Thank heaven for the Weekender! It feels like it’s been a long time since last weekend.
(been very busy at work)
Double espresso is ready and the show is up on the big screen in the movie room.
Let the good times roll!
Happy weekend to you too mate!
Happy Weekend!!
I’m really excited about Tenfold Dungeon. It’d be nice for a game of Necromunda or Kill Team or any of the scenarios from Into the Breeding Pits for Frostgrave.
40K prize always brings everyone out, but Reichbusters looks amazing! Looking forward to get my pledge.
Always put a juicy grub on the hook mate lol 😉
and that boxed set is a juicy grub indeed!
Happy Sunday everyone, Hmm Warhammer Urban Conquest, now that sounds good. Could be my new in to 40k after being away for yrs now. And cannot wait to up my Reichbusters pledge and “go all in” as Warzan would say.
It’s the Weekend!!
After seeing how Lloyd fitted out his hobby room last week, looking forward to finding out which OTT character is showing us how they’ve fitted out his/her fetish dungeon; although I’d have though that was definitely one for XXXLBS…
…or have I misunderstood the title?
Checkout Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe (near High Wycombe)for cave/tunnel action.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellfire_Caves
Is this finally leading us into the fetish dungeon piece?
Fetish Dungeon Explorer! 😉
Complete with Justins other yellow blanket?
.
Congrats to @avernos for getting further in the Harry Potter series than I did
lol cynics the pair of ya lol
Its just Grange Hill with sparklers and Bengal matches isn’t it?
pretty much lol
I was dragged to it by my girlfriend at the time, Mel. The things we do for love eh
You missed the next line
‘But I won’t do that!’
certainly not more than once, christ it was balls.
you obviously haven’t seen the one with the big snake in it then 😉
I get told I don’t have enough whimsy in my life when I mention how much I hate the Harry otter books. God, they’re awful!
EDIT: I meant Harry Potter, obviously. Harry Otter would be something competely different!
hairy otter
What can I say? I preferred the film to the book.
And the sequel, Hairy Otter 2: The Second Coming
And the third: Hairy Otter and the Mighty Wand.
I think that stuff of 4grounds that you showed is the first of their ranges I am tempted by
Table size?. 2×2?,4×4?…God sake do it properly or not at all. Straight to 8×5 in my book
Calm down man 😉
I might however actually have somthing in the works to appeal to your 6mm fetish 😉
You have my attention
Is the explorer Lloyd was trying to remember Shackleton by any chance
I think that is who hes thinking of.
No doubt he will chime in to let us know @lloyd
Ah @torros that’s the very bloke!
Fond memories of building and painting the original plastic ‘beaky’ Space Marines from WH40k Rogue Trader 🙂
I think I still have a few of those around somewhere.
Good stuff!
It’s weekender time! 🙂
Gaslands = Fallout woohoo!!
happy weekender day peoples
The demo table would be best on 3×3 as any bigger would be too much work for Lloyd and his perfection OCD.
Really interested in the new bolt action paint sets as I have struggled personally know which paint to use for each faction.
Waiting on the pledge manager for Reich Busters with baited breath
Those gaslands mats look awesome.
Not normally a SM fan, but those blood angels are beautiful miniatures.
Regolith…. go Lloyd!!! the dirt is called Regolith and it’s O not O2 (Sorry Justin original post was a bit harsh ;))
O sounds dangerous, an oxidising agent like that and they’re collecting it? This is why colonies would fail they leave the chemists behind and the lunatics who are sent would end up drinking ozone!
LMAO
*Luna-tics*…….I see what you did there @avernos!
Science Yo! 🙂
What are all these people doing in my living room? HALP! I’m long since gone from 40k but maybe a *prize* could lure me back in… *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*
Plus, because I’m not certain @lancorz read my (and @amachan ) response on twitter: We’re sorry Lance, we didn’t mean to put you under any stress. We’re just happy to have Hobby Hangout and were sad that it seemed to short the last times. But I didn’t know that HH is something extra. I always assumed it’s part of the program like the weekender and other content. Please take my apologies and don’t feel stressed. I won’t say “I’ll behave” because that would impact my pun-ratio, but I’ll do better 🙂 Ok? No hard feelings?
ah you’re fine, I didn’t mind at all 🙂
What? Gerry = Lance? What is this sorcery?!
we’re similar in height, 😉
How many Sams are there to a Gerry?
virticle or horizontal?
vertical… horizontal would be rude!
