The Ugr Stomp Into Conquest As Heavy Nord Reinforcements

Para Bellum Wargames has been showing off some more previews and this time they have moved on to the Nords. Here we have the Ugr, some monstrous new options which might be helpful reinforcements for your force of fur-clad warriors.

Here is some of the background for these lumbering creatures...

"Ugr occupy a very strange place in Nord society. They are the exalted progeny of demigods, capable of doing the work of a dozen men and terrifying foes when roused to anger. On the other hand, it is difficult to stand in awe of a being that is challenged by numbers that exceed a single digit, simple concepts such as personal hygiene, or the mind-boggling mechanics of doors, for that matter.

Regardless, Ugr are a tremendous asset to whatever community they are assigned to, a fact that the Einherjar Angbjörn, High King of Mannheim and Father of Ogres, exploits to maintain the balance of power with a deep cunning one would not expect from his corpulent frame and constant inebriation.

After all, there are few creatures on Eä that will not pause and reconsider any rash action, when faced with the single-minded aggression of an Ugr band."

I think this is a nice addition to the mix. It's one of the things which I think is a nice dividing line between what we have with the Hundred Kingdoms and the Nords. Both are very human-like in appearance and style but the Nords have aligned themselves with monsters to supplement their shortfalls.

As someone who likes having a variety of interesting things to paint, the Nords are a faction which allows for that. You can paint all the regular warriors that you like but then switch it up when you're bored and paint up a big monster or two!

What do you think?
