Warlord Games are continuing to develop and tweak their range of planes for Blood Red Skies with some new Japanese releases this month. We kick off with the Mitsubishi J2M Raiden Squadron.

Mitsubishi J2M Raiden Squadron - Warlord Games

This squadron of fighters was primarily used to defend against the Boeing B-29 Superfortress but it was handicapped by poor engine performance when in service. Still, the pilots would make good use of its four-cannon set-up and use dive and zoom tactics in order to pick at their enemies.

As well as the squadron you're also able to get yourself the Yozo Tsuboi Ace expansion which gives you more character options for the Mitsubishi in gameplay.

The Kawanishi N1K-2 Shiden Squadron is next up, providing you with a wealth of additional fighters to use when building your force.

These planes could achieve a high speed which meant that it was tough for the Allies to catch them. Pilots got themselves a rugged and agile aircraft which had four 20mm cannons on its wings. It was, therefore, able to compete with many of the top class Allied fighters when involved in dogfights.

Kaneyoshi Muto is the Ace for this particular aircraft and was labelled the “the toughest fighter pilot in the Imperial Navy” by his peers. He was never seen again after a clash with American pilots over Bungo Channel where he was shot down.

Finally, we have the general Imperial Japanese Expansion Pack which comes with a range of additional cards.

As well as more aircraft cards the set comes with equipment, doctrine, theatre and trait cards which help build on your options.
