The game has between two and four players joining together to play out the events of The Lord Of The Rings. One player/team will control the forces of good as they strive to make their way to Mount Doom and throw The One Ring into the fires. The other team will control the forces of shadow as they look to frustrate their progress.

What's quite interesting about the game is that they have designed this so that it focuses on delivering as much of the War Of The Ring experience but over a shorter gameplay timescale. Also, that obviously means fewer miniatures to move around and table space reserved for other important things.

Additionally, the game will come with a couple of different experiences out of the box. You will be able to play out the full The Lord Of The Rings story or you can play The Fellowship Of The Ring. This offers up a shorter play experience and might be a good way to dive in and get your head around the rules.

They have also mentioned creating scenarios and sessions based around The Two Towers and The Return Of The King but those won't be available at the time of release. Additionally, there is also a solo mode in development which would be fascinating to see.

Pre-orders are currently available for the EU and the USA. If you do dive in and pick up the pre-order then you will also get a set of four exclusive promotional cards. This includes Ioreth (Dunédain), Ghân-buri-Ghân (Rohan), Gothmog (Mordor) and Whip Of Many Thongs (Monstrous).

Are you going to be snapping up this game and adding it to your Middle-earth collection?
