Add To Your Warmachine Cryx Army With New Terrors
September 10, 2024 by brennon
Steamforged Games has added some more options into the mix for those wanting to get started in Warmachine with the forces of Cryx and the Necrofactorium.
Skarlock Lieutenant // Warmachine
Leading the way, we have the Skarlock Lieutenant who is going to be a key leader option for your Cryx armies as they grow. This Warlock can power up your undead troops, of which you're going to have a lot when playing as Cryx. You can make them even more deadly when fighting the enemy and able to take more damage too. If you want to go down the route of lots of shambling undead, this fellow is going to be a fun addition to your army.
I really like the necromancer vibes for the Skarlock and the blending of the mechanical with his emaciated body. The big blade gives the impression that he isn't a slouch in combat either.
Sticking with the dark and twisted, we also have options in the form of the Necrosurgeon Initiates.
Necrosurgeon Initiates // Warmachine
The Necrosurgeon Initiates can empower your Warjacks with their arcane abilities but they can also use their skills in "surgery" to stitch together your fallen troops and bring them back into the battle "as good as new". Considering the legions of shambling undead you will be adding to your Cryx force, these miniatures seem like a solid fit.
Once again, the miniature design is on point and I like the gory details that you can have fun with on the miniatures. I also think those Necrosurgeons with black, soulless eyes need to have blood leaking from them for added spooks!
These miniatures come as part of the brand-new Cryx Necrofactorium Core Expansion which gives you the above miniatures and more to have some fun with.

This set comes with a leader in the form of Master Necrosurgeon Sepsira who takes on the role of your Warcaster. They are backed up by Grendel the character Warjack and then you have a Machine Wraith Dominator, Skarlock Lieutenant, two Mechanithrall Swarms and finally, a set of those Necrosurgeon Initiates. A solid set of miniatures to get you started in Warmachine.
All of these miniatures and more from Cryx can be pre-ordered right now!

Since the Steamforge takeover… what happened to the rules of Warmachine?
Is it still MK4? Is there a pdf?
I’m not sure but I believe it’s the same rules and available in the app. I’m sure someone more informed could tell you more – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.privateerpress.warmachine.client&hl=en_GB
SFG has taken over everything Warmachine-related and the game is still alive and kicking in its current MK4-iteration. All rules, both modelwise and of the game itself, can be found in the free Warmachine app. Only some extra listbuilding functionality (as in sharing between multiple platforms and having more lists to save) and most of the lore is behind the subscription wall.
The models are great for the fluff. My only criticism is the color of the paint job as it feels like Dark Eldar and Skaven were mashed. I know it’s a more poppy color scheme but the old black green was great for the menacing feel.
You’re right. The browns make them look more scruffy than sinister.
I’ve heard some negatieve things about the casting quality of the miniatures since they went the 3D printing route. Anyone have any experience with these miniatures?
The first batches, in light grey material, were indeed very prone to breaking. The current dark grey material is far better, and most models are now also single-part which makes assembly a whole lot quicker.
