We've got Carlos and Killian facing off against each other as they introduce you to the Red Veil armies. Carlos from Corvus Belli will be playing as his favoured Yu Jing army with the deadly Ninjas and Zhanshi...
...while Killian will be throwing down as the opposition, taking command of Haqqislam.

Playing with ArmyV I came up with about 180pts each. Interesting to see what options (forward observer, Lieutenant etc) are made by Carlos and Killian as these are unfamiliar factions for me.
An infiltration mission turned into a gunfight and ended with a knife fight.. epic

Killian you’re such a Beast with those critical hits … and you killed my two favorite Miniatures from this Set and they couldn’t do anything at all (Ninja) or just dropped down and nothing else (Tiger Soldier)
And congratulations Carlos, that was a sneaky move in the last turn, blocking the way. I never would’ve come up with that move .. so something learned for future plays ^^

Too many AROing models on turn 1 are a bad thing. Too many lost orders cripple your list. The Tuared perhaps should have AROed the first order declared by the Hsien hoping that his split burst wouldn’t be enough to beat a 14 DA shot…

Cool batrep! The rules must have been very basic because according to the normal movement rules any miniature can move across obstacles freely as long as they are shorter than the silhouette.

Killian definitely had a few lucky dice rolls – taking out that bow-armed ninja with two criticals – not often that anyone gets dice rolls like that. Reminds me of the time when my own HMG armed Highlander Grey persisted in making constant armour saves against enemy fire, thereby preventing them from being able to advance. Even my opponent, despite the obvious frustration, was impressed by those dice rolls.

I really hoped for a Haqq win. In all new rules videos that faction presents itself as real underdog.
I can’t believe the luck on those dice for both sides, some lucky rolls and some extremely unlucky rolls, but overall lots of death which is what all games come down to. Brilliant report.
Killian, you totally had it for a sec -good deployment and some great dice rolls- but you need to stop moving models out of cover and leaving then there. It made you LT an easy kill when he could have stayed in cover at the corner if the building and only been about 2″ further from the objective.
Lastly your camo sniper was not wise to jump out for a one die vs 4. If you had waited you could have 2 vs 1 shot and got surprise attack.
well it was enjoyable to watch and thanks for doing it. keep it up. always goo to see you on the show.
Hisen has MSV 2 so my chances of keeping the sniper alive were slim from the get go. I took the chance that I could score a hit with the DA ammunition and take out the Hisien early but that roll didn’t go my way.
I’d normally keep units in cover but in this case with the limited order pool I had I needed to make each one count and advance as fast as possible since getting and holding the central objective is the most important goal in this mission
You could have used the order you could have saved by not popping him out to have a dice advantage rather than a disadvantage. I can see what your getting at but 1 die vs 4 when they will be hitting on a slimier target number is never the smart bet. would have been cool to pull off, but not likely.
Also because he needed things there at the end of the game not the end of each round, letting him get some things close to you and into your optimal range bands would have been good for you. And you would have still had time to kill it before the end of the game.
Your low chance shot at the start with the Zanshi was good because he had to split burst but after that I would have let the Hesin advance into his bad range and into your good.
Its a complex game, and it must be hard to play 100% when you have to film and talk through everything. you do a good job of saying what you are doing and keeping people engaged. the tactic talk is not intended as a dig, just some post game analysis.
Even against overwhelming luck, winning like a boss, excellent performance Carlos!

If Killian managed to hit him with his CC he would win since you can choose where to stand at the enemy’s base in a CC situation. As far as I recall.