And there’s no rudeness on this show!
Gerry has secretly been a collection of Sams in a trenchcoat this whole time.
If that has not a ceasar comic in it XD
Happy weekend everyone. Urban conquest looks terrific, my kill teams need this set but how many product lines do they want with the name conquest in it?
Reichbusters is easily my most anticipated game of the year!!
I think Harry Potter would be best suited to a Betrayal at the House on the Hill treatment. Lots of random scenarios with mysteries to be solved and rooms from Hogwarts and surroundings.
Many great news this week. The Tenfold Dungeon terrain is such a cool and simple idea. The only thing it needs is a stronger box to store it in because I don’t trust to leave it like that on the shelf. The Blood Angels you showed with that paint job are so epic. I wish paint like that. And of course more cards for Warhammer Champions is always good news.
Titanics Board at 3X3 for a demo no need for bigger for a demo I feel
the new Warhammer 40,000: Urban conquest love the extra scatter as always but the developing campaign looks good
Happy Weekend! 🙂
The Mechnicus Anus Driller… made my day 😀
Other than that 🙂 a jam pack episode 🙂
great weekender ! keep up the great work.
that trailer is pretty awesome 😉 I look forward to the let’s play!! also jeeeeej contest 😉
btw the part with the blanket is golden comedy!!
nice weekender guys! would really love to win that prize and get an urban campaing going in my LGS
@warzan I hope you washed your hands after yanking Justin’s blanket. Those crusty bits aren’t superglue 😮
Dark Rituals has some really nice sculpts, the heroes have character and the monsters look vicious.
That’s what happens when you let imagination run wild on horror design. Good job!
Can we start a GoFundMe to get @dracs a new razor to get rid of that scruff?
?
New HH stuff: think Sam got drowned out so I’ll reiterate for him – the white hand is Isengard, not Mordor guys.
Am I the only one who’s not that bothered by foot-on-rock? ?
Agreed with Sam on the Thunderbird vibe.
On tunnel roads: isn’t this how hive cities start? ?
Where’s the game in HP: I suppose you could say the same about LotR or Star Wars; I think the game exists in the stuff happening ‘off camera’ away from the big name heroes (although like those two most people are going to want to use said heroes).
On what green WW2 minis should be: goblin green @dracs, goblin green for them all…?
Sam’s beard – I reiterate what I said above; he looks better without. 😉
“Everyone’s a giant to you Sam” – err, @lloyd , the character is Tormund Giants*bane*, not Tormund the Giant; it means he kills giants, not that he is one.
That’s all I’ve got time for atm; will commentnon the rest of the vid when I finish watching it after my D&D game.
I’m also not bothered by foot on rock, as long as the mini looks cool doing it.
AT board – agreed with Justin on size. Random thought, but if you want a small intro board, then maybe drop the Warlord and have a Warhound or two and a Knight banner or two per side as this would possibly allow you to build a denser board.
Sam finger puppet – now I want to see you guys do an entire Weekender or XLBS as finger puppets, lol.
Ten fold dungeon: dice roller tower sounds like a nice add on if it’s decorated to match the other boxes. If engineered right, could be used to help with the stacking to create multi-layers aspect.
Justin’s blanket: had a random thought when you wee announcing the winner – it’s a shame it wasn’t won by the ‘Why Heroquest is the greatest’ guy; just imagine him doing s vid on ‘Why Justin’s Blanket is the best!’ ?
Post vid blooper – we need more of these! 😉
table size, clearly 2×2 so you can get to the fighting faster, for a demo that’s what people want (even in games where maneuverer is an important part of the game
I believe the Reichbusters should be used for a Stargate-SG1 game. Especially after I saw the latest trailer.
I have seen a copy of the Gaslands mat and it is great. There is someone at my club who likes to play Gaslands and we play often. However, I hope the gang at OnTableTop reaches out to Steve Jackson Games as this year will be the long awaited release and reboot of Car Wars and we will see a Car Wars 6e very soon.
Since BattleTech is back in stock, the micro terrain at 6mm works well with BattleTech. Hopefully they create more.
