So glad they’re doing ground combat! 🙂
Never gets old 😉
Happy Sunday, went and got a cuppa, back in bed now viewing!
Happy Sunday!
I think my kid is just as excited about Halo ships and ground combat as Lloyd 🙂
Happy sunday
happy sunday …..halo ground ….cant wait 🙂
Happy Sunday guys, looking forward to seeing where Spartan go with Halo.
Studio miniatures do a great figure of Ash under the name Cole, as well as other great figures
Lloyd i’m not sure if you saw the 15mm stuff at salute I know you guys get super busy so here are some pics I found on line http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/644945.page
Is ‘purple javelin’ a euphemism?..
very interesting morning
I’ve had a very nice eight days of gaming. I’ve played in a Relic Knights tournament (won), a Guild Ball tournament (third), played Dead of Winter, DC Deckbuilding Game, Krosmaster, and DC Dicemasters. I also have an L5R tournament today.
Well done!
Lets say you did want a 28mm warthog
?v=1436377923&w=639&fit=max&auto=format&q=92&s=a8c89d8e4d1ab7f433725ddbb19b3fdb anvil industries are gonna be pretty dang close when these guys are out, I have one from the KS.
An excellent set of rules for a zombie game is All Things Zombie, by Two Hour Wargames, it ticks all the boxes of competitive, collaborative, solo and narrative orientated games! Can be obtained as a very reasonably priced pdf download too! http://www.twohourwargames.com/
The new Bullets and Brains looks interesting as well. http://www.eaststreetgames.com
Sunday Happy !
Happy Sunday.
$100 for the Monster KS now looks a great deal, even after almost 3 years.
Didn’t zombicide do a Ash tribute model?
Genysis is alright. Certainly worth a watch if Terminator is your thing. If you haven’t seen the first two movies a lot of it will be lost on you.
Also, if you haven’t seen the trailer, don’t watch it. It spoils the plot twist.
Happy Sunday!
Dust wise? I don’t think the “Unassembled” was a great idea, given the whole sale point of Dust was that it was built and primed. The painted I understood straight up but the unassembled seems like a complete pointless exercise given the price difference is so minuscule.
hi guys!
Audio went out of sync for me after the halo piece 🙁 only by about 1/2 a second…
Wargames factory apoc survivors and zombies are cool and CHEAP… for zombie rules try ATZ (all things zombie)
Happy Sunday
Kinda disappointed we won’t get a halo 28mm game, would have loved to add some covenant to my collection.
@lloyd best ash on the market http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=oakley~hfa055&category=miniatures~modern-adventurers~modern-%26post%252dapoc~modern-adventurers.
@joerugby – I’ve had a look, can’t seem to find him.
Oops
@lloyd their website is having some upgrades at the moment here’s a new Link for oakley
http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=oakley~hfa055&category=modern-%26post%252dapoc~modern-adventurers
But if that doesn’t work here a pic of him painted by dwarfist
http://dwartist.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/hasslefree-oakley.html
Still sulking a little as the Halo ground combat stuff will be 15mm..I’m approaching 50 and eyesight isn’t at its best anymore 🙁
But I can see the point. It’s gonna be epic anyways.
You can definitely build an Ash from the WGF Male Survivors set (worth having because of the weapons sprue alone- although the female one is even better, they’ve Mac10s!)
Guess I will have to build one now..
Ash vs Evil Dead is something that IN THEORY I am excited for. I have also only seen #3 though.
I say in theory because until its out everything is only in theory
happy sunday
Lloyd there are already unit card stats out there for the at43 stuff on “the war continues DUST” web site
Will need to check them out 🙂
@trewets – looks like they are for Warfare: http://twc-dust-tactics.blogspot.co.uk/p/dust-cards.html but I’m playing Battlefield.
15mm. I can live with that.
The one, single downside to that is that it makes it a bit problematic to do a Scarab. Other than that, it sounds awesome.
My game options are now complete.
Sci-fi skirmish: Infinity.
Sci-fi mass battle: Halo ground war thing.
Sci-fi space dogfight: X-wing.
Sci-fi fleet combat: Halo space game.
Fantasy dungeon crawler: Dungeon Saga.
Fantasy mass battle: Kings of War.
Sorted! 🙂
15mm is perfect for a scarab 🙂
Not too big not too small
Happy sunday folks!
Am a big Halo fan, I’m 50/50 about getting into the fleet battles, but definitely sold on ground battles!
