Arena Rex from Red Republic Games is getting some new offerings this month with the release of a new starter set and monster. Leading the way we have the Helleniki Starter Set.

Helleniki Starter Set - Arena Rex

Here's some of the background on this particular faction and their role in the game...

"Ludus Hellenicus celebrates the diversity and unity of the Hellenic League for all to see while ensuring the political engines of continued Greek independence remain stoked with the fuel of domination as the scars of an opportunistic rebellion heal. A new age of heroes can be found in local arenas, and the names of Greek warriors once again grace tongues the world over as their adoption of the Munera overtakes even the Olympics in import."

You get all you need in the set to get going in the game alongside the three models for Daphne, Krios and Phaedra. I really like the style they've gone for here with these models as they bring in some Fantastical Greeks into the mix for their arena-based game. Another splash of colour in your gaming is always good to see.

A Mighty Bear

As well as these deadly looking Greeks there's also the addition of the massive Crassus who is wading into the fighting, perhaps as a creature your warband might be forced to fight.

Crassus - Arena Rex

Here's some of the background on the mighty Crassus...

"Widow turned socialite Silenia of Baiae jokingly refers to Crassus as her 'fourth husband.'  Few animals have tasted the blood of a citizen of the Republic and survived, but Silenia used her influence to shelter the great bear from immediate execution after he lashed out at a drunken and mean-spirited guest. The message was clear: leave well enough alone during a wild and lavish feast.  While Crassus has been sentenced to the arena in punishment, Silenia still keeps him close between bouts as both a status symbol and proven guardian."

I think if you could have yourself a bear companion you probably would and whilst he can be placed in the arena as a living hazard you can also find a spot for him as part of your cohort if you want to sacrifice a little in order to fit him in.

What do you make of Crassus and these new Helleniki models?
