It's time for us to welcome Warren back into the fold for The Weekender this week as we get stuck into plenty of awesomeness from a week in gaming.

Warren Meets Mat + Bandua Ruins
The first thing we're doing is checking out the Aldan Indomitus Ruins from Bandua Wargames and showing them off on the tabletop. We've got them down on a GameMat.Eu mat, Mayhem Square, as well which certainly works alongside this terrain.
They'd make awesome terrain for you to drop into the mix for games of Warhammer 40,000+775423, especially with the release of the Adeptus Custodes now on the tabletop.

Well G.I.Joe was my toy of choice and I’m old enough to remember the first miniseries debuting after school. I probably missed half of them but I was hooked! I want Mantic or River Horse to do a G.I.Joe miniature game but so far no takers LOL

Great to see Warren back (and not just the soft porn that is the Warren meets Mat intro) the mat was great but that pre coloured terrain … wow, painting terrain isn’t my strong suit, this looks really interesting.
i do like the Rogal Dorn Mini.. Yellow and gold armour perhaps, James in charge of Hellboy makes me happy and the new WWX possies are great (I love this game it just keeps growing on me)
and Mythos .. I am trying hard not to take up yet another game but you gentlemen are dragging me in again (this is becoming commonplace … sigh)

Not sure about Hate due to cashflow? You can always drop $1on the KS and upgrade to a full pledge in the PM in a couple of months time! (Confirmed in the FAQ).
Of course, you’re not contributing much to the total, but we all know that with a KS like this all the SGs are going to be slipped out anyway… so why not?
I think the $1 pledge is a viable tactic for many folk (let’s face it it’s not easy these days to have the money always at hand!)
They’ll probably open a late pledge option too. See last week’s discussion on pre-order style KS.
Mythos looks great! Absolutely love Lovecraftian settings. The rules seem great too, lots of depth but simple and doesn’t get in the way of actually playing the game, and those cards look like a dream!
Definately check out the let’s plays for this game it’s a very fun system underlying this 🙂

So, here’s my take on the whole KS vs Retail thing based off of my experience where I live: We don’t really have gaming clubs like I perceive them to be in the UK. Most of the time you meet other players at your FLGS. And the FLGS doesn’t want to spend a lot of time supporting or sponsoring games that they feel like they won’t sell (because everybody who wants to play bought it on Kickstarter.) Also, most of the stores that sell miniatures in my area don’t have a lot of floor space, so they have to dedicate their shelves to what sells best (GW) which means that small press companies often never get seen.
So, my recommendation (for what it’s worth) is to use Kickstarter to get the game/factions started, but provide tools that enable players to meet (google maps is good for this) and do demos (2-player starters, even if they’re a bit “crippled”, scenery recommendations, etc). Then, make it easy for the retailers to special order your product from their distributors. For example, I’ve been trying to push Rumbleslam from TTCombat but my FLGS says that they can’t get it without opening an account with a UK distributor, which just doesn’t make sense to do.

The mat is nice, but the Bandua sets are gorgeous, especially the coloured glass in the tower. Also the heaviness, which means stability, appeals to me.
Mythos: Speed can be the enemy of quality. Do not hurriedly bring out stuff at all costs. Reducing the risk as entrepreneurs is a reasaonable thing, so I suggest the kick-starter.

As someone who went all in on the original Mythos KS, I can only say how blown away I was by the sheer quality of the miniatures, the authentically Lovecraftian yet at the same time highly original feel of the game, and the professionalism of Paranoid Miniatures in delivering on time and (in my case at least) with not a single item missing or damaged. These guys deserve all the support they can get and I for one would not hesitate to go all in again on a potential secone KS campaign. It’s a pity that the Brotherhood and Traveller factions did not get unlocked during the original campaign as they sound great, so hopefully they will see the light of day (or the darkness of night) in one way or another.
The other massive benefit to prepainted and precoloured terrain is for gaming clubs. Running a club myself the time you need to invest in finishing mdf and plastic terrain is often a big commitment. Affordable ways to cut the corners is so useful.

Perhaps it is just me, but the sound quality during the Warren Meets Mat segment was much better than the main round table. The sound was terrible and sounded mono vs stereo. Compared to other episodes, I found it hard to listen to what was being spoken about. It sounded far away or in a closet.

Personally I did not have an issue with the sound, but then again I listened on my tablet which is not exactly Dolby surround sound…lol
Windows 10 PC using a RealTek HD Sound card with Advent Stereo Speakers and subwoofer. Very old speakers but I can tell the difference. Never had an issue before today’s episode.
I tried on my Xbox One that is attached to Samsung TV. I could hear the difference. Since I am usually up early making breakfast for the family I start my morning watching you guys before everyone is up many times.
I tried on my Kindle Fire HD 8 and I can hear the different there to because it has a good DAC for sound.
Where I found no difference was on an older Asus Android tablet that does not exactly have the best sound quality.
I have 60mbs internet so I do not believe it was a streaming issue.
As I said, did not have this issue in prior episodes and I have be watching on here for over two years now.
No it’s nothing to do with bandwidth or your devices mate we are trying some different sound rigs out for the next little while 🙂

I know its not a big deal but. There are no “Chapters” in the Heresy, they were “Legions”. Chapters came about after the Heresy when all the Loyalist Legions got broken down into Chapters.

Yea i like the Molly concept art. This has been mentioned before by the BOW crew, but those tenticles aren’t immediately apparent. I think the knife in her hand is the right mix of innocence, threat and distraction. Bravo i say.

In regards to Mythos, this game is definitely on my radar for so many reasons. These low model count games are my favoured platform now as I can play lots of them. Also I don’t yet have a lovecraftian game in my repertoire, and it’s a setting that is too compelling to resist.

More factions and a few random other generic models that aren’t named or unique to add to or change up play style would be great. Also some cross faction models, like the way Warmachine has a bunch of mercenaries that can be used for ddifferent stuff, is something I would like.

Great watching the chat with the Mythos guys. I hope they go back to kickstarter. It’s not good for my wallet, but I find ‘pledging for everything’ is a great way to get into a game such as this, and means I don’t have the hassle of following miniatures get drop fed into retail.

I backed Mythos during the KS and the models are amazing. Absolutely hated the game, but the models are amazing.

This is bloody tough.
Love the Hellboy films and comics so can’t wait for more of that. I agree with Justin that it would have been nice to have seen maybe three or four movies in the current timeline before the reboot, but I guess that just never came to pass.
I did love eighties kids cartoons, Thundercats, Centurions, MASK (Masked crusaders, fighting crime, all the time) and Bravestar. I had Bravestar on audio tape, which I listened to about 10 times whilst on holiday in Cornwall.
I remember being at work once some years ago, in an office of game developers so we were all of a nerdy persuasion shall we say. Somehow we had gotten onto the topic of eighties cartoons and we were trying to remember the name of Centurions, but we could only remember the slogan. I said “man and machine” and my colleague finished “power extreme!”, which generated a fair number of groans and sighs from my less enamoured colleagues 🙂

Interesting show. I always like to see interesting games like Mythos presented. It just shows these are great times with a lot of quality games around.
I would absolutely support Paranoid Miniatures if they decided to take the next two factions for Mythos to Kickstarter, even more so if there was any way to fund one additional character for each of the existing factions.
