The Elder Scrolls: Call To Arms Terrain by BursonCarpathian

We start out this week with a look at some amazing terrain by BursonCarpathian for The Elder Scrolls: Call To Arms. The initial game release by Modiphius focused around the land of Skyrim and so that is the theme for these wonderful looking terrain pieces.

Skyrim Terrain #1 by BursonCarpathian

BursonCarpathian is a massive fan of the video game and so they really wanted to dive in and paint up/model a bunch of fantastic pieces which represented the different regions of Skyrim. As well as a few incidental pieces like the one you see above, giving you a living breathing world to explore, there are also some much larger pieces too.

Some really iconic locations have been brought to life including the Dark Brotherhood door that you see here...

...and there are plenty more! The Gildergreen Tree from Whiterun is part of this project plus the likes of the Watermill that you find when you head down into Riverrun for the first time. This really is a fantastic array of terrain pieces which will be fun to skirmish around when playing games of Call To Arms. Miniatures are very key of course but terrain really helps to set the scene.

Some of the terrain by Modiphius is also in the mix including the ruins of Bleak Falls Barrow, the first dungeon that you adventure into during Skyrim.

These have all come out looking totally awesome and I really like the distressed and weathered stone. It gives the terrain a realistic look, especially when matched with the well thought out basing materials. There is just enough scrub and grass sitting alongside a few flowers here and there. I would imagine that there has been a lot of looking at reference images to get this all spot on.

Star Saga Miniatures by onlyonepinman

As well as adventuring into a world of Fantasy we also have a look at the Star Saga miniatures painted by onlyonepinman.

Star Saga #1 by onlyonepinman

Star Saga is going to be the Spring Clean Challenge project from onlyonepinman for this year and they are making sure to get started early with the work that has already gone into the project. The Kickstarter core box and all of its additional extras have been sitting untouched for a long time and so it seems like a great time to dive in and get it all painted up.

Star Saga #2 by onlyonepinman

One of the core principles behind the project is to paint up the miniatures as close to the artwork in the books and manuals as possible. This is also handy because its a board game and it is very handy to immediately be able to tell what is what when playing games.

This is also a joint project between onlyonepinman and their brother because they both dived in on this. There is some serious batch painting that needs to be done for this, especially as a board game, but the results so far are looking great.

Star Saga #3 by onlyonepinman

I really like the miniatures we've seen so far in the project and this is just a taster of what's available for you to have a peek at. As well as the miniatures you see here there are also plenty of the main characters and more that have been painted up recently.

Being a board game, there is a definitive endpoint when it comes to the completion of this project. I am eager to see more of what onlyonepinman and their brother finish up over the coming weeks and soon they'll have a whole mountain of models to play games with!

Frostgrave Barbarians by Demonsub

The last entry for this week comes in the form of a Frostgrave Barbarian warband. Demonsub in the community has been working on a full warband for use in the skirmish game by Osprey and things have started off strong with both a Wizard...

...and an Apprentice now finished for the game. I really like the choice of greens and browns for these Barbarians, very earthy tones which work well for their wild nature. I like that the details have been brought out really nicely on both figures too with a nice bit of highlighting here and there.

The basing should also be commended. It would be easy to just make it entirely snowy but I like that you can see some of the earth poking through and a bit of hardy vegetation too. There is a lot more to do for this warband you'll see here...

...but I have faith that we'll get an excellent looking warband at the end of all of this. As well as being an awesome set for use in Frostgrave this could also be the start of a nice warband for games like Warlords Of Erehwon as an example. Make sure to follow along with the project linked above to see the progress on the project. I can't wait to see the big beast painted!
