There is another game that is changing how battles are being fought on the tabletop, it is now the subject of a Kickstarter campaign. The game is called Rally Round the Flag, and this time it is the battle of Gettysburg of the American Civil War, which many consider the cornerstone of the sway of momentum in the war.

Rally Round the Flag

The battle had the Army of the Potomac with Gen. Meade in command facing the Army of Northern Virginia commanded by Gen. Lee. The battle lasted three days and saw an incredible loss of life by both sides to include Gen. Stonewall Jackson.

Now Lost Battalion Games is helping to bring this game to life. along with the beautiful artwork from S. Craig Taylor Jr. and Mort Kunstler. This game takes tabletop wargames to an incredible level by allowing "zooming" into the battle by going from a division map to a brigade level map and finally to a regiment map.

It has a card mechanic that influences the tide of battle and not control it. The playing pieces are made of MDF and the game boards are based on a hand painted survey map of Gettysburg in 1872.

Depending on the level you pledge you will get over 1000 playing pieces and the game is played over anywhere from 3 to 40 hours, yes you read that correctly possibly 40 hours, the level of detail is amazing as you can track losses, ammunition supplies and others details a good general needs to know.

If you are into historical games that play on a grand scale this might just be the game for you.

Do you have what it takes to change the outcome?
