Some new options for Black Powder Epic Battles are available for you to pre-order from Warlord Games. Plus, you will also find some new options for getting started with their American Civil War range and that's where we will begin!

Guts & Glory Starter Set - Black Powder Epic Battles

The first of these is the Guts & Glory Starter Set. This set comes with enough troops for both the Union and the Confederates alongside a set of terrain which will allow you to play out some minor clashes between the two forces during the American Civil War. You'll also find the Black Powder Rulebook plus the American Civil War background, scenario and supplement rule booklet.

If you want to take things to the next level, you can also pick up the Gettysburg Battle Set.

This is the way to dive in if you've already decided that the American Civil War and this scale are the way to go. That means over 2000 soldiers which come on colour-coded plastic sprues. They are all easy to assemble and will sit nicely alongside the MDF scenery that provides cover and something to fight over.

Much like with the Guts & Glory set, you'll also find the rules within for playing the game so that you can get right to the tabletop quickly!

Cavalry & Zouaves Brigades

In addition to the new "starter sets", you'll also find two sets of miniatures representing the Cavalry & Zouaves Brigades for both the Union and the Confederates.

These sets offer up some cavalry and skirmishing options for use on both sides of the conflict. Skirmishers are integral to armies as they allow you to screen the advance of your forces on the tabletop and also pick and tear at the flanks of the enemy's army at the same time.

The sets come with around 100 soldiers including cavalry, dismounted cavalry and the skirmishers mentioned above. This means you get to introduce the likes of the 14th Brooklyn, Fire Zouaves and Duryée's Zouaves or the Louisiana Tigers.

Marking The Dead

Last but not least, there is also the coming of the Casualty Markers set which could be very helpful when marking what units have taken a few hits during gameplay.

These have been previewed before but they offer up numbered tokens and markers that would also fit nicely into the flow of gameplay without breaking your immersion too much. I do like these and I would always go with something like this over regular markers.

Are you going to be snapping up some of these American Civil War releases?
