Kill Team! I’ve been dying to get into that!
I think you need a copy of the core rules to use this set as it’s an expansion, not a starter set.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong here, please.
It is an expansion – you still need either the Starter Set or a Rulebook and set of Dice.
Happy Weekender All hope this finds you all keeping safe and enjoying your hobby. Very much enjoyed reading Hero Hammer this week really pushed the nostalgia button and enjoyed the the old school battle report, great read, highly recommend. Cracking show as always ?
Time to Kill those pesky Ultramarines 🙂
ssth … I’m hunting Smurfs 😉
No your not, they’ve got you right where they want you Limburger ???
There not pesky, there the Emperors finest ?
Time for some Comment
The weekend starts now!
Let’s see if I can get some miniatures painted this weekend.
Super, fantastic, great show.
For those that don’t play Kill Team already, you’ll need a rulebook as it’s an expansion.
Hero Hammer is perfectly timed. 4th/5th Ed Warhammer seems to be going through a massive revival down-under, or ‘Warhammer Renaissance’. Who did’t love the fact that your armies were a hero and an army that tagged along while he wrecked everything that got in his way.
Was very Warhammer that’s for sure
Already got Kill Team starter, but I wanted the Necron boards and terrain, so picked them up from ebay… someone obviosuly just wanted the marines/necrons.
It’s time for the Weekender!
Welcome to the show @free.
Speaking of free, I’ve always enjoyed fan made magazines and have for sometime enjoyed SBG. I believe it was one of the old Beasts of War shows that turned me on to that mag. I’ve thought of buying the hardcopy version and now that I’ve seen it in someone’s hands I think I will order some of them…….(probably all of the). I never played the old Warhammer but I will check out Herohammer.
Be’lakor for ‘AGE OF SIGMAR’ looks stunning. I personal don’t play the darker factions in AoS but I can see buying this mini just to have to put on the table to photograph my armies squaring off against.
Party games are something that shouldn’t be… but that’s just me, the old ranty grognard…
Party games are brilliant for down the pub!
Ah pubs. I remember those
Do you shave or wax?
I’ve not shaved for … a few years. It’s never got to the stage where I’d wax it though.
You meant my face, right?
Oh that penny just dropped. Send coffee.
When I’m at the pub I want to chat with friends, have a drink and maybe listen to good music. That being said “Party Games” in Germany are more things like “Roller Coaster Hippo” aaaaand I never liked those. Sit down, have a chat and a pint and just leave the world outside…
oh how do i miss that.
SBG Magazine is great. Love Middle Earth.
They did a darn good job on it for sure
IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ IIII/ …
It’s another Weekend, approx the 50th since lockdown began! Thankfully there are some things to help preserve sanity, bring on the OTT folk!
without the OTT weekender I wouldn’t even know if there was a Weekend.
I feel like a pariah in my nexus … 😀
Nice show all, fine way to kick off the weekend.
@brennon Did you ever see Shoatima the otter bowman Reaper did a number of years ago as part of the Order of Justice and Cake? https://miniset.net/sets/rm-01429
an its weekender time YAY
My favourite SAGA drinking game! Have a great weekend folks!
Congratulations Free, one down and lots more to go. Well done not a foot wrong, even if you did get Lloyds knickers in a knot, it will take a train load of box-cars to get you kicked out now. Enjoy the ride, I did.
Otterhood an his merry voles.
The new Be’Lakor is frickin’ gorgeous!
I really like those new MO models for PanO, damn, I wanted to stop buying more Infinity for a while.
I was considering jumping into Warhammer Fantasy and then they killed it and put out AoS and it killed my interest. Moved on to Kings of War and loved it.
Infinity stuff still looking very enticing..
Jezz, Warren looks way different when he shaves his beard off…?. Those goblin green bases bring back some memories in hero hammer.
I’m tempted to do all my bases in lurid goblin green again now
Super Fantasy Brawl is fantastic. Really enjoy the game.
Very cool, that Hero Hammer looks SO good! Can’t wait to read it!
Good morning community of tabletop heroes.
The Baron’s War stuff… So nice! Though I’d want it for Fantasy rather than historical, heathen that I am!
Quarantine Kittens is such a good idea, it also means we can play against anyone anywhere in the world!
You forgot Irregular Magazine…we’ve been running since 2009 and every issue is free to download……;)
http://www.irregular-magazine.com
And an excellent magazine it is
I never miss the opportunity to shamelessly plug it lol….
I liked the oldhammer mag.. I always keep an eye out for zines.. I cut my writing teeth as a teen on some 80s D&D zines. Though back then they were stapled B&W photocopy mags.
Some more zines, problem is that many are short lived.

I just got my Baron’s War stuff and can’t wait to get stuck in. Really excited for Stargrave, too.
Those Pariah Nexus marines would be a good addition to my Space Wolves ;D
I’ve started building some crews for Stargrave…looking forward to getting some games in soon.
