Will be following this, in between RL sticking it`s nose in.

Still playing catch up with last weekend`s BC, i will get through to the end one day 🙁

weland

I had a great time playing V4 at the bootcamp. I have been playing FOW since V2 and version 4 is a new experience, but still has all the qualities that attracted me to FOW. Cheers.

ghent99

2hours to my local shop to pick up the new books. Hope I can make it tomorrow.

dcurtis

The new rules for FoW V4 seem quite simple and straight-forward. Does anyone know how these rules for V4 compare to Team Yankee’s rules? The reason I ask is that I am more interested in the tech and “what if” of Team Yankee, but really like what I am hearing with V4. I would assume that the rules for V4 would translate nicely to Team Yankee since they have also adapted them for Early and Late War Periods, but just want to make sure before I dive in.

Thank you in advance for your insights.

brucelea

, I’ve been lucky enough to go to both bootcamp sand the two sets of rules play very similar in TY pretty much every on the table can damage everything else where as it depends what you field in FOW. Some of the seasoned FOW players didn’t like the more gamey elements (tanks huddled together) but you can house rule that out if you want more realistic spacing. What I can say is that both rule sets put a big smile on your face and lend themselves to some pretty epic battles.

dcurtis

Thank you for your insights. I think that has pretty much solidified my decision to pick up some TY forces and probably the El Alamein starter to have the mini rulebook and some sweet mid-war tanks.

theterraintutor

Im actually really starting to get interested in 15mm having got into Tanks with the kids. Interested in seeing how it scales up.

teamcritfail

I’m also a fellow Tanks player! I keep finding myself imagining having artillery and AT guns in Tanks, so I’m thinking FoW may just be what I need!

fancybearzod

Nice to see tutorial videos, makes it all the easier for pesky readers to get in. Great stuff guys.

teamcritfail

We’re the recipients of the giveaway already announced/notified? Just curious because I haven’t heard about it since the weekend. Getting my rulebook today, may pick up this starter or maybe use my Tanks collection to test out the game. Seems like good fun!

madgolem

Good to see more videos on 4th edition. Hope to see more battle repports.

phasestar

I’m ready. 🙂

milkshake

Picked by up El Alamein tomorrow…maybe my son and I will watch and play along.

anubis06

Great video but I am still going to wait for the Italian book to come out

rekky

I’m looking forward to seeing the coverage of this while I’m at work all weekend! Give me something to do!

carlson793

Already made time in my busy schedule tomorrow to get out to the shop to get the “trade-in upgrade” books. Haven’t had any free time to get up to speed on what’s changing; I’ve been too busy prepping North Africa terrain.

beeff86

Will be looking into playing flames of war when i am finished uni this year. hopefully i move to somewhere with a player base.

joewrightgm

This is lit! Love the painting videos, as I’m rubbish at painting.

aufbau

Will be keeping in touch with this series. The historicals have been peaking my interest as of lately

huscarle

Flames of War Boot camp vids set the standard. They are great resource for getting into a game especially if you a novice to the period. No need to stand on around outside looking in not knowing where to start.

jamest123

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

spacewolflord

Well that was a helpful how to play guide.

skaro4ever

wow love it think i may have to get this

cypher2009

My “El Alamein” box arrived today so been building the tanks. They go together so well and look brilliant even before paint. The rules look so much easier than V3. The cards are a brilliant addition. In bugger games, if a unit has one tank type… one card for the unit. Perfect. Really looking forward to getting into the game. 🙂

bmad

liking the blog so far 🙂

galloyien

New to miniatures and Flames of War. Reading and watching everything I can about buying and painting.

lehcyfer

I love the tiny tanks <3

lblunchboxlb

Ooh looks like it’ll be an exciting weekend!

spamelot

*shakes fist* dam BoW and their putting more things on my ‘wants’ list! The weekend looks like a blast, as do all your bootcamps!

kuritaes

good job

teamcritfail

Looking like 4th Edition may be my first foray into FoW, thanks guys for all of this coverage and thanks to Battlefront for all the promotion. I think you’ve got a new player!

norgalad

I really hope they release a set like the 3rd editions open fire set for this that was such a great way to get into the game

redd20

This is cool I just decided to join in on this game Thursday evening and happen to find that we are entering a new edition the next day.

mitchland

Theyve got some really great stuff in store, can’t wait to see what they’ve got next!

anthony122

Hobby shop opens up at 10 am. I’ll be heading there first thing to pick up the rules and maybe some tanks…

ethren

Yeah another weekend of FoW.

bristolpirate

Looking forward to seeing the revised main / larger starter set (Open Fire?) when it comes out with 4th ed rules and lots of plastic!

chris60163

I’m really enjoying the new 4th edition coverage, I’m hoping there’s a lets play planned for the future….

