CMON Games this week announced that they are going to be offering you a chance to dive into the immensely beautiful and brutal world of God Of War with a new card game adaptation.

God Of War The Card Game - CMON

In this game, you don't directly play as Kratos and Atreus directly but instead, take on the role of the Norns who are turning their attention to the well of fate known as Urðr. They are looking for a way to stop Ragnarok, bringing figures like Kratos, Atreus, Mimir, Brok, Sindri and Freya into the mix to see if they can change the fate of the world.

One to four players will be playing to defeat mighty enemies and massive bosses from the latest God Of War video game, developing interesting what-if scenarios. If you win then you've found a way to halt the devastation of Ragnarok but failure simply means that the Norns will have another go, testing out a new band of heroes to see if they can divert disaster. I quite like the theme here, building on the way cards have often been used in testing fate.

Quests in the game have been designed to be interesting puzzles which you'll learn to solve, developing new tactics as you go. You might find yourself leaving certain avenues of adventure to the side however and whilst this might help you achieve your ultimate goal you could end up missing a piece of the puzzle that could doom you later on. This means there's a great sense of exploration mixed into this game alongside the card-based combat.

Each hero will also feature unique abilities and such which can be used in game and will be represented by standees. Maybe they'll do a separate upgrade pack which will allow you to replace the standees with plastic miniatures if you so desired?

God Of War: The Card Game is slated for a release in Q3 this year.
