About the Project

I have properly got the Star Wars bug and so I thought I'd pick up the Obi-Wan Kenobi model from Star Wars: Legion and paint it up!

I thought I’d get started on some of the Star Wars: Imperial Assault miniatures with the Spanish set of C3-PO and R2-D2…

I think they turned out quite well AND I went with a grey base here because they are going to be used in the board game.

I have also finished off Jyn Erso, one of the coolest heroes in Star Wars maybe?

Again, an absolutely awesome miniature to paint up and I can’t wait to snap up more from the Star Wars: Legion range.

As I was saying last week, I think this works really nicely for both the sands of Scariff and also Endor too at a glance.

I thought I’d now show off the finished miniatures from the Rebel Trooper Upgrade Expansion for Star Wars: Legion.

I had a lot of fun painting these miniatures and it was cool to do not just the traditional scheme for the Rebels (lots of camo) but also work on alien skintones as well.

Now I just need to drum my fingers and wait until more Star Wars: Legion pops up!

Working On Forest Basing

So, I thought it would also be a good idea to show off the components that make up my basing materials for my Star Wars miniatures. I originally worked up just a bit of traditional grass which is layered over an ashy texture which I’ve had for donkey’s years.

Working On Forest Basing

The ashy material is what I use to show ground which is more of a tundra landscape. It also sort of works as ‘sand’ which means that when I come to painting up the miniatures which are more Scariff focused the miniatures will still match up.

I don’t like how miniatures look when they’re just mud and grass so it’s sort of my get-out clause for making woodland/forest bases without having to use it. Also, it must snow on Endor sometime right?

Next up, I also throw on some tufts and I have this wildland collection which is great for adding a bit more height to the bases.

Working On Forest Basing

The newest addition to these bases is something which is trying to make things look a bit more woodlandy (certainly a word). This is some forest clump basing materials which I think looks like undergrowth and fallen leaves from the trees above.

I have been using this to make it look a lot like little bushes and ways to show that this is a lush, green planet which they are rushing across.

You can see this on the miniatures for Luke Skywalker and one of the Wookiees that I have finished recently.

It takes a little bit of effort to get down onto the base without it flying everywhere but it’s a versatile bit of kit for just making things pop that little more.

I have been playing around with some new miniatures that I picked up from my local gaming store. I couldn’t get my hands on some of the core stuff so I picked up these Rebel Troopers to get a handle on painting their camo and alien skin.

This is the Rebels after their base coats and also a wash over the top with blue and green for their skin plus Agrax Earthshade and Nuln Oil for the rest of their outfits.

These need a little bit of work here and there with highlights to make them pop but otherwise, it was fun to work on some rebels!

It was painted and finished on my Twitch Livestream every Tuesday and Sunday at because_dragons. Give me a Follow if you fancy hanging out and watching some more of my work over the coming weeks.

I have been working away on these Wookiee Warriors and they are nearly finished. I need to do a bit more detailing work here and there but otherwise I think they are looking more or less ok!

This was a nice change of pace from painting characters and has got me in the mood to paint up some soldiers and such for the Rebels. I really would like there to be more miniatures available soon…

I got around to finishing off Han Solo despite the lack of black paint. I do not recommend spraying a bunch of black spray into a lid and trying that – but it kinda worked!

I was going to do the camo on the coat but I couldn’t be bothered to try and get it looking like the design in the movie. I think it still works as it is. Now I just need a gorram Wookiee…

I finished off Leia recently as well and I think she looks pretty good. I fucked up the face a little bit and tried to fix it, but it’s not as defined as I would have liked it to be. The pains of trying to do highlighting when you’re a bit tired…

The one thing that I don’t particularly like about these miniatures is the fact that the eyes look a bit like pits into hell – but, they do have a fair bit of definition to them which I like.
