“abaddon black gives a different finish to chaos black spray” Well done GW, Army painter take the effort to colour match spray and dropper pot, your solution is to paint the model twice…
Seriously posting all these GW painting tutorials just seems lazy and a waste of front page space
No, no… some of them were decent for tabletop results. I find this one lacking, though…
I wish I could take back the word lazy above as it is too harsh, but I do still feel that there are plenty of much more interesting and informative videos that could be posted on the front page of BoW, but then again it is just my opinion.
I know… Believe me I know.
Disagree – I’ve liked the tutorials in general…. very funny that he started using a palet (sic) after the BOW rant -and this is the point -posting them here allows for comments from the community – something GW blocks. I think Duncan’s been good in general – but here is the only place we can say it.

The reason we post these is because for some reason Games Workshop makes them pretty hard to find on their own website and they provide some good basic tips and hints for people on various techniques – they’re never the best out there or show anything ‘outstanding’ but they are helpful (I think) for people like me who just want to make things look a bit better for tabletop standard. Games Workshop also don’t allow comments on their videos on Youtube whereas here you can say what you want about them and there can be a dialogue about the various… Read more »
GW pretty much want to deny the internet exists except as a revenue stream, and even then they’d prefer if it was only their website selling GW stuff…

I agree solar, but I feel that a lot of people subscribe to BoW that are not looking to be master painters. They just want o be able to learn how to paint in a way that is not embarrassing to bring to the table. Romain is an artist, and I have adopted his way of thinking when it comes to miniature painting, but alas that style takes serious dedication to learn…hell ive been studying the “higher” standard of painting for over a year and I still have far to go. most gamers just don’t want to go down that… Read more »
I am grateful for your viewership, mycerin… but I warn you now : you will never be “done”. You will always have “a long way to go”. I have a long way to go myself, and we all do. While I agree I paint better than most, and have crossed the river where it can be said I paint “well”, I still am never satisfied with what I do (nor should I be). It’s the blessing and the curse of wanting to do art instead of finishing your minis for the game : the journey is never over ! 🙂… Read more »
While I do not paint any where are good, layered and clean as yourself, I am very happy with my models when I finish them.
These GW videos are good for improving practical knowledge for the general gamer. This one in particular even persuaded me to get some new shades/washes/inks as I had always stuck with one 20 year old version previously.
In general they are good and have a place, your never going to get a paint guide in one video that is ideal for all. This is fair rudimentary, and result is basic. Does highlight one important tip though – don’t use GW sprays 🙂
