Games Workshop unveiled a whole bunch of additional previews over the weekend for Warhammer 40,000. The stars of the show were the new Dark Angels miniatures which should be coming early next year to purge the heretic and follow their newly returned Primarch in a new crusade across the galaxy.

Taking the lead is the interrogator of the Dark Angels, the one that makes his enemies talk (although if the truth is ever gleaned is another matter). Asmodai has got a new look miniature based on some of the classic artwork for the character and is now ready and eager to do his duty.

Asmodai, as the Master Of Repentance, is there to secure the confessions from the Fallen and then "deal" with them if they have fallen too far from grace. He wields a deadly sword in the form of Catechist and smashes down his foes with the crozius, Censure. As with a lot of the new kits, he has a few options with different heads and two different backpacks where one is pouring smoke as you can see above.

The hood is certainly the way to go and whilst I do appreciate the miniature being based on the old artwork for Asmodai, I don't think it really has the menace and intimidation factor that the old miniature had. Maybe with a more grimdark paint scheme, it could end up ticking those boxes.

New Deathwing Knights!

Not just an upgrade kit but a full-blown plastic set in their own right; the Deathwing Knights are coming to support their Primarch in his new endeavours.

This set is once again going to come with a bunch of options including cowls, tabards, shields, swords and massive maxes. You'll be able to arm your five Knights as you see fit and maybe even do some mixing and matching if you prefer. There is certainly a definitive Sci-Fi Knights vibe to the miniatures though and I think that Games Workshop has done a great job on these.

As someone who has a small Dark Angels force, I was waiting to see what they did on the Terminator front. It's a shame that we didn't get to see more about the upcoming Assault Terminators but this will certainly fill the slot for a fair few folks, especially with a little bit of conversion work.

The set also comes with a Teleport Homer as well as a Watcher In The Dark who is keeping an eye on proceedings. A great objective marker option?

Night Lords Stalk Into Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team

As well as the Dark Angels, we also got to see some traitors for Warhammer 40,000, specifically Kill Team. The Night Lords are going to be entering the fray, terrorising their enemies and then using their bones and flayed skin to adorn their armour. Chaos turned up to eleven.

This particular Kill Team uses the Chaos Space Marines plastic kit as its base and then throws a whole bunch of upgrades into the mix. You'll find all sorts of deadly Night Lords bitz to tinker with including those iconic winged helmets and flensing blades by the dozen. You'll also have specialist equipment like the various blades they're using and that Ventrilokar Icon. Some unfortunate Battle-Brother has been turned into a puppet that can trick the Night Lord's foes into falling into their trap.

An interesting set that was rumoured to be coming but it's nice to see confirmed. It will be interesting to see what force the Night Lords get pitted against as part of future boxed sets. Whilst I'm not that enamoured by the idea of having to paint all of that edge highlight and doing that lightning work, I think these will look awesome when folks put some effort into them.

What's Next For Warhammer 40,000?

Capping things off, we also got the Codex Roadmap for Warhammer 40,000 for the next year or so.

Adeptus Mechanicus and Necrons are coming up for pre-order soon and Dark Angels and Orks are still on the list for the Spring portion of 2024. Beyond that, we've got Adeptus Custodes, T'au Empire and Chaos Space Marines followed closely by Genestealer Cults and Adepta Sororitas. There is also that redacted entry which either means some new faction (perhaps?) or they haven't decided yet!

It seems like the design team is trying to get a lot of the rules out for the factions quicker than normal (although I'm still happy enough with my Index Cards!). Is your faction coming soon?

What do you make of these new previews for Warhammer 40,000?
