Happy Easter Weekend!
It’s the Weekend!!
………… Yes I know – it started yesterday!
No it didn’t; that was Good Friday…
………… It was OK. But it felt like the Weekend.
and Monday isn’t the Weekend either…
…………. Why not?
Because there’s no Weekender or XLBS…
…………. so what about Weekends without Weekenders, do they count?
Technically yes, but they don’t FEEL like a weekend.
…………. why am I having this conversation with myself?
Because it’s only 0620 and all sensible people are still asleep!
…………. why aren’t I?
Habit and your ****ing bladder!
………….. shall we watch a video?
WE? Yes I shall!
…………… why can’t I?
Because you’re only a miniature, and you’re not even based properly yet!
…………….[silence]
GOOD! Finally! [Presses play]
Lol
Morning! Time to pop the kettle on eh? 😉
Terrain Crate ideas? A number of different Market stalls.
Terrain Ideas form me would be:
Dungeon Crawler:
Wizards Hat stand with a few different hats.
Vault-style door with riveted surrounds and a round handle
Skeleton -themed alter, bookcase, organ (like a church organ), doorway and a portal mirror.
Doorways that lead downwards, I.e. a stairway to a cellar, a well or wishing well without water, a trapdoor in the floor, a hatch door that leads to a cellar, pipe way entrance leading down 🙂
For a market place:
),
Individual or racked olive oil amphora (
stalls as suggested earlier Arabic or roman design, Tents would be good too.
A note to anyone considering terrain crate: mantic still haven’t fulfilled all the rewards for Dungeon Saga.
I’m so pumped as always for Salute coverage!
Really?
Is it a case that there are a few items that haven’t been done that were listed in the KS, or is it that some people still haven’t got their stuff?
Just wondering if I’ve missed anything; I ended up with sooooo much stuff that I don’t have a clue as to whether anything didn’t turn up. Furniture sets? Yeah, I seem to have three of those…
A novel and a second gamebook were promised to all backers and never arrived. Not essential items for me, though I was really excited about the gamebooks. I just think that if something was promised it should be delivered.
Oh yeah. I vaguely remember something about them.
Think that I filed that under “Stuff That I Don’t Care About” and promptly forgot that it was ever mentioned!
And… boom!
Just got an email saying that the DS novel is available for download.
Ever get the feeling that you’re being watched? Because, I kind of need to go to the toilet at the moment and this is a bit disturbing….
I know! I’ve read the first part to the first chapter and it looks OK. Couldn’t say that about the KoW kickstarter novel. Just one more gamebook to go!
For terrain crate I’d love to see some actual crates like those for in warehouses. Good for fantasy and sci fi! Also some fallen trees for difficult terrain in KoW would be nice.
For the MANTIC competition:
A pile of skulls of mixed races with a rat rampant on top.
Optional and awesome: The rat is holding an eyeball with a nerve tendril into the topmost skull eye socket.
Is this the right place to post this ???
Hey, why am I wizard Pink; wizard Pink sounds like wizard P#ssy
Why can’t we pick our own colours?
Cause it always ends that two of you will want to be Wizard Black…..
The VASH’UH mini is awesome. I love the masked face and of course the sniper rifle! What an interesting character.
Weekender time!
Warren ragnar isnt the be all end all of viking leaders. Theres many MANY interesting men in that show (and future shows) who are famous vikings in their own right! I dunno how far into the show you are so i wont mention names as it could ruin story archs…but theres more than just ragnar out there.
Plus there can only be one ragnar lothbrok haha
Does he know the HighLander ? as I am sure Colin McCloud would have something to say over that.
Yup as I get through the series there are a ton of brilliant characters
And I’m far enough on now to start venturing on to Wikipedia to learn about them lol
Have you decided if Ragnar was a real person yet or just an amalgamation of different people?
…tut-tut!
@warzan I have to thank you for turning me on onto Vikings, it’s on Amazon prime and this week the Mrs. and I have been having a proper binge watch in the in the evenings, already done season 1. We’re completely hooked. Cheers!
@warzan you should really have a look at Egill Skallagrimson my favourite out of the Sagas.
