You can’t even down vote it either 😉
Dont count on that yet, were still closing a little ‘LOOPHOLE’ there lol
I’ve nothing witty to reply with that.
There you go, my vote…lol
-1 😉
Well that was a sinister start. Justin and Ben being tortured in Brno and you’d live stream it!?!?
Actually, in retrospect, we see that every Sunday morning anyway. Nevermind.
lol
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday!
I can’t remember what year it was, but the last GW day I bothered to attend felt like simply a big GW/FW shop surrounded by a few displays.
Oh man, Dark Future. Now THERE’s a blast from the past. Still got some of the novels around here somewhere….
And lest we forget Chainsaw Warrior…
Ref Hobbit & LOTR, if GW are going back to the era of The Last Alliance to expand things might we get Elendil’s younger son Anarionn in miniature form?
Great xlbs guys.
@warzan in re-releasing their classic board games, GW are clearly attempting to rekindle sentiment in veteran wargamers. They seem to have been careful not to bastardise the original games so to appeal to the nostalgia of older gamers, bit like driving the new Mini. I’m sure GW have many new titles waiting in the wings but for now they need to renew confidence in the gaming community and these rereleases will act as ground bait.
Wedding photos please
Hi guys, I’m looking to put together an army of Redcoats and Jacobites for a pitched battle at Culloden. Given its one of the most famous British battles I’m struggling to find 28mm figures and rule sets. Any help would be much appreciated.

There should be loads more as well making a suitable figures
. It s not a period I am really interested in but given the unusual nature of the Battle trying to find a 18th rulebook to reflect this might be hard. Best bet might be some FIW rules and and adapt them
You could see if anything here takes your fancy

Many thanks 🙂
That Leman Russ mini is outstanding. I’ve always loathed him (for some reason even in Rogue Trader, even before he murdered the Thousand Sons); but that mini is outstanding.
The best Primarch yet? Could be.

No Canyon was formed in a matter of days.It is just simply impossipleto do that
A new start for Games-Workshop I wonder who was talking about that not so long ago…
They are moving in the right direction that for sure, Ben did meet the lawyers in the door handing him a C&D letter
Companies can’t turn on a dime as one bloke said in the thread I put up. So all I can say to that is this, they are improving 🙂
I did and do still agree with you.
Some nice new models there.
the golden demon was interesting as always, but other than that I only liked the houses and that they will make them. But my question would be can you fight in them as well and how much will they cost? I’m a bit afraid that they going to be the same price as 4ground buildings or even more expensive. The rest was just same old same old.
I really hope GW is pulling their heads out of the sand and are doing something new and innovative instead of the same thing over and over again. And no I don’t think AoS is in anyway innovative and new, I mean no disrespect but its getting a bit boring.
GW don’t license LotR/Hobbit from the movie studio, rather both the movie studio and GW license from Middle-earth Enterprises. M-eE took the rpg license off ICE in 1999 because ICE had stopped making new product for the game. I assume GW are at similar risk of losing the license to make miniatures games based on the IP if they cease making new product.
The ‘new’ GW has been apparent since the release of Age of Sigmar last year. As of yet, though, I’ve seen little evidence of a commitment to producing high quality games, as opposed to re-treads or vehicles for selling minis.
I’m glad I’m not the only one with Scary Baby Monitor Experiences! When we lived in Bristol we used to get some bleed over from another baby monitor in the area and that baby used to cry a *lot*. When the mother would come in to the room to pick up the baby, the voice was really distorted and it sounded pretty freaky.. but that’s radios for you.
But then we had our second child a few years later and for the 2 – 3 years where the monitor was in his room, we continued to get the same interference from that other baby monitor. Weird thing was.. it had been going on for about 5 years in total and that baby crying on the ‘other’ monitor never seemed to be getting any older..
“What’s a Tiefling” he says? (Sorry, commenting live).Only the best D&D race ever. Tiefling bard FTW!
