Games Workshop, in the wake of the 10th Edition launch for Warhammer 40,000, are also telling new stories in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. The Dawnbringers storyline begins with pre-orders next week focused on a new book and some new Regiments Of Renown.

This is the first chapter in a brand new saga that wells the tale of the Twin-Tailed Crusade which has marched out of Hammerhal. A band of champions are seeking to extend the reach of Sigmar's gaze across The Mortal Realms whilst villainous foes are also seeking to disrupt those plans.

The first of the books, Harbingers, talks of the beginning of that Crusade and the four heralds that have been selected from amongst the Grand Alliances. There is a brand new Path To Glory Battlepack included which focuses on telling those narrative beats with your armies plus additional rules for using the different Regiments Of Renown.

Regiments Of Renown

As we've seen during earlier previews, there are four new Regiments Of Renown, one for each of the Grand Alliances that you'll know from the lore.

There is a brand new 28mm plastic miniature leading the way for each of the warbands and each of them can be used as a band of mercenaries for your armies. So, Fjori's Flamebearers can be used alongside your Order armies for example.

If you're looking for a deadly nemesis to go up against the Fyreslayers, you could also run around and cause chaos with Braggit's Bottle-snatchaz.

On the dark and twisted side of things, the Flesh-eater Courts have sent forth an emissary to undertake a terrible quest. Believing themselves to be noble and chivalrous, Jerrions Delegation are going to do more harm than good as they find themselves intertwined with the Twin-Tailed Crusade.

Last but not least, we have the servant of Chaos and Nurgle. Serving the Plague God and making sure that Sigmar's crusade ends in death and ruin, Phlugoth's Shudderhood are on the warpath.

Each of these Regiments Of Renown could be used to put together a fun, themed army for the current narrative of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. I like the idea of using this as an opportunity for you to start a new army and focus it around one or more characters represented here. Maybe you can change their fates, for good or ill, or indeed use them alongside an existing army to help weave your force into the storyline.

A New General's Handbook

As well as the new miniatures and the new Dawnbringers book, there is also the new General's Handbook.

This will provide you with all of the Matched Play information you need to carry you through the rest of 2023 and deep into 2024. This could possibly be the last big update to the game before we move to the next edition of the game. Magic is the name of the day here and there are plenty of fun ways for you to make the most of your standard spellcasters.

Could you be tempted to start a new army to follow the storyline in Dawnbringers?