Warrior, Scald and a Chieftain who did manage to live to a ripe old age of 80.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egill_Skallagrímsson
“At the age of seven, Egill was cheated in a game with local boys. Enraged, he went home and procured an axe, and returning to the boys, split the skull to the teeth of the boy who cheated him. “
I like how Björn is growing in the series and wandering how he will be evolving further in the future.
PS. I haven’t looked up anything about the real historical background of this character.
Faith Competition:
Yi Lee
The female Corvo
1) I have always loved the concept of war dancers- from real world ancient Africa, to scifi elves. That pose is so beautiful, and dynamic- an ultimate expression of war dancing, also the svelte and graceful lines of that model matches the whole war dancer aesthetic; also it evokes Max Payne and the Matrix’s Bullet Time/ slowed time dodges and jumps. You can imagine the laser blasts peppering all around this character, as it is micro moving in its flip to avoid and to return fire
2) The race name. I love crows and that is so close to the latin Corvus: the genus crows are in.The figure in design is very bird-like also matching that race name.
Happy weekender!
Regarding a slightly larger piece for the terrain crate, I would suggest The Throne.
No, not a pointy one made of rare swords that seems to be the rage these days. Nor a small one out of boring materials such as wood, stone or skulls.
The Throne, is a Beast. Quite literally. The head of slain Fenris, avatar of the Wild Gods, the Giant Wolf. Within its gaping maws, the Ruler sits on a seat carved out from the tongue of the monster. The Throne only recognizes one authority: Power, absolute, undiluted and corrupting.
“such as wood, stone or skulls*”
* a never-ending amount of humanoid skulls that is, not an awsome giant wolf skull 😉
3 laws of robotics- bicentennial man really– Really— REALLY as an example of Asimov’s laws –DUDE come on: I Robot is the goto ;-p
For terrain ideas how about just some inexpensive fences, walls and hedges?. I think gamers can never have enough of these
Third law is awesome. the whole thing is on print and play. rules, tokens, dice customization squares to stick on die, tokens, cards, and standees, even strategy guides. Awesome
When at Salute if you could have a quick look at the Baccus stall for their new ECW range and the WW1 Turkish range that would be great. There is also going to be a demo game if the 1706 Battle of Kalisz which is being done by the people that did 6mm SAGA which would be nice to see
It’s the Weekend 😀 . @dignity check out Gripping Beasts Swordpoint Participation Game, they have a Classical Armies Book releasing at Salute as well for a historical gaming hit.
For Mantic, for a larger piece, integrated dice towers. Perhaps a hollow tree trunk with an exit amount the lower roots that can double as an objective or a egress point for a board of underground beasties. Other shapes could include a village water fountain with the dice ending up in the well area, a crystal shard jutting from the ground, cracked and jagged. While the crystal and tree are fairly universal for genre, you could also do sci-fi specific shapes like a partially destroyed Juggernaut automaton or a power station tower.
These could be multi part items, not pre assembled, and cast in plastic. All you need is a hollow space with tumble bars or plates internally. This could be a sideline of interactive terrain. Others in the line could be working traps or secret working doors. Although, those may be beyond the scope of the current Kickstarter.
Guild ball week, yeah!
I really want them to also do Scifi and Modern Terrain for Mars Attacks, The Walking Dead, Deadzone, and Warpath and such, not just fantasy type terrain.
I went to school with Andy the butch GW guy. We started in the hobby together.
What went wrong in my life…?
Happy Easter
Looking forward to the hobby live thing!
Might do some 30k as well on Thursday as I’m running out of Victrix Romans and will have to wait till after Salute before I can continue with my legion.
Good to see Rob again, the Mantic KS sounds really interesting!
Wait..it’s gonna be the 27th which is after Salute!!!
So I WILL pester you with Romans mwahahha!
Really good to see GW interacting with the community again. Although I have drifted away from their games now GW kicked me, and i’m sure many of us, off in this hobby. Long may they continue to bring new blood!
For Mantics terrain: perhaps a weapons rack holding some VERY familiar weapons from fantasy film, art & fiction?
