New Expansion! Forbidden Creed For Epic Fantasy Game, Maladum

You can now pre-order a brand new narrative expansion to the epic tabletop dungeon crawler board game, Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron by Battle Systems. This new Fantasy tale delves into The Forbidden Creed with new heroes, new foes and loads of terrible traps for you to contend with.

Inside this new expansion, you'll get a new quest that takes you deep into the ruined keep of Dugn-Linn. Here, you'll face a range of new gameplay challenges like the perils of Forbidden Magic (hence the name of the expansion), plus more that can be combined with your existing games of Maladum. This does mean that you'll need the core Maladun: Dungeons of Enveron Starter Set so that you can play The Forbidden Creed.

A cabal under the sway of Maladaar has been found high in the mountains and they are fiddling with powers they don't understand. Combined with this, they are also seeking to summon The Ascendant, a disembodied spirit of Maladaar and use it for their twisted means. Could your adventures maybe be able to sway events in their favour so they could instead command this daunting spirit?

Interestingly, this new expansion takes the villains and allows you to recruit them as Adventurers! This set also comes with rules for recruiting Companions that could be pets, servants or apprentices who end up aiding you in battle against your foes.
You will also find a new set of Battle Systems terrain in the form of a frosty ruined keep, which features raised walkways and plenty of cover. This should quite literally elevate your games of Maladum and give you a few new ways to set up your tabletops.

Nice game, and the terrain is great for doing anything from Maladum to Frostgrave (the terrain sheets here are perfect for Frostgrave) or anything dungeon crawling. The minis are pretty good for a Board game with minis (in one piece pre assembled plastic). But it’s the terrain that shines above and beyond any other game elements. Maladum rules are a bit deeper than Battle Systems previous games (Core Space and First Born), although I must admit I do prefer the sci-fi games a little more than fantasy. But at the end of the day, you don’t have to paint this stuff (although many do “pen” the edges of the cardboard pieces to hide the bare cardboard edges), and that is the major draw for me on these releases. PLUS there’s a “Project Penguin” coming, and all we do know about this is it’s not a kickstarter (so probably straight to retail).