gazky

I think I will be jumping into this game, if you asked me a year ago about historical gaming
I would have laughed at you but I really am becoming interested in this.

warwolf

It’s freezing out but I have to soldier on and go pickup the new books!

bothi

Didn’t it already launch last weekend? 😀 [/irony]

mikeyboy403

More FoW, brilliant!! I’m seriously considering selling my 28mm ww2 to move fully into 15mm as I find it easier to game, especially big games and to paint. I would rather paint 19 15mm tanks compared to 1 28mm tank.

erion

They aren’t messing around with the launch content, are they?

mo3355

Very excited to watch this all weekend!

davidquinn77

Another weekend of FOW…… YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

daegren

The new edition is looking fantastic. Keep up the videos.

noyjatat

Now I have a painted force from the Boot Camp, I am definitely looking to expand it and play some more games with friends.

angelicdespot

I think this is a very fun way to launch a new game.

volkbane

Looking forward to all the v4 content!

cuscus

Getting the books this afternoon and can’t wait to get miniatures back on the table

astralwraith

taken a week to rebuild my pc after it died last weekend so I’ve got a lot of stuff to catch up on this weekend

panzertanker64

I will need to check my tank found . Lol

roguellama

Exciting stuff. I know a guy with some 15mm Afrika Korps already, so I’ll be looking into getting some Rats together in the near future. Looking forward to painting some of that funky blue/sand camo 🙂

astralwraith

very clear explanations in the quick start video

multifish

Mainly play large scale stuff, but this has got me thinking of looking smaller scale for bigger battles

ravenoak

Exiting weekend. Looks like I need to get the 4th edition

ghent99

Would be nice if the orders would have arrived. Some of us won’t be playing. Not even going to bother with this weekend updates blog anymore.

ahabdarab

I can not wait to buy these new models. The new plastic kits look great!

panzertanker64

Nice blog ,

billyross

FOW newbie here, looks like I got into FOW at just the right time 🙂 Can’t wait till my 4th Edition stuff arrives Monday !!!

dammitprawn

Wow, more lovely Flames of War joyness! Thanks guys!

leonjong

Don’t want to be a negative nancy but I do feel those painting guides could be better. Staining the whole surface and then re-applying a beige colour is just a bad idea

redvers

I’d like to thank Battlefront for their excellent customer support and service. I couldn’t get to a launch event this weekend to collect my 4th edition so contacted them. With a picture of my 3rd edition, they promised to send me a copy of 4th edition. Brilliant customer support and if only all companies offered this level of support the world would be a happier place.

battlefront

Thanks for the comment!

We’re pleased to tell you that are the randomly selected winner of one of the new Mid War plastic tank boxes. Congratulations. We’ve sent you a private message with more details.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our launch weekend. We’ve really appreciated all the comments, and we look forward to our next opportunity to run an event like this next time we have a major release.

Cheers!

redvers

Wow – it just gets better! Thanks!

roppa760

Great blog guys

felixpike

So excited to get my hands on those Crusaders!

jolnir

Pretty amped for the release. The new rules should allow me to dust off some old units and buy some new ones for my Germans.

thunderwarp

I do appreciate that Battlefront gives a new rulebook to existing players for free when they make their new versions. Although the new edition can be a bit disruptive, at least we can try the new rules without having to go buy a new book. And since they did it last edition as well it helps in recruiting new players, especially converting players who are familiar with the tactics of certain other companies when moving to new versions.

cybermonkey

Managed to miss out on most of the weekend BUT have ordered a el alamein starter box and the desert rats book. Hoping to get into some 15mm gaming 🙂

leach145

Looks great! Can’t wait to have a go!

dodgyfarmer

What a great launch weekend. My El Alamein set is on the way. First time playing a desert game. No bogging down in mud for a change.

dimdim

Gotta say this has been an excellent weekend of content

staxer

Looking forward to the late war edition too

tinfish

Fun times, more toys I can’t afford and more hours to work to pay for some of it 😀

nashwyrd

Exciting stuff

outriderhobbies

Got the new books this weekend. Still debating El Alamein…

ancientsound

There is alot on this page sadly last week I had no time to keep up with this stuff but now I have the time 🙂

carnagerules

Have really been enjoying , the updates. Looking forward to get started with fourth edition myself.

admiralandy

Like the look of the more user friendly approach, and the African campaign retains an almost romanticized version of WW2 where it was a straight up fight by opponents who respected each other. Nice to see a launch edition of a WW2 game not being just D-day or later focused.

tinfish

Do find it somewhat disappointing that Tiger Ace skills now boil down to a better remount rating. I Wonder if command cards will offer them some personality.

lagazzete

Just buyed 2 alamein with a Friend.
Love V4