Happy weekend… Terrain well i was thinking of a Gallows… But the @dignity went and scuppered that one…Git . Sticking to a theme…How about one that will get @warzan interested…
An Iron Maiden… Complete with body or Skellie to get @lloyd interested…lol
For Terrain Crate: A large Astrolab like the one from the “Dark Crystal” Movie in Augras great observatory.
Or a huge Dwarven or Viking Horn, like the horn in “Erik the Viking”… this is stuff which is realy rare to find for miniature gaming.
They forgot to mention that there’s a prize for anyone who videobombs Justin at Salute and licks his bald head on camera. It’s not even for the first person who does, everyone who licks his bald head will get a prize 😉
Is there a prize if you just bomb him?
Re GW: i said a decade ago at early GCN / GW meetings that GW needed to treat their customers better and glad we are finally seeing a positive thought process towards the community. I stopped helping GW at Games day when they said we had to pay for our own parking at the NEC when we were doing the day for free for them and saving them thousands in paying their own staff as their were almost 200 free volunteers running gaming tables etc.
Got hauled over the coals for that opinion as at that time GW didn’t take well to criticism.
Also suggested that each time they want to release a new / updated army box that they poll their customers and ask them what they wanted in the box model wise as if you do that then you’ll not only sell more, you make your customers feel engaged in the process and feel important to the company and not just seen as cash cows everytime new rules are pushed on them.
Instead they continued to sort what went in new boxes from within GW and the decline started, and peoples moved to new systems and manufacturers like Warlord, Mantic etc.
It’s too late for me to get back into their games now as i sold all my GW stuff years ago and it’s still very expensive to start a new army from scratch as they can’t go back on their price structure. Damage irrevocable unfortunately.
Still think £25 for 10 plastic greatswords was a huge mistake.
I wish them well
I remember literally not believing that price. I thought there was a misprint.
You’ll need to find someone to go half-sies on an AoS starter box……
For the Mantic competition, one image that stuck with me from a Dracula movie was the impaled corpses outside a castle or town. I think that would make an awesome (slightly creepy) terrain feature. Corpse on a stick.
@warzan @dignity whoever appears on the weekender wearing a pair of hairy trousers first gets to be Ragnar, that will settle it.
on the topic of hobby night live regarding calls, id advise keep it to backstagers otherwise you will get trolled to hell an back by ppl who just randomly found the stream and want to mess with someone, the last thing you want is getting banned because some random idiot screams the N word(no the n word isn’t Napoleonics..) on stream.
Agreed
I think your probably right on this 🙂
you heard it here first ppl, @warzan has agreed to wear hairy trousers! 😀
Terrain Crate sounds fantastic. I’d love to see
– a well
– cracked floor tiles (entry points for rats, etc.)
– mad scientist bubbling glassware
– tiny creatures or demons in cages
– stuff else
Your man fro Mantic is scary. I like him.
Thoughts on GW interview. Good points it was great to see that GW are engaging again, was it me or did it seem that they only agreed to talk if it was within strict parameters? I maybe just cynical, and it’s may just be them finding their confidence but it seemed like a yeah this is what we did at adepticon… And we are engaging more with being the community, nothing to in depth. Still baby steps I guess. 🙂 don’t get me wrong i am liking the new direction GW are going it reminds me of my early gaming days before they became a monolithic corporate plc rather than a gamer focused company.
I think I would like to see what GW did well in the past which is almost a scatter gun effect. That is to try things a bit out of the ordinary to see if it works. For example I couldnt see any of the specialist games of the past being created these days in their original form even with this new cuddly supposedly more customer driven GW
Can’t wait for Salute, been going for years but this is the first time attending with a gaming table and running a day long demo game of 4 player Infinity.
@dignity We’ll be at GJ16 (near Gripping Beast) so come say hello if you get a chance 🙂

I am with Lloyd the Farmer’s sounds dull. they should be something like Earth Engineers or something like that LOL.
@warzan
Check this out: http://stronghold-terrain.de/index.php/miniaturen/saga-collectibles-miniatures/vikings-deal.html
🙂
in a sci fi set I would love to see an auto loader (like a reach truck that picks up supplies and stacks)
in a modern set an arcade (slot machines, game conceals)
or for a dungeon would love to see a stone other-world portal
Afternoon All!
