Community Spotlight: Calth Armies, Tattoo’d Orcs & Moving Turbine Engines!

July 28, 2017 by lancorz

Another week has passed and we've been fishing around the Hobby & Painting forums for some awesome paints, sculpts and general awesomeness from the community.

We've hand picked some great pieces for your eyes to feast on this week, make sure to click through to their forum topics and give them some much needed praise for their hard efforts too!

Betrayal At Calth by Aurorainbag

First up, we have some amazing painting skills shown here by Aurorainbag, she's been powering through the new 8th Edition boxset and with some amazing results too

"The goal with this project was to just get it done. Not worry too much about the details, just simply have some painted minies so I could start playing."

Not worry too much about details she says... pah! Have you seen the awesome detail shown on the bases and the blending of dirt across the capes, it's amazing! Plus the colour scheme on the Death Guard, if you know me (Lance) I'm not to grips with the 40k universe but this colour scheme, boy howdy it's gorgeous!

Awesome work Aurorainbag, also, Happy Birthday 😉

Ouroboros Orcs by Gorillawithabrush

You know what they say when a picture is worth a thousand words... I can't find the words to describe how this paint job looks, the tone, the shading, the detail, even with some unfortunately failed efforts with an airbrush he's achieved some amazing results with just the brush.

The choices of colours making the Orc really stand out makes you feel that he's just come out of a mossy swampland. Don't even get me started on the tattoos, just look for yourself...

I think we've all learned something here, give a Gorilla a brush and he can make you a masterpiece. I'd hate to see what he's capable of if we gave him a blank Sistine Chapel.

Turbine Engine by Caladors

Who said your terrain doesn't have to move? Caladors has been impressing everyone over on the Weekly Hobby Topic and the Hobby forums with his Turbine Engine terrain made for his Genestealers games.

As impressive as the terrain looks aesthetically, he's really gone into a lot of detail making it look rusted, aged and obviously dangerous. However that's not the most impressive part of it...

IT MOVES! Check out the video here

Amazing work by Caladors, we can't wait to see how the full table looks once you're finished!
