New Operatives Join Strategies Games Lab’s Close Quarter Battle
May 1, 2024 by brennon
Strategies Games Lab have added to their range of miniatures for their Modern Warfare-era 30mm wargame, Close Quarter Battle. You can now pick up some great Operative miniatures and more for use in your cinematic firefights on the tabletop.
Operative Echo // Strategies Games Lab
Leading the way are two Operatives. Each of them comes in different poses so when you're playing your games you can switch them up depending on the action going on on the tabletop. Start out with Operative Echo scouting his foes and then change up the miniature when he charges into combat.
The same goes for Operative Foxtrot who comes in a variety of different poses that include sneaking, taking aim and looking super awesome in an action movie pose.

It makes sense to have some miniatures that are going to be your main characters in different poses, especially for a game like Close Quarter Battle where the focus is on a cinematic experience. It's certainly nice for those approaching the game in a solo fashion who can take the extra time to be more extravagant when playing their games.
Allies Or Enemies?
As well as the two Operatives, you can also get your hands on some great miniatures to represent the other forces battling it out on the tabletop. Maybe these Police Officers are eager to help you out and battling those crime lords and cartel members.

I could see these fellows hunkered down behind a police car blockading the street and trying to keep the enemy at bay. Your Operatives then rush in and save the day. I think that fellow on the left with his baton at the ready might be able to crack some cartel skulls though.
On the slightly more heavily armed and better-trained side of things, you can also get a set of Military personnel with rifles at the ready. Could these folks be supporting their drug baron paymaster or are they going to be the key to you overthrowing your foe?

The same goes for these Rebels. Are they on your side? These locals who have taken up arms against their leaders could be trying to topple them to save their people.

All of the miniatures that you see here are in 30mm scale so they should work with a lot of miniatures around 28mm and 32mm if you have them in your collection. They are also made in resin and I must admit, came out of nowhere for me. I think they look brilliant!
Last but not least, we can't miss out on the Guard Dogs. Could these bestest boys be your allies who are rushing in to help you bring down a criminal or are they wandering around the perimeter looking to sniff you out and make your day go badly?

All of these miniatures look great and join an expanded range of miniatures for use in their game, Close Quarter Battle. Make sure to go and check out their collection and perhaps consider trying out their game.
Close Quarter Battle Rules
If you are intrigued by the range and the miniatures, make sure to grab yourself the rules.
Close Quarter Battle // Strategies Games Lab
As mentioned earlier, Close Quarter Battle is designed to be a fast-paced and cinematic tabletop wargame set in the modern era. You take on the role of Operatives who have been sent in to deal with drug cartels and their allies as part of deniable operations.
The rules, which were on Kickstarter last year, are quick and easy to learn and the games play out throughout two campaigns of fifteen missions each. Close Quarter Battle also features solo play rules so if you're looking to dive in and try it out, make sure to snap it up.