Really looking forward to covering the painting competition again… for the 3rd year in a row!
Let me know what you want to see more of, and I’ll do my best to cover all I can.
@warxan – sorry to spoil the party but FW have already quashed rumours of a plastic thunderhawk with their new one…
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/04/10/thunderhawk-inbound/
Oops typo – @warzan ^^
Pants I was really looking forward to that lol
no plastic thunderhawk you say? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:680007
boo – no plastic thunderhawk….
For the terrain, knurled old tree with crows in it and bodies hanging from it’s branches as well as a knight crucified on the tree with a crow pecking out his eye.
I would like to see some Destroyed war engine for terrain create idea
For the Mantic competition- please please please make an ‘adventurers campsite’ set. In my opinion, this would add a lot to the ‘long rests’ out in the wilderness during D&D adventures. For example, we have currently had some great encounters where we have been set upon at night but our campsite consists of a pencil sharpener and some torn up pieces of paper for the beds. We have also had set scenarios in our campsite so it would really add to this. You could have a really cool campfire centrepiece, even with a roasting spit over the top, something like that! Then there are the bedrolls, backpacks to have strewn around etc.
Faith competition- I really like the Vash’Uh miniature/ sculpt. Even though I have no experience of this RPG/ lore, I already know this guy is a badass just from looking at this!
If Terrain Crate is going to be sorting stuff for the Dungeon, I would love to see something that lets you do multiple levels over your floorplans easily. Cavern ledges, raised platforms with wells or stairs, rickety leaning scaffolds, ominous statues with high places you can put a mini easily, that kind of thing!
Or for above ground, a mineshaft or dungeon entrance piece, so you can link the overworld to your sidetable dungeon more easily.
On the subject of the Terrain Crate:
I’d really love to see some classic styled sci-fi scenery.
On the subject of Wizkids Unpainted Miniatures:
The details on those are really nice. I have a couple of them, but they do come primed (it says that on packaging) and with plenty of mold lines to clean up. For me this is a big downside because I like to prime them myself, which I’ll still do, and removing the mold lines just damages the primer that’s already on them. They really don’t cost a lot, but to me I think it would be better if they came non-primed. I found that the packaging often bends swords and stuff. These can however be straightened with some near-boiling water. They are made of plastic not resin.
Terrain create ideas:
Big copper / brass Dwarven brewery vat.
Alchemist’s workbench with bubbly chemistry set.
I would like to have a of good roling hills in resing or such that would work fine to place miniatures and trees and such on it without having things sliding ofr from it easily. Perhaps it is a gravitational impossible, but Mantic might make it, to few good looking hills on the market.
As I watch through the episode I understand that its “smaller” terrain pieces that are in mind xD
I would love to see a printer, as a modern xerox machine, that is horrifyingly industructible. Would have to get quite a few for either my infinity tables and use as objectives or why not even make a xerox-store for TWD, “did you want that in red?”
I would love to see some scatter terrain corpses! In the 41st millennium, the galaxy is a constant war zone……but nobody seems to have died?
Nice to see a guild ball week . How a saga week soon.
I fully support a Saga week
I don’t know about a themed week, but I’ve enjoyed the segments on the weekender.
I’m sure this was already mentioned.. but the D&D characters with clear plastic bits are already pre-primed!!! So no need to tape off the clear bits!!!! Lol… but great idea for the stand ins and actually those D&D unpainted (but pre-primed) are some great models!!!
@warzan with you on the Vikings, I have a 4 pt plastic saga band to look at. Check out V&V miniatures they have some beautiful Vikings, I am hunting for some berserkers. Them and the new gripping beast plastic archer will probably round out the basic warband.
Also have to admit the very Norse style of the 30k wolves really appeals, and may be drawn into a mini project for them.
Guildball week, is going to be so good and @dignity is spot on with the farmers. Be interesting to see what they have achieved with the plastics as they are meant to be about a 30% improvement on the kick off minis.
Terrain wise, a ruined market set, with overturned carts and spilled produce would be nice. However if we are going large resin, then drawing on the Vikings and Conan themes a snake pit would be very cool.
