NuCoal has lot going on as faction and this tank has its part in that.
Guns shouldn’t dictate choice as much as they should tactics. More powerful but less accurate weapons typically mean you want to be stationary and gaining some measure of concealment when firing. The more accurate the weapon, the more feasible it is to shoot while moving as you’re less hampered by the negative modifiers incurred.
True skrob, however in Blitz! going Stationary incurs serious defense penalties. In Blitz! there’s a huge difference between Concealment (which makes you hard to see but you can still be shot) to Cover (which is Solid and you can’t be hit by direct-fire but you can be hit by Indirect Fire weapons).
If you want to camp your tanks, you’ll need to do so in Hull-Down positions and make certain you cover your flanks with other Gears.
Personally, the Linked LFGs on the standard Voltiguer will incur two Defense rolls with only one Action, of which the Volt has 3 Actions to spend. Combine that with the option to Indirect Fire or direct-fire Anti-Gear Missiles (Command Variant) or Air-Burst Missiles (standard), and also the ability to use its Sniper Laser Cannon with +1 accuracy and long range, and the standard Volt has some serious firepower. The Hammer variant, meanwhile, provides an increased Area Effect with x28 damage, which is great if you want to Forward Observe for Indirect Fire attacks at a distance.
