Community Spotlight: Mythos Adventurers, Sheltered Animals & 10mm Napoleonics!

...make sure to always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.

The World Of Mythos by elysium64

We are exploring some Lovecraftian goodness to begin with thanks to the work by elysium64. Here are some absolutely stunning miniatures from the new version of the game by Warcradle Studios and in particular here, a focus on The Priory.

Mythos #1 by elysium64

The painting on these characters is absolutely phenomenal and there is SO much detail worked into these individuals. I love the way that they have been built in and in particular the way the highlighting has worked out. The facial details in particular really pop and give a real sense of realism to each of them. Also, object source lighting!

Mythos #3 by elysium64

Each of the main characters from The Priory have been painted up and they are looking wonderful. There is a nice sense of the Pulp to them, especially in the colour choices. I like that they are more colourful than you might image, putting me in mind of comic book investigators. Admittedly, it is a terrifying comic book...but it works really nicely!

It's not just the human characters getting painted up either. You've also got the massive Maharal who is stomping into the mix.

The sandy and earthy texture to the model has come across nicely and I like the way that it has been dirtied up around the feet. The metallic work here also gets a big thumbs up, mixing together a bit of the "modern" with something more ancient. Another superb miniature packed with life and vibrance.

Away from The Priory which could be "the good guys" we've also got Click Clack here from The Hidden Ones. The painting here again is a nice blend of realism and something more cartoony to make the miniatures pop all the more.

I can't wait to see what else gets finished for this particular collection. Maybe elysium64 will end up painting some more of the quirky new additions to the Mythos world as well! Either way, this certainly deserves a golden button!

Burrows & Badgers In Isolation by thehumungus

Next, we move onto a project which has been growing whilst in isolation. Now, you can't blame me (Ben) for this as Gerry picked this one! Here we have some wonderful Burrows & Badgers creatures from thehumungus.

These miniatures appear to have been around for a little while and so the isolation proved a perfect time for them to get dropped onto the hobby table and painted up. I think they look absolutely amazing and they really show off how fun these models are to paint. I never grow tired of seeing the varied ways people paint these up.

The Badger above looks amazing but I found this Otter is just...amazing. I love the way the fur has been done and the way that the blending has been done from shade to shade. It looks stunning and the dark fur works well against the brighter outfit.

Burrows & Badgers #2 by thehumungus

I finish my delve into this project with a final pick from thehumungus' finished miniatures. This is a brilliant Fox who is on the hunt and feels like a proper Dark Age/Medieval rogue who is wandering in the woods.

Burrows & Badgers #3 by thehumungus

As you can see, the miniatures have been painted with a mix of contrast paints and traditional options too. I think it works well, especially for getting miniatures done quickly. You can also check out even more of the work-in-progress miniatures on the project link above.

10mm Peninsular Napoleonics by tonysilvey

We finish in the realm of Historical wargaming and some very tiny 10mm Napoleonics from tonysilvey for use in Black powder or General D'armee. This is a selection of the Pendraken Miniatures collection and the British are on the march.

10mm Peninsular Napoleonics #1 by tonysilvey

These are some sterling little pieces from tonysilvey and I like that there has been a lot of effort put into painting up the uniforms so that you can mark out where certain elements of it begin and end. It would have been very easy just to go with blue and white and forget the red!

10mm Peninsular Napoleonics #2 by tonysilvey

This then goes to the next level with some more of these infantry options. The facial details have been picked out very nicely and the little additions like the yellow and red plumes add to the overall charm of the army. They might be tiny but they are mighty!

10mm Peninsular Napoleonics #3 by tonysilvey

This is a wonderful little collection of miniatures for creating a vast army of awesome soldiers. I think that this smaller scale is absolutely perfect for those who want to show off the grandeur of these battles and get the numbers just right. Phwoar, it's a lovely little project!