Couldn’t Killian’s Al Fahsid just jump over the wall (can freely move over terrain that is lower than the S value of the trooper) on the roof because he is S5?
Yeah that only occurred to me afterwards, I think there was enough space to do it since the Al Fashid has a 40mm base which has to fit on the area its moving. Carlos would still have made an Engage ARO so the Close Combat would still have happened
Cheering for Yujing
There are basically 2 voices in my head. One is trying to be logical in saying “you can get this at some point, that’s fine, but you don’t need it right now” while the other basically says “no, don’t listen to that, get this as soon as you can; asap; pre-order now”.
How unlikely was this battle? Crits after crits after crits… Several times multiples in one roll. Finally three 20ies.
Btw, last two orders:
Don’t fall for the baits, buddy. Everything is there, take a step back and see it.
They are unscrupulous Yu Jing. And it’s Carlos. You know the fight will not only be on the table but also off it with words. Your guys are the seekers of knowledge. Know the mission objectives. And not losing is winning.
So, move that walking HMG-platform back into a favourable range band and show that daring puppet soldier how *invincible* he actually is recieving two rows of high BS-HMG salvoes to the face…

Think the close combat at the end was a mistake, 4 dice for the HMG vs 1 (albeit good shot) from the combi. 4x chance to crit and draw.
Still nice to see a durable HI be MVP rather than an ODD/TO/Sniper!

Who makes those silhouette/camo markers?
Also wondering why Carlos didn’t move his Zhanshi into total cover when the Al Fassed shot at it. Did he forget or was it purposeful? I couldn’t tell based on what he was saying. He would have been better off in total cover I think.
I’m also wondering why Carlos kept leaving the Hsien out in the open with all the “do nothing” skills he used. Seems like getting the Hsien to cover faster would have been better.
The cammo markers are ones I made myself when I had access to a laser cutter and double as silhouette markers. They are very similar to the ones that can be won in Infinity ITS tournament packs.
I’m wondering if Carlos was trying to keep the range over 16″.
Sure, he’s not getting cover bonuses, but gives him +3 to hit and keeps Rifles at -3, under 16″ he’d drop to 0 and the Rifle would be at +3.
My reactions to that video seemed to alternate between cheering and swearing when the crits were rolled…

Of course the miniatures also give the game a lot of impact and that Ninja is truly amazing, so sorry to see the figure eliminated before we could how it could have performed.

Who to root for? Haq & Yu Jing are my two main factions, and both players are top blokes. Tough call… Let’s go with Yu Jing. Now to watch and see them taken apart! 😉

I think the actual play was goading Killian into believing he had only one path to go. All that mouth work of “intelligence coming into play” etc. only served to obscure the dangerous move: retreat to +0/+3 range and put wagonloads of metal onto that bloke. Twice.
Do you know who the real winners are? That’s right, it’s us. Ha!

My two factions, I don’t know which to choose from! The models are so beautiful, the fluff is so…fluffy…I can’t pick a side!
As that battle wore on I was wincing at all the critical hits rolling to fell the soldiers of the StateEmpire… but in the end, proof that in Infinity one can never give up no matter what the dice seem to be trying to command.

I’m really loving the look of Haqqislam.
This new box scenery look so much fun to play with (quite an improvement compared to the Op.Icestorm). It was so unlucky the loss of the ninja in first 1, we all would liked to see how tactical bow works.

That must have been one of the killiest games of infinity I have ever seen. Absolutely loved it! I do think that the pitched battle takes away a bit of the suspense, because you know what to expect, but the sheer massacre more than made up for that.

Love these “Infinity” videos with Carlos and Killian, besides being really enjoyable there very informative on how to play the game.
Great to see Carlos go for it from the off, and then catch Killian out with the end of game (under hand some might say) maneuver, but it just goes to show how the game can turn out. Pity the Ninja got taken out so soon, it would of been great to see how good it works.
Any chance of say Carlos and Killian coming up with a mini game, in where the Ninja has to get from A to B, but has to get past some Haqqislam forces with out being caught and killed. In this way we get to see how the Ninja truly operates, just a thought……………….

Hmm, really can’t decide which faction I like more – I like the aesthetic of the Yu jing but the poses on the Haqqislam really appeal to the modeller in me 🙂

Without seeing the angles on the table I’m sure Killian had more options on his last order than just BS and CC. Seems like he could have moved over the low parapet avoiding Carlos’s block, or if that was not legal made a entire order “Jump” to the roof to contest the objective?

Batrep’s are always nice. An easy way to learn the game. Cool to see this game working with low terrain. I always think Infinity needs huge buildings.