@warzan if you are a fan of psychological horrors and haven’t seen ‘It Follows’ your missing out buddy. It’s a modern one and plays more on your mind than anything else and does have a zombie like feel to it although much more menacing.
Warzan. Can you please put in a link to that exorcism book?
I believe this is it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ebooks-Exorcist-Tells-His-Story-ebook/dp/B0167ND1LS?ie=UTF8&qid=1463916747&ref_=la_B001JXWW6W_1_1&s=books&sr=1-1
And I haven’t read this yet: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Excorcist-More-Stories-Gabriele-Amorth-ebook/dp/B01AYEYFSO?ie=UTF8&qid=1463916747&ref_=la_B001JXWW6W_1_2&s=books&sr=1-2
Adeptus Titanicus.
I have had a smile on my face since that poster was revealed. I loved that game, I just think the scale suits the world so much better than 28mm.
While the 29mm warlord is hugely impressive, I voted for it as model of the year at the awards, its a display piece really, it is far, far too big to be practical on 99% of the tables people use to play 40K, including mine.
A highly details version that is 6″ tall, the size of a 40K knight? That actually fits properly onto a 6×4 with in scale terrain.
I’m just waiting for the Imperator. Yes I know it will be expensive, the old one is currently about £100 on ebay, I’ll take a new one instead.
Happy sunday… well as someone who entered the hobby in the good old days of GW I am pleased to see that they seem to be trying to recapture that Mojo. Now if they now start to realise that they are not isolated in the industry and are a leader in what is now a much much bigger industry then I think that they will become what they should be.
I see GW as like Japan many years of isolationism, a sudden backlash then some time of reflection before embracing the world around them and work out what they are good at and embrace the world.
@warzan and @brennon you should cover Ardacon in Manchester in the end of October. 120 participant The Hobbit tournament! It’ll be a mini world tournament with teams from all over! We’re coming with a 6 man team from Norway! It’s going to be epic!
Do you know the organisers? Get (or Put them) In Touch
James Clark is the organiser of Aradcon, he’s one of the hosts of the GBHL
https://www.facebook.com/james.clark.967806?fref=ts
Happy sunday folks!
Happy Sunday all!
I love seeing some of the reboots of some classic franchises like bloodbowl/mordheim/necromunda/lotr etc – and the fact that they have said the rules will basically be the same as they always have been for bloodbowl is great news.
On the other hand, Silver Tower?!?! Just doesn’t look or feel anything like Warhammer Quest as we remember it – the soul just isn’t there.
It almost feels like GW have become a 2 personality company – half of it are hobbyists that just want to make cool stuff, the other half are the self obsessed types that refuse to accept that they aren’t the industry and don’t actually know what people want to buy/play because ‘they know best’, typically obsessed with the moneys.
I’d be real happy if the first type ousted the second and ran the company 🙂
Seriously though, can’t wait for bloodbowl
And @warzan wedding photos please 🙂
Carnt wait for the new GW stuff 🙂 blooooood bowls 🙂
Ben: Will the new LotR/Hobbit use the same rule set? an update ruleset or a complet new one?
i.e with the new models coming out…will i be able to adept them to use for the rules from the Hobbit Rule Book and/or the LotR Strategy Battle game Rules?
It’s exactly the same ruleset, the Middle Earth team have been very upfront about that and SBG is here to stay. The rules for the new minis will be likely be released along with them so you can use them straight away
I hear you on the baby monitor scares Warzan. Ours shows the image from the last time we used it when it’s first turned on. This often leads to me thinking my baby has either disappeared, or that there is ghost baby in the cot when I know it’s empty, he he! Interested to see how Adeptus Titanicus turns out as that was probably the first game I played back in the day and would be cool to play it again.
I’d love to hear what the team thinks about the Prodos Unicast system and what it means for hobby. Do you guys think it will benefit wargamers?