On the GW thing it is good to see them continuing to reach out and that so far it is just the beginning, even though it seems what I am looking for and what they are providing is moving further and further apart. I would love 8th to be the game that gets me to get my Orks and Tau back on the table.
love to see if there are any new gaming mats showing at salute also any great universal terrain
For Terrain Crate: startin to look kin to wild west games and would love to get some terrain that fits that, maybe some skater terrain for a western street; water trots, wagons.. also like stuff for a saloon bar; bar, piano, barricade of tables and chairs.
Just got off the Mantic website, and the terrain looks awesome! I think it would be pretty cool to see a cathedral or monastery with a removable top. You could have columns, pews, a pulpit, etc… inside. That could be ideal for cityscapes or the countryside, but it could also work in some fancy settings.
Happy weekend!
For the Mantic terrain I would love to see a spooky old oak tree. Here is the twist you could have components to decorate it as you wish. For example a Gibbet, a crow, a corpse hanging etc…
terrain crate:
Genuine botomless pit
Dragons eggs
Trap corridors
Collapsing floors (removable slabs really)
Loin cloth rack
Dwarfen beard grooming parlor
Cavern bar for mid delve levelling
Mine carts and track
Chasms and rope bridges
Piles of bodies
So @lancorz starts out as the resident nurse, now he’s been promoted to the designated BoW Dryad. “Damn you and your sexy looks”
Great show guys!
Ya, unfortunately Forge World already broke the plastic Thunderhawk dream for now with showing off their new sculpt of it.
I was really impressed with those new Wizkids non pre-painted models when I first saw them. They have great detail and for only $4usd retail you get either 3 small minis, 2 humans size or one bigger monster. At that price and with the quality of the detail I feel they are def worth picking up even if you don’t need them for D&D or Pathfinder. As I think they would be great models to work on your painting with.
My Favorite of the Faith models is Gen’Gala female Iz’kal. I love the way the cloths are flowing around her form and has the sword pointed at someone. But my favorite part is the face, I just see so much character in it, a sadness(for her foe I think) but yet a will to do whatever she has too.
Well, of course there are lots of monsters at the North Pole. We know that is where the warp gates that form the Chaos Wastes are.
That’s why there is an assault on Santa’s Workshop every year. amirite @oriskany ?
Thanks very much, @enginseer . 😀 😀 😀 When i heard @brennon talk about Santa in combat I was wondering if anyone was going to mention our annual Santa Claus NPDF battles 😀
http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/painting/forum/topic/north-pole-is-under-attack-for-a-third-time-really/

Thanks very much, @enginseer . 😀 😀 😀 When i heard Ben talk about Santa in combat I was wondering if anyone was going to mention our annual Santa Claus NPDF battles 😀

http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/painting/forum/topic/news-flash-north-pole-under-attack-again/
New swishes are nice.
For Faith I have to say I like the Human Lady with the shoulder mounted weapon/device. The fact that it has a great sense of movement is a bonus. And I would love a model of the ship they have in the Praise and Awards section.
Mantic idea I have is parts of a golem or some other magic construct. That you could put together for a model. Like the bits are being brought together to finish the construct.
Justin and Dragins Death Match for the role of Ragnar!
Rock paper wizard seems so fun…
Also dand minis looks awesome but obviously are like reaper bones soft plastic, btw a great deal for 3 heroes and les than 6€ I think.
I pick male corvo as a tricky mind reader dominator, seems cool wird things on a sci-fi technology enviorment…
About mantic plastic terrain I will love to see some tapestry with history about legend of hapi or dragoons from mantica and humans/dwarfs or others facing them, like 8×5″ engraved… some huge mine entrance will be awesome to, lastly maybe a basilean statue of war encounter!
Happy Easter to all.
My idea for the Terrain Crate is drying racks for fishing nets. Any medieval fishing town would have racks for cleaning and repairing their nets.
These would block movement but not block LOS, working sort of like medieval “chain-link” fences.
in the terrain crate the ferry man we must not pay and his boat, a burning witch,or some good old bridges would be nice
I like the sound of the new kickstarter terrain crate.
