The Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game is going to be bolstered by the addition of the mighty Beornings this weekend. Forge World will be building on the Defence Of The North book that was released recently with some new 28mm resin miniatures.

Leading the way is Grimbeorn himself who comes in a set that features him in both his bear and man form. Living between Mirkwood and the Misty Mountains, Grimbeorn is a deft woodsman and adept in combat regardless of which form he fights in. I much prefer this bear form compared to the version for Beorn that came out a few years ago. I think it looks a lot heftier and natural.

Alongside Grimbeorn, we also have a set of three Beornings (also in resin) that you'll be able to order from Forge World.

You get a good mix of characters in this set armed with different weapons. I really like the Beornings as a mini-faction of sorts within the world of Middle-earth and it's good that we're now seeing miniatures for them to us in your games.

Whilst we've not seen a massive set of releases for Middle-earth over the last few years, we have been getting some really nice bonus figures that help add to the narrative and competitive elements of this fun skirmish game. Forge World has been helming the release of quite a few of these miniatures and they, more often than not, are pretty darn awesome.

It's good to see that Middle-earth hasn't been forgotten and it's well worth looking at if you want to play a different style of Fantasy wargame on the tabletop.

What do you make of the new Beornings and Grimbeorn himself?
