Verrotwood Beasts by ewokkebab

Leading the way for this week, we have some scary beasts that have been kitbashed and painted up by ewokkebab for use in the awesome grimdark skirmish game, Verrotwood. These weird and demonic creatures have been crafted using a bunch of different Games Workshop miniatures as a base before others bits and bobs have been added into the mix.

I have always been a fan of these sorts of Folk Horror creatures. You get the sense that they may once have been guardians of the forest and the woodland in general but have been twisted by the sins of humanity and the cultists that roam around. It also means you get to play around with a bunch of different colours that give you very interesting vibes!

I love this miniature in particular. Something about this just clicked for me and I think it looks stunning. I can't wait for this to be rampaging through the woods, hunting down cultists.

A breakdown of how these have been painted and the reasoning behind building them as he has have been included in the project. This isn't all for Verrotwood and ewokkebab though as they have also been working on all sorts of interesting terrain pieces and more that are going to be used with the game. This Witch's Hut in particular looks amazing.

I would recommend that you dive in and have a look at more of the work as part of this project. It is a proper kitbashers dream and should have you playing around and thinking about all sorts of different ideas. The world is your terrifying and slightly unhinged oyster I would say!

Judge Dredd Scum by robojoel

robojoel is also back this month with another range of characters that are going to be dropped into one of the games they have been playing. This time it's Judge Dredd from Warlord Games as Mega-City One fills up with scum that need to be shoved into the Iso Cubes.

The sculpts have been painted with a zenith in that "Slapchop" method and then given a good dose of Contrast Paint to bring all of the miniatures to life. I think it works well and is a solid way to get that cool comic book/graphic novel approach for the world of Judge Dredd.

Judge Dredd Scum #2 by robojoel

Lots of poppy colours are in the mix as well which is nice to see. You want to try and get those vibes of the comic book and dropping lots of poppy colours into the mix does do that. It also means that you get to have a bit more fun when painting too. The nice final touch for a few of these miniatures has been a bit of highlighting here and there just to bring out the details.

Judge Dredd Scum #3 by robojoel

These are just three of the miniatures from robojoel's selection of nine scum that need to be cleared off the streets. According to their project, the next addition to this Judge Dredd range is going to be some Fatties which are ready to go pop!

Kings Of War Frost Giant by Bexx

Last but not least, we have some Fantasy painting from Bexx. They have changed their focus from Moonstone to Kings Of War and painted up a pretty awesome Frost Giant from the Mantic Games range.

Frost Giant #1 by Bexx

I have to say that I think Frost Giants are my favourite kind of giant. There's something about those shaggy, blue-skinned badasses that makes them incredibly fun to paint and see on the tabletop. I like the detailed work across this miniature and the lovely contrast that you get between the natural browns and off-whites next to the ice blue.

The finished project looks all the more impressive and I have to say, the base is also pretty darn brilliant!

Frost Giant #2 by Bexx

You get the sense that this Frost Giant has just stomped down from the mountains or crawled out of the sea and is ready to smash apart some nearby settlement that has been built on his land. The base does a really good job of mirroring the "cold" elements of the Frost Giant and acts as a solid frame for the piece. A great addition to the warring armies of Pannithor from Bexx!
