Quick Look: Blitzkrieg!

Blitzkrieg! is a game which, as the name might imply, took myself and Gerry by surprise. It's not on Kickstarter for much longer but it might be one of the most mechanically interesting ones to grace the site in the last few months. Its core premise is so simple and transferable that one of its stretch goals is to provide a free game with a brand new setting which is decided by a public vote.
It's this kind of refreshing take on a Kickstarter stretch goal which reflects the game itself. It applies an elegant 'tug of war' theme to each theatre that is constantly in flux. It abstracts World War 2 but it also allows players to write their own history of the war with imagined conflicts happening on each line of a theatre.
I am eagerly anticipating more games with Gerry over lunch, but even the wildly divergent strategies that we gravitated towards is impressive for such a short and simple game. Gerry put more effort into research which gave him powerful moves, whilst I focused on bombing runs which limited his hand size.
It's not often that a game catches you off guard with such elegant simplicity but Blitzkrieg! has done just that.

Funky looking game, intrigued to see the lets play.
I’d hoped to do it in this video bit time was against us. Definitely one we’ll come back to. I think there is a let’s play on the kickstarter. But it’s such an easy little game to get into I’d suggest checking it out and backing if you are interested as you’ll get the expansion for free.
It’s a nice wee game you could chuck out on the table when you’ve got 15mins spare and the buy in is low
You buggers, I was trying to avoid anymore Kickstarters. I got in with a few hours to go. It looks like an addictive little game, I especially like the sound of the Nippon expansion.
