Of all the heroes I had when I was a kid, Lara Croft was one of them. The adventuring, picket-wielding, guns akimbo badass, who has been taking on the archaeological and supernatural for the past 25 years.

Lara Croft 25th Anniversary // Square Enix

2021 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise, and Square Enix has dropped some interesting news regarding the resourceful lass. Coming this holiday season, Square Enix with be coming to the tabletop with a Tomb Raider tabletop RPG, entitled Lara Croft's Tomb Raiders.

For anybody who has had a console in the last 25 years, will have come across Lara before. Known as quite the bibliophile, she has been known to take down Dinosaurs, Yetis, Undead, and even a Dragon. So the transition over to the tabletop will no doubt come to her with ease.

Considering only one of you might have the chance to play as the good ol' Lara herself, Square Enix is not forcing you into the world to stand in the shoes as the already established archaeologist. With the game entitled, Lara Croft’s Tomb Raiders - you can bet your bottom dollar you can undergo your own adventures as a separate being - taking on the role of fictional characters that reside in the world of Tomb Raider.

Don't worry, we will still see Lara. I imagine she is settled living her life retired from adventure, in the hot tub of Croft Manor as her worker-bees do all the heavy lifting! As Lara Croft knows her stuff, she has hired several archaeologists of fine skill to embark on adventures for her. She will have tips and leads, but leave you all to suffice in your own escapades.

Much like the original console titles, players will be encouraged to search to uncover more lost artefacts and explore the world like there's no tomorrow, whilst players investigate and sponge up new knowledge looking for precious artefacts in some of the most unusual places on the earth.

Fortunately for us, we do not have to wait for too long at all! Coming this festive season, Square Enix will be handing over the Core Rulebook and the very first adventure, Mark of the Phoenix, to celebrate the Christmas Cheer with their fans and community.

According to Square Enix, the game has been in development since 2007 and has undergone playtesting too! The rank-up system is certainly what intrigues me. Upgrading knowledge is right up my street, Lara approaches situations incredibly unique, I wonder whether her Tomb Raiders will do the jobs justice!

What do you think Lara Croft is up to, now she's sending off her own team of workers into perilous circumstances?
