Games Workshop are going to be taking pre-orders this weekend for the new Cities Of Sigmar Army Set for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. This will be the first time you can get your hands on a good section of the core troops and heroes that you'll need to take these mortal warriors on a Dawnbringer Crusade.

The first of the sets comes with a range of miniatures to get you started. Leading the way, you have the Freeguild Marshal and his Attendant, a grizzled veteran and their earnest squire. You also have the deadly Alchemite Warforger who is there to boost the effectiveness of your warriors weapons whilst turning your opponent's into slag.

The rest of this force is made up of two sets of ten Steelhelms and five Cavaliers. This gives you two solid units of infantry for holding the line whilst your cavalry thunder around the flanks and look to cause some panic in the enemy formations. I guess the next step once you've piked this up is to work out which of the cities across the Mortal Realms you're going to throw your allegiance behind.

It would also be worth looking at how you build this army. Are you going to be making it a solidly mortal force or will you look to slot in some Stormcast Eternals and other forces from different factions in order to aid their crusade?

This set also features a special, limited edition Battletome with that plush cover alongside a deck of Warscroll Cards that cover the fifty-two Cities Of Sigmar units available to the army. You'll also get transfer sheets which are packed with iconography to match the city you choose.

As with all of these boxes that get people launched headfirst into a new pile of potential, you will be able to get all of the core elements later on down the line. The miniatures will be available separately alongside a regular edition of the book. That means you don't have to pick this up unless you're really interested in the Cities Of Sigmar. Whilst these are often good value for money in the long run, it might be worth looking out for the Vanguard set for this army later on down the line.

New Vanguard Set - Seraphon

Talking of Vanguard sets, the new one for the Seraphon is going to be coming up for pre-order this weekend. Plenty of space-lizard goodness awaits.

This set comes with a Saurus Oldblood on the back of a fearsome and gnashing Carnosaur. He is then backed up by three massive Kroxigor looking to sweep away the enemy and ten Saurus Warriors. These Vanguard sets are similar to the Combat Patrols for Warhammer 40,000 in that they give you a decent entry point into the game and the army in question. These haven't been specifically balanced for use in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar though as the Combat Patrols have for the grimdark future.

Both of these sets are going to be coming up for pre-order this weekend, opening up options for the Grand Alliance of Order.

Will you be picking these miniatures up?