I’m planning a motley crew of female pirates for one of the war bands.
That’s cool. I’m leaning on the idea of the Reavers from Firefly as my SG warband.
So thrilled to see our fanzine in the spotlight today on the weekender and a massive thanks for your positive words in regards to the work put into it by the team. We look forward to bringing you more in future in bi-monthly releases. Cheers
Is yours the Odhammer mag or SBG both are good mags. I came across Herohammer about a week ago. It’s a great read, and I love the retro style design, it reminded me of old White Dwarf mags.
Hero Hammer
I’ve been reading through it this morning. Most of it is before my time (I started with 6th edition in 2001) but I’m digging it 😀
young un
We can’t all be chronologically challenged ;D
The fanzines Indie of the week are excellent thank. I loved the Infinity week. We need more BOW/OTT themed weeks hopefully once Covid is under control. Cheers all.
Did fanzines die out, or do websites just do the same job in incriments instead of periodic data dumps? I could never get in to magazines. I try now and again, but I just cant bring myself to read them, only reference the one or two pages that may interest me, so I guess I;m not a good judge on this.
Fanzines died out because of the internet, blogs became easier and potentially could reach a bigger audience.
I the last 15 years online downloadable PDF zines became popular because desktop publishing software became easier and more accessible. So we’ve seen a resurgence in zines again. The biggest problem they have is getting content. This is generally the main reason why a lot of them fall by the wayside or turn into blogs.
You have to do a Napoleon vs Necrons battle report now.
great show, love the kromlech stuff as always
and while these modern fanzines look cool, where are the (poorly) photostated a5 black and white ones of my childhood (complete with play by mail game adverts)
even more plastic crack hmmm … nice to see new blood goodluck
Wow I really love the indy of this week. I am a big fan of oldhammer. And lotr is always nice to see. Thanks for the show.
New killteam box looks fun. Small scale, good for playing with my kids.
welcome in Cult Free
Purge ’em
Another Great Weekender Today with all the awesome new items. A Barons War mashup with Burrows & Badgers would be awesome to play
Great prize, great show, always a highlight if the weekend
Looks like it’s time for the Tastey Boys to move on, there’s a new flavour in town. A very warm welcome to Freeland, welcome to the family.
Herohammer fanzine, I’m looking forward to reading it. I never really got in to WH, but I just loved the minis. My favorites are the Goblins, don’t know why, but it could have something to do with there sneaky back stabbing ways.
Wargames Atlantic resistance fighters look amazing, not only could you use them for any country’s resistance, but you could also use them in zombie games. They could even be used in Alien invasion games.
Now Stargrave’s minis have a lot of potential, I have some many ideas bouncing round my head it hurts.
Once again, welcome to Freeland. May your stay here be warm and Fuzzy.
The hero hammer and SBG magazines are awesome. Loving the footsore stuff as well. Pariah nexus looks great as well, and belakor! Another great show!
Unexpected Hot Fuzz reference, awesome stuff Ben!
That’s not lil Jon, where’s the Dreads and the gold teeth!
I think that @avernos has been such a good boy resisting the temptation of the Baron’s war miniatures that he should treat himself as a reward. Perhaps some Baron’s War miniatures might be a fitting reward.
In other news, I watched one of the Footsore live streams a few weeks ago and they were discussing the Baron’s War and they said that the next kickstarter will be the last for a while as they want to focus on some of the other conflicts of the period outside of England and I am sure they mentioned the crusades and the fact that most of the Baron’s War miniatures would be equally useful for pretty much any other conflict they choose to visit
Thanks for pointing out the Herohammer fanzine. It brought a tear to my eye as it reminded me of when I started Warhammer in the 90s. It also looks amazing and I hope it lasts for a long time.
Be’lakor also looks awesome and I could see it in a lot of other game systems.
HeroHammer looks really great!
I like the board game talk.
Kill teams to face my Tau? Love my friend and I’s old Tau Necron rivalry. Time to bring it back.
Happy weekender guys!!!
Loving the Hero Hammer fanzine. Takes me back a bit!
I do miss Old Hammer in that the miniatures were a lot less fussy and had more character. What I don’t miss is trying to rank them up especially the dwarf pirates and slayers.
Great episode, some serious nostalgia for the glory days of Warhammer.
The Herohammer magazine makes me nostalgic!
Too bad it’s really hard to get your hands on great fanzines these days
Welcome to the Beasts, Free! 🙂
In for the win!
Dam can not remembered if i commented just love working nights.
The Nekropolis terrain looks nice
MOM Miniatures look amazing!
I really need to download that magazine…
I hope we’ll get more info on TAG Raid in the next Weekender
I like the new WWX stuff!
The Robin Hood minis look good, I hope we’ll see more of them.
The Kromlech stuff looks great. Belakor also.
The WWX Pride looks great!
I don’t do hammers often, but when I do, I prefer them old.
