March 19, 2026 by brennon
Spectre Miniatures have launched its Kickstarter for a new Lovecraftian-inspired skirmish game, Cosmic Horror. Delve into the mysteries hiding in the shadows and try to keep a hold of your sanity as you come up against the unexplainable and the impossible!
Cosmic Horror Kickstarter // Spectre Miniatures
Cosmic Horror is a two-plus-player skirmish game that takes place on a 2' x 2' tabletop. Players take on the role of an Assembly, be they Cults, Criminals, Government Agents or perhaps Academics, looking to fulfil their own aims, be that nefarious or altruistic!
What Is Cosmic Horror? // Spectre Miniatures
There is no good player in Cosmic Horror. Everyone has an agenda that they are trying to achieve. When you play the game, you'll either be going up against other player Assemblies or non-player controlled Entities. In some cases, you'll come up against both! In a nice twist that fits the theme, whilst there is deadly combat in Cosmic Horror, there is as much psychological trauma to deal with as you play, confronting the terrible horrors and the reality of their existence.
Games of Cosmic Horror can be played as one-off scenarios but you can also dive into a campaign alongside other players. When you do, you are either seeking to summon or stop the summoning of a Great Old One! As well as this, the narrative is driven forward by the addition of Mythos Cards which change the course of gameplay as they are drawn.
Cosmic Horror Starter Set // Spectre Miniatures
To help you dive into the game, Spectre Miniatures has put together a new Starter Set (see above) which comes with the Core Rules alongside Worshippers of Yog Sothoth and Federal Agents, plus two Mythos Subjects and the F.B.S.T Operative. You'll also get Mythos Cards and your Mythos Locations, which you can explore during gameplay.
The Enhanced Starter Set builds on this with more of the impressive sculpts by Spectre.

This comes with an additional Ghoul Pack, weird, warped Entities and the Reanimated Husks, which are going to be causing all sorts of issues! Delving deeper, you can also get Add-Ons for the various Old Ones like Cthulhu itself and Dagon! There is also an exclusive H.P. Lovecraft miniature for those who back the campaign.
Additional Add-On packs introduce more Assemblies for you to choose from, giving you alternatives to start with when playing Cosmic Horror. You will also find more terrifying horrors that you'll encounter whilst exploring the shadowy corners of the world.
As this is Spectre Miniatures, they are also offering the pledges in both a digital and physical format. So, you have plenty of ways to dive into this campaign.