I do like the way the characters in the Reich Busters video retain an element of plastic soldier about them in their animation.
The Room 17 box ‘o’ boxes has got to win some sort of innovation awards. I love the idea of a self contained dungeon, castle, town, whatever, that can be packed, put on the self and be pulled out and used at the drop of a hat. For solo dungeon crawling, it could be folded into Ganesha Games “Four Against Darkness” easily to get a bit 3D about it. they were smart to reduce the wall height for use clumsy folks. And a premium add-on (add-in) could be a card dice tower to contain those fireballs. They just need a starship or Zone Mortalis type box down the road.
Speaking of sci-fi terrain, with all the cool GW urban and mechanicum kits filling my do-to list (along with the original Necromunda cardboard set) the 40k Urban Conquest set is looking like an eventuality. What a way to go from Kill Team to full blown 40k battle.
Good morning, everyone.
Okay, in the midst of all this great content, I’d like to take a moment to also remind people that the latest episode of the Sitrep podcast is up and running here on OnTableTop.com.
We have some prize winners we announced on that Podcast, talked about tricks players can employ to make Team Yankee even better, discussed a new rules set, some events involving real-world special forces in action that are all-too-recent, and some of the fundamentals of modern asymmetrical warfare.
We also announced a new upcoming Oriskany Video Series – “The Ops Center.”
The link is below. Give it a listen while you’re painting or building, and leave a comment if you like.
https://www.beastsofwar.com/news/future-projects-rule-systems-and-our-wish-list-oh-and-give-away-winners/
We’d really appreciate your support as we’re trying to get this new platform off the ground, and maintain just a little more of a real-world focus on the content available. The team includes members of the community like myself and @grimwolfuk, and members of the OTT staff like @stvitusdancern .
Hope to see you there! In the meantime, lace up those jump boots and lock n’ load!
It seems like Warlord and Battlefront alternate back and forth with Vallejo and the Army Painter for box sets. The nice thing is they will both come out with new painting guides for the new set of paints.
Tha weekender was amazing. That urban cobat set also looks amazing
Happy to see the show again! It’s how I start my Saturdays!
Awesome prize up for grabs. Keep it coming fellas!
Happy weekend everyone. After last weekend and seeing Lloyd’s hobby cave I really should be doing more work on storage and organisation. That said had a great game of 40k last night. I lost with my blood angels and tempest scion force, but I did get the moral victory of my death company beating the genestealer cult’s leman russ into a bit exploded pile of scrap 1st turn with their bare hands.
@m30wm1x Collecting plastic boxes is the new hot hobby!
Shelves?… I thought you were building bunk beds for Sam
@lloyd keeping a stack of boxes would be ok if I was one to label things. The problem starts to seem like it needs fixing when you think you’ll be grabbing a 10 squad of blood angels and end up with some 15mm Stugs.
@lloyd You could fill them with miniatures and push them across the table .Or just use them as APC’s
@torros – oh hell yeah!
As a fantasy player for many many years, this channel is the only thing that has gotten me to consider going into 40k, bought my first box of marines last week ❤️?
Hope you enjoy it mate, @dignity has been tempting me with a centurians list (it’s a very dirty list lol) to play in the members suite here
But I’m trying to resist and stick to something more fluffy lol
That Tenfold Dungeon looks really great. May have to check out the KS when the time comes.
Very entertaining video! I’m very new to tabletop and just got the First Strike starter pack earlier this week. I’m very excited to get into this and your videos are very informative and fun.
Welcome to the community! Anything we can do to help you need only ask 🙂
Thank you for the welcome! I’d like to know all the requirements to be entered into the giveaway exactly, because anyone would hate to miss a chance at such a good looking set. Cheers!
be subscribed to the youtube channel, like and share the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTiQHb9IRZg you’ll find it there matey. Goodluck
Weird Bob should donate that blanket to NASA. China got a couple seeds to germinate on the moon? Pft. That’s nothing. When NASA rolls out that blanket for a little picnic on the moon…that place’ll be teaming with all manner of strange growths and skittering organisms in less than a year. I mean, sure, it’ll be a total nightmare factory and we’ll never be able to go back but, treaty or no, we’ll have staked claim to the moon in our own special way.