@lloyd – Do they have a vague ETA for release of the 2nd game??
hasslefree has done an oakley character for evildead with a female version
http://hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=oakley~hfa055&category=modern-%26post%252dapoc~modern-adventurers
@lloyd is off to get a piece of Ash -Sorry it had to be said
The continuity of the Evil Dead movies starts with Evil Dead 2 (which is by far the best of three). Evil Dead is worth a watch but not necessary to understand what is going on in the subsequent movies.
Halo ground battles! 15mm isn’t something I’m too keen on and It’s a shame we wont have nice 28mm minis, however the game itself could be awesome and I’m sure the 15mm stuff will have it’s own appeal when we see them 🙂
Leading Edge came out with the RPG and miniatures for evil dead if you can find any of those there nice looking for the time that they were made
There is a ash like hero and his evil counter part in the new zombicide – Black Plague, otherwise known as Troy and Evil Troy.
eh no halcyon cruisers where’s the pillar or autumn? and flood in future games could be some cool mechanics with infecting ships and crews
Happy Sunday!!
SSU type 4’s nice, that AT43 stuff is awesome!
Are you playing Tactics or Battlefield, I prefer Warfare myself.
I love the kits idea, means I can take the legs and put them on my British armour to keep my British theme.
I’m pretty excited about Evil dead hey, I think I’ve already seen a character card for him for zombiecide.
Hasslefree minis has a really good Ash mini!! cannot wait for the TV series.
As Ash once said”…..Yo’,… She Bitch!! Let’s Go!!”
or the classic “……Workshed!!!”
Awesome XLBS. Super excited about Ash vs Evil Dead. Gonna make my wife watch the films.
As for dust, I know people who will buy the unassembled stuff, as they were not always satisfied with the job done on the pre-assembled ones. Perfectionists in other words.
Personally I will stick to the assembled and primed stuff. I think it’s great, and you can get paint down on the models straight away.
Oh, and Happy Sunday!
Just rebooting the hub as everything sounds as staggered as it looks currently which is an absolute first this end
@johnlyons for the win! At 8:25 :
Justin: “We were talking about monstrous, nightmarish worlds . . .”
John: “. . . and we went on to marriage!”
Replay Army of Darkness in KoW. KoW Even has a boomstick, not to mention the undead ‘Evil Dead’ special rules.
Evil Dead can already be played, sort of through the crooked dice 7ombietv game.
Evil Dead TV show – wow, that’s a bit much to take in. I am old enough to have seen the movies as they came out. I know a friend that created a zombie board game back in the early 1990’s that had a lot of cool game mechanics. Like a raising tension that released more bad ass monster zombies as the game progressed. Scenarios were like in a high school, showing mall or old theater, etc. Players would start out with nothing and have to grab whatever’s at hand.
Halo game looks cool. I will need to find someone that plays it to get stuck in. Thanks for the great xlbs video.
I can’t see the video. A message comes up with “Sorry. Because of its privacy settings, this video cannot be played here.” Anyone else getting that?
@cannor What country are you in?
@lloyd UK.
I’ve sent you a pm
Top notch as always. Hope to see more Spartan goodness in the future.
There is a remake of the original Evil Dead released in 2013. Sam Rami and Bruce Campbell (original producers of Evil Dead) enjoyed the re-make. There is also a lot of easter egg’s to find in the new version. Nod’s to the original series.
Happy Sunday
Is HALO going to fill that gap/need that GW’s BFG and Epic have left in the lack of support GW has put into those games
I am so looking forwards to seeing some flood in these Halo games, that would be awesome
Well deserved wins in the Q-Con XXII Miniature Painting Competition John. We gave you the prize for the Contemptor Diorama as it was the only diorama entered and looked amazing.
Best in Show went to Richard with the Dwarf Slayer while the Nagash won the Large Miniature category.
Photos of all the entrants can be found in the link below.

They may truly nail it with Halo! But I would have hoped that they could merge it with their other games.. Already waiting for my fleet set and will more than probably get the surface battle game aswell ^^
About the Dust stuff, I think I saw the models comming directly of the sprues, in the condition you showed its not worth getting exept the fact that it might be cheaper. I glad just if they could start producing and selling stuff. I spent hundreds of pounds one winter terrain and a Dust force, hype and got most the guys on the train and we loved the v2 game, Battlefield. But this last month.. Whats going on with Dust & BF. This is bad, simply put. I was hoping to run Demo games and get even more people on the train but you can literally hardly buy miniatures.
