The Turcopoles were a force of cavalry used by the Christian armies during the time of the Crusades. They were often drawn from the various forces of the Eastern Mediterranean, the "Sons Of Turks".

The set comes with enough bits and pieces to make twelve cavalry miniatures armed with bows and spears/lances. You will also find the accessories that would work nicely with them including shields and their quivers.

The idea is that the Turcopoles were a fast and lightly armoured option for the Crusader States that could combat the highly mobile Muslim forces. They would often fulfil the role of scouts with their bows and spears at the ready. But, they could also follow up behind the main charge as the second line of attack.

The Turcopoles weren't always just Turks either. They could be drawn from all over the place if necessary. They could be a pretty good addition to an army riding into battle during the Medieval period, a solid option for an army that might normally not have access to such fast cavalry.

Are you going to be picking these up?