I second the call for you guys to visit Ardacon in Manchester, it’ll be the biggest Hobbit/LOTR event in the world and is effectively a championship with players from all over the world! The Great British Hobbit League and DC Hobbit League have been the major drive behind the resurgence of the Hobbit and GW have been listening and now engaging with us as a community. Adam Troke and the rest of the Middle Earth team at GW are part of the Facebook groups and actively comment and contribute with us all 🙂
Hey guys great XLBS as usual. Really excited by all the Lotr/the hobbit stuff, has to be my favourite game and it’s so good to find out it has continued support. The new stuff looks fantastic too so hopefully it’s got a long and happy future ahead
holy crap,@warzan – based on your opening talk about the static of security cams and its vague connection to jump-scare horror shows, staring nervously at monitors and hoping to God nothing happens …
DON’T ever play “Five Night’s at Freddy’s.” 😀 😀 😀
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Nights_at_Freddy%27s
I think I would pay money to watch @warzan and @dignity playing 5 nights at freddy’s with the lights off and volume high 🙂
Great show! Oh, and that little Warren scream had my girls going “that spooked me.” Made me chuckle.
Yay, Warren’s back! I do enjoy the tangents and theories. I find them highly entertaining .
Those Samuri are amazing! Might have to pick up a unit for KoW.
Best vibe from a show in a while, nice.
Great show peeps…. So when are we likely to see a 40k/Saga/Frostgrave boot styler camp?????
Happy Sunday!
Well, if bloodbowl pretty much stays the same, i’m not going back to it, having too much fun with Dreadball and Dreadball Xtreme to go back to that.
New Frostgrave! Can’t wait for their Nicstarter and the new book!
See you next week
So looking forward to Adeptus Titanicus, hope they bring back Necromunda as well
Great show! Any chance you could get Ben filming some Saga stuff? Unfortunately I can’t make it to the ironman contest they’re putting on on 23rd July (I turn 40 on 22nd so am planning on being busy!). Any chance you could send Ben +1 to cover it? Damn I wish I could go!
Oh and please, please, look into running a SAGA event like you’ve just finished with infinity or a Saga weekend that gives me an excuse to come and meet you!
Still got a lot of the old “epic” scale minis, (some even painted) and it’s good that it’s coming back, but still a bit wary of taking it up again – got burnt last time they sunseted the specialist games range.
I made the mistake of watching right till the end with headphones on. Needless to say I am going underpants shopping first thing tomorrow morning.
Happy Sunday!
The new Frostgrave looks cool.
As for the GW new (old) stuff. I think they are playing it on the nostalgia stuff and again younger gamers who did not had a chance to play these games as Justin said. On the other hand, Warren nailed it for me.
The issue with developing an IP that is a cross-cultural success is that it has to appeal to everybody, not just folks like us. We have no problem getting invested in Fantasy universes. “The Emperor of Mankind is a 10,000 year old corpse whose immortal soul is the beacon that holds the Imperium together, but to keep his soul alive requires the daily sacrifice of thousands of people.”
General audiences are perfectly happy to go to the next Comics-based movie and watch the good-guys punch the bad-guys.
I enjoyed the show. If you make “doors” for Warhammer Quest they should be arches not doors.
I can see the point of the designers of not including any doors because there can only be 3 or 4 rooms on the table at a time. Rooms disappear after you go a couple rooms ahead.
Good stuff guys and welcome back Warren.
Was it not the bad lands in the US that got hit with a flood plus didn’t Ireland get hit by a comet/meteor 10/20 thousand years ago @warzan
What about the LotR silmarillion with army’s of dragon’s/coldone’s /balrog’s and the like?
A Great show.