IMO Battlefront made a wonderfull update for the game and with their other games in their lugage they would have made an awesome partner for Dust Studios. I am very sad its got where it is now, kinda end times like. But there are many fans, its a great game, it cant be worth throwing down the bin. Meanwhile, I´ll just keep painting all I have left to paint 🙂
@coste – Yeah it’s really fun, had two great games of it today 🙂
God. I love the Evil Dead. Mainly because of how funny Bruce is. ( Haven’t seen the remake though. )
The first film was supposed to be a serious(ish) horror and is pretty good in it’s own right. ( though a bit long winded. )
The second one though is pure awesome. The first half of it is pretty much a remake of the first film but taken to another level that the second half just runs away with. The blend of serious/comedy is bang on.
Army of Darkness is a great film and is gloriously over the top compaired to the first 2.
For me. Evil Dead 2 is the best of the 3.And I love that when he cuts off his hand and traps it under a bucket. The top book on the pile he weighs it down with is “A fairwell to arms”. lol
One thing I would like to know though… Where does this leave the directors cut post apocalypse ending…? lol
Yes, we are almost getting into terminator oddness here 🙂
Or else it is just one more step towards it
Yeah. Shame about the 15mm Halo ground battle. I mean who just wants to own and paint a 28mm Master Chief “because”
Saturday’s and today’s Weekenders have been epic.I am a X Wing and Armada player. I would snap up Fleet Battle even though I have never played Halo (PS player) and would be interested in the ground war game as well. And on a side note this weekend was the first time I use an digital AV adapter on my iPad and must say the picture quality of the 2 videos is very sharp on my TV and better than I thought.
Really looking forward to evil dead series. Ash as a “role model” for aspiring zombie hunters could be awesome fun.
I prefer the Evil Dead series before it got silly in Army of Darkness. I like my horror first with some comedy mixed in, not vice versa. That being said, I would tune in for this series, if it is available on the channels I get or Amazon.
I DO like the bit that Lloyd commented on: He still has the same crappy job. Maybe the show will explain it differently, but I imagine Ash has no ambition in life and is happy to stagnate.
Zombicide has a ash called troy it was a add on for zombicide blackplague and possible an earlier zombicide kickstarter
cant wait to see evil dead series! halo is looking good too, but will pass 15 mm only space conflicts.
happy Sunday great show.
You could use a variation of the zombie rules from Deadzone and they make decent zombie figures, even can use citizens and such from Mars Attacks.
Great show guys, but can you bug Model Mates about a US Distributor? It’s driving me nuts that we cant get that here without paying an arm and a leg.
That Halo stuff is lovely. I wasn’t totally convinced until I saw you walking through the boxed set and talking about the future, but now I’m sorely tempted.
Loving the idea of the ground combat game. Not fussed on 15mm – I tried FoW but gave it up for Bolt Action as I prefer the larger scale. I know that producing some of the bigger models in 28mm would be impractical, but I would love a squad of Spartans and a Squadron of Warthogs just so I could sit and drool over them.
15 mm – well – we’ll see. As long as there’s Warthogs n Scorpions then I’m ruling doubt out!
Could actually be a nice little side game – doing a boarding action on the Fleet Table and then switch to a Ground action table and fight out the boarding action there, the outcome having an affect on the Fleet battle. Like Space Hulk – only better!
Leading edge games did a army of Darkness game back in the 90s ash and the knights have to stop skeletons getting over the castle walls and stealing the book. Nice simple game, still have it.
Well its a good idea they allow Spartan to create stuff, Halo is a great game and the mythos in quite good, but once you take a step back, you see everything has been created with the first person shooter in mind (logical), the human and covenant forces need more fleshing out too feel more realistic and Spartan may provide the extra equipment and vehicles for this to happen.
I hope there are supplementary rules for doing a ground battle in place of a boarding action. If not, I’ll make my own rules. I’m hoping/planning the same for Dropfleet/Dropzone commander. Now all I need is for Fantasy Flight to come out with a 15mm Star Wars ground combat game and I’ll have 3 (6) different games vying for my time and money (in addition to all the others).
@ Dignity aka Justin the movie you talked about with the eye in a hand being stabbed is 1987 The Gate, still has a certain charm or maybe that’s just me:

Hasslefree Miniatures does two different Ashes. One is good the other excellent.
zombicide black plague have ash and evil ash
