Tabletop Art’s Shaleground Bases Go Round

Tabletop Art are once again expanding their selection of bases as their new Shaleground bases go round.
I must admit to being a bit conflicted about these bases. This slab of slate rock design looks great and leaves plenty of room for easy and dramatic basing. However, it is something that can be easily achieved yourself, rather than needing specific pre-made terrain bases. Still, I guess these are a good resource when you can't find the necessary materials or just don't have the time.
What are your thoughts on Tabletop Art's Shaleground bases?

I suppose they are also easier to pin models to than actual slate would be.
These look great, but can’t help wondering if I couldn’t just make these myself. Wouldn’t be at all difficult.