I think I’m gonna die laughing at this lol 😀
is that the archangel Gabriel as your avatar matey? That is fantastic. Love that film, and Chris is the *only* good thing about the sequels
I envy the winner of a blanket 😀 😛
I’m sat in the evening with doggo watching this, beer in hand. #doingitright
Urban Conquest would be so great for my little gaming group now that our local gaming store is closing.
I’m pretty sure aliens excavated the inside of the moon and are now living in there observing us all here on Earth.
I fixed the upcoming Night Lords Praetor. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs6p_KSjMh6/
I think the Blood Angels terminators’ legs are way too and look out of proportions to me.
Congrats weird Bob, rumour has it that if you use a fluorescent uv light on the yellow blanket is looks more like a Jackson pollock art piece, enjoy? sign me up for some 40k goodies, I would love to see room 17 do a sandstone dungeon/tomb, for Egyptian or Greek stuff. Great show everyone was on form
Another great show guys, some very interesting stuff
shine on Justin’s moon ?
the universal Hero stance ?
&exph=350&expw=350&q=Captain+Morgan+Spiced+Rum+Logo&simid=607995165278339712&selectedIndex=3&ajaxhist=0
The Weekenders in 2019 just keep getting better and better – I think it must be the presence of @lloyd – he seems to inspire @warzan – the digression about the Dark Side of the Moon was so awesome!
And the coordinated international “don’t Panic! / waving your hands frantically over your head” was beyond surreal.
Also the variety of content was excellent – apart from Historical, we had pretty much everything: Gothic sci-fi, weird World war, Post-apocalypse, Fantasy, miniatures, rpg, board and card games…
I found the interview with Anka and Ricard from Room17 Games fascinating – Great to hear both the Creative and Production aspects of the Design development process.
The simplicity of the concept and the beautiful artwork makes this very appealing – though though huge plastic door connectors do kind of spoil it for me. I wonder also how this Box-System could be somehow combined with the Battle Systems cardboard scenery.
The 40k Urban Conflict Box Set looks very tempting too.
🙂
the box rooms would work in 40K as monistry’s or marine/guard strongholds(Caith tunnels).
half exspecting @warzan saying Moonlight ? Lol
a great show guys.
I must get gaslands mat, Just don’t pipe it, use the blanket. (or a box)
Happy weekend guys!
Thanks for a bloody good show guys, lots of LOL moments in there, after a rough week at work, i needed this!
Although i’m still waiting for it (took a long time to see my name on the prize claim…), i’m happy to see the Gaslands mat, it looks great and it will be useful for many games!
TenFold Dungeon: i’m in! The town set looks ace. The castle looks ace too but, less usefull for me. Hope they have a Dungeon theme there too (faster set up for underground games of Frostgrave imho!).
See you guys on XLBS.
NO NO NO someone else got the blanket! Hold it that’s a GOOD thing, poor guy hope they wash it again and again and again.
Great show.. but I miss Ben lol. I love the idea of Tenfold dungeon, looking forward to the Kickstarter.
Congratulations to Weird Bob.
Urban conquest, yumie… 🙂
Happy weekend all! Finally catching up on Weekender a day late! BUT means I have a double dose of OTT today!
Wouldn’t mind that Urban Assault box for sure 😀
Insufficient swastika in the trailer, if you’re gonna do nazis, do nazis.
In Germany, I understand it is illegal to use Nazi icongraphy for anything other than historical or academic discussion and analysis.
As weird world war 2 cannot be considered factually historical and the concept of Reichbusters is sensational and totally over-the-top – and then if they did use swastikas – Mythic almost certainly would not be able to sell the game in Germany. Or have to defend some costly lawsuits.
As the German game market is so financially important, I guess Mythic Games probably decided it wasn’t worth it and went with the alternative graphics instead.
It would be interesting to ask if @az and the Mythic team at Essen Spiel in October received any questions or feedback about this.
I know, I just don’t really care. Too old, too crypto-fascist, to quote a young Dave Lister.
Dark Rituals looks good. Any chance of a play through?
The Cardboard dungeon looks excellent, i was looking for sewers for my ww2 games and they would be excellent.
Does Justin have any more blankets? Any chance for more prizes like that? #needtogetmesomeofthat
we might be able to prize away one of his socks, would that work?
UKGE or Salute….. Eeek!!
lovely show, what a great game reichbuster, i`m a fan of Dust and i think this game can blend with it in some twisted merger..
