Devir Games are planning to bring back a revised and refreshed take on the Claustrophobia game with Claustrophobia 1692, which will launch on Gamefound next week on 14th April. Check out some of the details about the game below...

Claustrophobia 1692 - Devir

Claustrophobia 1692 // Devir

Claustrophobia is a tactical board game which comes from designer CROC (In Nomine, Hell Dorado) and was originally launched in 2009. It had a revival in 2019, with Devir hoping to make sure that the game stays in circulation for years to come, with a neat new offering in the game that you see here.

Claustrophobia 1692 has been designed to be easy to learn but packed full of cinematic moments. You will play through scenario-driven missions where the characters on both sides are seeking to achieve a variety of objectives, navigating the nightmarish labyrinth of Hell!

Claustrophobia 1692 Gameplay - Devir

Claustrophobia 1692 Gameplay // Devir

Claustrophobia 1692 will launch with two boxes. The Core Box will work as your entry point into this dungeon-crawling game. The De Profundis Expansion will then be geared towards more experienced players and collectors looking to take things to the next level.

The Core Box will contain...

  • A Rulebook
  • 6 thrilling scenarios
  • 5 Human miniatures: The Redeemer, 2 Condemned Blades, and 2 Condemned Brutes
  • 11 Troglodyte miniatures
  • 1 Demon miniature (All miniatures will come unpainted)
  • The Infernal Plotting Board
  • 5 Human Warrior Boards
  • All the dice, cards, and tokens needed to play
  • 36 Hellscape tiles

...and the De Profundis expansion will come with...

  • A Rulebook
  • 14 new scenarios
  • 2 new Human warriors: Sicaria and the Lancer
  • 13 Infernal miniatures, each representing a unique demon from the game
  • 2 Human Warrior Boards
  • Additional cards, tokens, and 14 Hellscape tiles

All of this is to serve you up an awesome struggle beneath the earth against the forces of Hell! A small band of human survivors have to face down endless waves of demonic horrors. One player will take on the role of those humans, whilst the other controls the powers of Hell. Will you go with the small but mighty force or the endless waves of demons?

Claustrophobia 1692 Heroes - Devir

Claustrophobia 1692 - Heroes // Devir

All of this is based around fast-paced and thematic games and a set of newly streamlined rules which allow you to get stuck into the action. Your scenarios could be a daring escape or sealing portals to Hell across the tabletop. Gameplay is driven by assigning dice to warriors in order for them to perform different actions. The game comes with a set of modular dungeon tiles to help shake up the action from scenario to scenario, all backed up by a select variety of plastic miniatures and wonderful new artwork.

Claustrophobia 1692 Monsters - Devir

Devir are also promising a lean, clear and practical Gamefound campaign. There won't be endless piles of plastic, for example. You will get miniatures for what you need and that's it. They also don't intend to go overboard with the stretch goals and there will be a select array of exclusive items for backers. The idea is that this is a manageable campaign that helps fund the game's relaunch and a future spot on shelves at your friendly local gaming store.

You can check out the Gamefound Campaign for yourself and follow along ahead of the start next week!
