Victrix Miniatures have added another 28mm plastic kit to their lineup for those wanting to play some Dark Age wargames. This time, the Normans are taking aim with their deadly crossbows, looking to pluck Saxons from their feet and send them down into the mud.

Norman Crossbowmen - Victrix Miniatures

Norman Crossbowmen // Victrix Miniatures

The set comes with thirty-six Norman Crossbowmen which complete the triumvirate of options that you need for any good army project. You've now got all of your core infantry miniatures, your cavalry and some ranged troops to make sure that you can do the "rock, paper, scissors" element of wargaming properly.

Norman Crossbowman Example #1 - Victrix Miniatures

Norman Crossbowman - Painted Example // Victrix Miniatures

The set comes with a variety of head and arm options allowing you to pose your miniatures in a bunch of different ways. This means that you can make them dynamic and inject some additional action into your armies. I do like the idea of making some Crossbowmen reloading, taking aim and at rest. This set can also be mixed with some of the existing sets from Victrix for even more options.

The set also comes with heads and helmets in a more Arabised style so that you can use them as Andalusians and Crusaders if you like. As a set, this would work for those battling in Normandy and England during 1066 but also in Spain, Italy, Central Europe and the Middle East.

Norman Crossbowmen Sprue - Victrix Miniatures

The Normans are great for those wanting to play out the Dark Age but also explore the Early Medieval period. You can do a lot of mixing and matching in order to get the kind of army that you want for Historical wargames.

What do you make of this new plastic set from the folks at Victrix?
