Fantasy Flight Games announced this weekend that they were bringing Android: Netrunner to an end. The Living Card Game has been possibly one of the best of its kind, and with the new version of the Core Box coming out a few months ago I thought there would be a new lease of life for the game. Alas, it was not to be.

Android Netrunner - Fantasy Flight Games

They will continue to work on the game through until October this year. Until that point, you'll still be able to get stuck into all of the gaming goodness, and of course, the final Deluxe Expansion called Reign & Reverie which will gift ALL factions new cards.

As well as that you'll be able to take part in the Magnum Opus event that Fantasy Flight Games also detailed, giving you a final chance to enter the competitive world of Netrunner on the tabletop.

Android: Netrunner really was/is a stellar card game. It has had its problems over the years and went through a period of losing its soul a bit (damn solitaire decks...) but the revamp of the Core Box really did bring back the nerve-shredding, poker-esque nature of the game.

FFG will be continuing to produce other content set within the Android world, but the tense asymmetrical card game will be no more...at least from within their servers.

What do you think of the news?