The business aspect of this industry has usually interested me. I think we are heading to a slight contraction in the overall industry or as some call it a correction. (this isn’t a bad thing just a normal aspect of industry and is part of a healthy system) The place that GW holds in all of this probably the most important of any of the businesses. As stated about building a paradigm shattering IP being important for GW and the industry to make the huge leap that video games have done recently in the past, I don’t see GW as the ones that are ready to make that leap. Not sure who, if anyone, will make that leap but GW is working on others IPs and seem afraid of jumping into something new with a long term plan if it will take away from their current cash cows. It will take a large leap of faith to make it happen and great story telling to create something that will cross over to movies and other media. GW started as a company to make a multitude of games with many different ideas and this doesn’t seem to be their MO anymore. Not bashing them (I know it may sound like it) they are in a good place and have a lot on their plate, this just may be something that someone else puts together.
Nope, nope, nopers. No more GW stuff rehashed for the gazillionth time until there’s a proper (with terrain) demo for Frostgrave. No more allusions, no more lustings for various figures to use in the game: Justin and Ben must film a demo game. Lloyd and John can make the table. Warren can set the story and Justin and Ben can have at it on camera. You all rave about Frostgrave, now play it.
Great video as always, glad to see them do the Live Blog for all three days, and not be locked up somewhere, lol. And the scream at the end was funny, I had the volume turned up, and my wife came running into the room asking what was the matter, gave me a good laugh.
Recently i have bought a lot of the new and old games from Games workshop and i can say that the quality of their games is great , a little expensive but really good quality my 2 prefered games from them right now is Warhammer Quest Silver tower and DeathWatch Overkill witch they can do a lot of expensions and i really thik they got the potentiel to do it
I was looking for plastic force-shields for Elder – Somewhere I saw concept designs for clear-plastic Warp-Gate doors = Silver Tower?
this is my night-time horror-fear – the hallway coats at the bottom of my stairs…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fDzdDfviLI
Good show.
Thanks for the link to the book
Super, super news about LoTR and The Hobbit. I am especially excited about the metal models. AWESOME!
Games workshop should put out a miniatures game that is very dark an gritty. Where every faction is evil. Scifi or fantasy it doesn’t matter. Not the big heroic stuff the do now.
Where playing dirty and backstabbing is encouraged. So you get an intresting and dynamic game because you never know what dirty trick your opponant is going to pull next.
they did that Inquisitor game with the giant 54mm figures – that would be cool to see in a regular format or a Chaos warband like in the old Realm of Chaos books
I watch/read BoW since 2014, and I watched all Weekenders and XLBS shows since that.
I had a strange idea today, “Lets watch the very first one of this show” from 2013. (Why I feel that it was so long ago? 😀 )
It was so nice to see where you guys and this show evolved! The improvement in audio and video quality is great, and you make this show very professional now! Oh, and there were X-wing minis on the desert board! Spaceship fighting near the ground was an old idea 😀
@warzan It made my smile that you had the same excitement and enthusiasm for anything about wargaming like these days! You are the avatar of wargaming happiness man! 😀
@lloyd and model railways? 😀 You were a bit shy in front of the camera back than Lloyd. 🙂
@dignity You were very slim back than man! :O
I think I will watch all Weekenders from the last 3 years, to see a piece of the waragming history.
Good job guys! Thank you for your work!
If you find any favourites or great moments feel free to send to me and we could make a “best of” in the future 🙂
I will! 😉
Those evil dwarves look brilliant!
I’m really interested to see what they do with Adeptus Titanicus. I never played that game but loved Epic – which grew out of it. Oddly, I’m not really angry that they’re doing it at 8mm instead of 6mm. I assume that’s as much a business decision to make the 3rd party providers (and hoarders like myself) incompatible. But given the quality they are capable of, I can see myself approaching this as a new game rather than picking up an old game in any case.
Glad to see the Hobbit coming back too.
I think those claims about the pyramids etc have largely been debunked. In particular, the pyramids are arranged at the edge of a rock shelf so that they didn’t sink into the sand.
That was a nice ramble. Savannah stories are the best stories. 🙂
