Wingspan & Just One Win Big For Spiel des Jahres

The final two winners were announced for both the Spiel des Jahres and Kennerspiel this year. The first accolade, the Spiel des Jahres, went to the very inventive Just One.

From Repos Production, this game is a cooperative affair where you work together to try and uncover as many mystery words as possible. You need to find the best clues to help your teammate so you're encouraged to be inventive and think outside the box, which no doubt did the game a lot of favours when it came to being selected.

Kennerspiel des Jahres

The winner of the Kennerspiel this year, no surprises here, went to Wingspan by Stonemaier Games.

This absolutely beautiful game is packed full of amazing illustrations and even teaches you a few things about birds as you play! This engine-building game won't suit everyone but it has worked as a good way to delve into board gaming for a lot of people.