@wazarov think the minis are the same size as the Dust range.
Urban Conquest looks pretty cool, I love playing urban combat for my Death Korps of Krieg!
Thanks guys it’s like letting the children out without a parent ?
we find that it’s fun to play in the road 🙂
lol
Urban
Great show this week. Ten Fold dungeon looks like a great product.
Thanks for the show. Happy weekend to all.
I love that Gaslands mat! Great episode, guys.
Have to say I genuinely hurt myself laughing with the “international sign of distress” bit!
Can you guys set up a karaoke machine for a rendition of “Ben” by Michael Jackson in time for next week?
These Harry Potter minis are seriously tempting… if only for the painting opportunities. Show us more please!
And loving the return of Warren Meets Mat. Been too long
There are quite a few examples nowadays for reskinned systems, Zombicide with three skins being the best example, but Warhammer Quest with 3 (2 fantasy 1, 40k) and Command and Colors by Richard Borg with now 9 (?) different games in all kind of historic and fantasy settings, and soon a sci-fi setting.
Subscribed. Dong dinged. Suitably amazed by another cracking weekender. Great work guys! (I too agree that lots of combat feels like prolonged dice-rolling, ReichBusters looks like it has some interesting mechanics)
I’m hovering around the edge of Reichbusters… Also not particularly bothered by the theme, but a sucker for interesting mechanics. Would be interested in a fantasy reskin!
I gotta say that dungeon system looks amazing.
Looks great!!
Gas lands map is excellent, hope 4ground do some themed 6mm terrain too for wars of the roses style games.
Looking to get into 40k again, I like the newer small scale systems that they are doing, never a fan of mass 40k.
Loving the tenfold dungeon, that’s One smart kit!
Loving the Reichbusters trailer, cant wait to get my hands on it. The tenfold dungeon has definitely caught my eye, looking forward to the see what other stuff they have.
Reichbusters does look amazing, another possible reskin would be a straight Cthulu mythos, with investigators cultists and the elder goods ala love craft. While I think the knight’s models Harry Potter minis are exceptional I wonder if that universe lends itself to a miniature game at all. Perhaps an asymmetrical card game like Netrunner, where the asymmetry comes from the moral approach to magic. I dunno maybe too many bourbons…
Just curious as to when the winner of the giveaway will be announced?
Tenfold Dungeon looks brilliant, especially for the space-deprived!
Room 17’s Tenfold dungeon is such an awesome but simple idea. I was wondering why no-one had thought of it before. Then I listened to the design interview and realised the practical difficulties. Two potential backers in my house eagerly awaiting the Kickstarter launch.
Another great game to come from Mythic, here comes another Kickstarter pledge lol.
Love the weekender, don’t get to watch it every week anymore sadly.
Another great show with good content! The Tenfold Dungeon stuff is a great idea. I would definitely make them stackable and have stair pieces to make an actual tower dungeon.
That Reichbusters video!! uff
I really like the concept of Tenfold Dungeon
Great show guys! That dungeon-inna-box is a brilliant idea. It makes me wish I actually had some use for it.
Reich Busters look awesome, I wish I could bust some Reichs!
Tenfold Dungeons is a nice design
I’m really looking forward to Urban Conquest. I liked Cityfight, I wonder how will this game feel.
Room 17 need to put that blood circle on a laminate inlay so you can play the room with or without it. Can you imaging returning to that toom later in the day and finding someone has been there and done some kind of dark ritual? They could do more with that idea too, I’m sure.
That Kickstarter gives me an idea for a game. 3 player asymmetrical. One player plays as a demon summoner. One player plays as the heroes trying to stop him. The third plays as the demons forced against their will to do the summoners bidding but trying to twist his orders, find loopholes in his commands, and break free to kill him and devour the world. The summoner starts out with all the power, but the more he summons and the more orders he gives the more risky his control becomes. The Demons could try to allow the heroes to succeed early on to apply stress on the summoner, but if the demons break free the summoner might try to work with the heroes, but in the end only one side can win.
A belated happy weekend to everyone! Another great show, I think we can safely say Ben’s job remains very safe. I’ve missed Warren meets mat, so fantastic to see that segment again, especially with that classic yellow mat 🙂
