Dystopian Wars by elmir

We start off this week with elmir returning to the Dystopian world and showing off some of the new miniatures from Dystopian Wars. elmir has had their hands on some of the newest releases and got them painted up in his standard, glorious, fashion!

Dystopian Wars #1 by Elmir 2024

First up, we have the Chione which is one of the submarines for The Enlightened. elmir has managed to nail that "uncanny" and slightly eerie edge that you get from The Enlightened and I love that there's something incredibly Sci-Fi about this whilst also feeling distinctly ancient at the same time. The large, (reinforced) glass front is also brilliant and a great way to show off the glow of energy from within whilst also reflecting the murky depths that they are perhaps floating through.

Dystopian Wars #2 by Elmir 2024

The Chione looks fantastic and I think as well as the glow effects, you've also got lots of work going into the impressive weathering too. I also like that the lights are all towards one end as well, making it feel like one of those bioluminescent fish that you'd see floating through the depths of the ocean.

As well as that submarine, we also have the impressive Ordor Colossi which fight alongside the Sultanate on the tabletop.

Dystopian Wars #3 by Elmir 2024

The schemes, once again, look fantastic and I like the fact that elmir has managed to fold in lots of interesting colour changes to match the more alien quality of the Order Colossi. The green/blue hue to the metallics makes it feel a little more Sci-Fi which is neat, especially when twinned with the purple glow. They have also been posed to look suitably menacing, ready to crash down into the ocean and destroy enemy vessels.

The Silver Bayonet by orinoco

Next up, we're looking at the work of orinoco who has been delving deep into The Silver Bayonet. This game seems like one that captured a lot of people's attention, perhaps because of the quasi-historical nature to it and the fact that it allowed hobbyists to do plenty of kitbashing in a slightly different "Fantasy" universe.

The Silver Bayonet #1 by orinoco

With that in mind, orinoco has been doing some awesome painting for both a British Unit and a French Unit. Each of the units has been detailed with a breakdown of how they were painted as well as where the parts for the miniature came from. I loved this Native Scout for example who was made from Perry Miniatures and Warlord Games bits. I think it also helps that orinoco has done some great photography for these miniatures using the backdrops from Jon Hodgson.

This has then turned into a full British Unit which looks awesome when collected all together.

The Silver Bayonet #2 by orinoco

The fun has continued into a full French Unit as well. So, there are now two factions battling it across wartorn Europe, fighting monsters and everything in between. It might be treasonous to say but I think that perhaps the French Unit looks a bit cooler than the British one!

The Silver Bayonet #3 by orinoco

Hopefully, these features on The Silver Bayonet continue and we see the painting of these miniatures transferring to some games and perhaps some battle reports in the future. It would also be quite fun to see some painting of monsters that these Units are going to be going up against.

Immortal Hulk by 144artist

Last but not least, my breath was taken away by this amazing take on Immortal Hulk from Marvel: Crisis Protocol. 144artist has done some sterling work here and turned this rampaging comic book character into a brilliant piece that I'd be happy to have on the shelf.

Hulk #1 by 144artist

I really like the work that has gone into Hulk's skin in particular. Rather than the miniature having a relatively flat green for the muscles, 144artist has done a stunning job of shading the miniature and then working up the highlights gradually. It has created a really "arty" look to the final product.

Hulk #2 by 144artist

The same goes for the purple pants that Hulk has managed to successfully rip (once again)  and the base which has been painted quite darkly to make sure that the focus is on the Hulk himself. I also think the facial details have come out well and the eyes look brilliant too!

Hulk #3 by 144artist

Some brilliant work as I think you'll agree from 144artist. If you're looking to check out more of the work on Marvel: Crisis Protocol then make sure to head on over and dive into the project link above.