First half of the show was awesome… need to save the second half for later, got to drive for work and can’t watch and drive.
For Terrain Crate:
How about a rowboat and a small dock?
Or maybe a small mausoleum? Which would go together nicely if the town set also included some wrought-iron and stone fence sections.
Vendors I’d like you to chat with at Salute:
Baccus
Battle Systems
Brigade Models
Deep Cut Studios
Fireforge
Forgeworld
Hasslefree
Heresy
Renedra
Spectre
Plastic Soldier Company
Too Fat Lardies
Victrix
Westwind/Forged in Battle
These are dealers I know have good stuff and they don’t get near the play I think they should.
You could add Pendraken and Kallistra to the list well maybe especially with BKC 3 being released
For Mantic – Elemental Offering Circle (Dungeon) – a circular room with four collums or rock buttresses holding a brazier at each of the compass points around a central alter/offering brazier/fountain. Each brazier could contain different removable elements (earth, air, fire, water) almost becoming a puzzle for the players (which element at which compass point). The floor would be stone or marble with channels running in rings and spokes coming from the central area, that could be filled with water or lava, or arcane/fel energies.
Honestly, the FAITH miniatures seriously make me wish the game was a pure miniatures game because I would love more than just that handful of brilliantly sculpted alien races.
As for a favorite…my favorite is most definitely Skid (male corvo). I absolutely love that telekinetic space wizard pose. I could easily see me using it in a wide variety of games. First, it just looks freakin’ cool. Secondly, it’s incredibly versatile. It could represent reading a potential enemy’s mind, healing an ally with his own life force, or working some Jedi telekinesis. Also? “I can kill you with my brain.” Love it!
So, commenting for prizes it is. 🙂
I would like to see a mounted beasts’ head in the Terrain Crate. Something you would see above the fireplace in an inn, a lord’s castle, maybe even a dungeon.
It could be a stag, a boar, maybe even a dragon.
It could be used just as wall decoration, but maybe it has practical use as well. It could be enchanted to spy on the characters, be animated and talk, or just be a proxy for a Domovoi, an East European house spirit.
From all the Faith characters I like the model of Roadblock the best. I just like the sense of strength and movement in that pose.
lol that was a fun show! watching you guys playing rock paper wizard was like watching me play any board game with my girlfriend (her words) 🙂
idea for Terrain Crate: water well
I’m saying it over and over again Freebooters Fate:
Freebooter Miniatures http://www.freebooterminiatures.com TH13
At Salute
The journeyman warcaster was Malakov not Strahkov. This is Strahkov 2.
*Please* have some pledges for the boardgamers. Specifically, I’d like to see pledge levels of terrain sets for Descent and Gloomhaven, possibly also HeroQuest. For a large resin piece, I’d like to see a “riser” to elevate dungeon levels. Maybe make it half-height and have the piece snap apart into smaller pieces for customization. Thanks for the colored plastic!
Actually, speaking of bars, how about… a bar?
The tavern is a mainstay of roleplaying, yet only Pathfinder has made a bar. And it’s a “promotional” piece where your retailer had to buy the entire brick of miniatures before you could buy a piece to sell!
Good show guys.
For the Mantic terrain crate I’d like to see some carpentry and/or mason tools. Perhaps a wheel barrow, ladder, pile of bricks, pile of wood (2×4’s), tools, etc. For a larger piece or pieces how about standing stones? Have several of them so that a circle could be made.
The Faith miniatures look pretty good. I wouldn’t mind those. I may actually back this game. I really like the aliens as I think they are done very well and I find that many companies don’t do aliens well. I think the aliens here are done very well.
I have to agree with a comment earlier that the go to reference for the 3 laws is i-robot by Isaac Asimov.
The new wizkids unpainted miniatures look great. I really need to pick up a few (all) of them. I especially want the monsters that they have created.
I really hope you do get a conversation with an official GW person. I think that would be great to see. Once they try it maybe they could make it a semi regular (monthly or bimonthly) thing. I know wishful thinking.
I really enjoyed the show. Great job.
All kick-starter pitches should be made with a hammer, I’m in terrain crate! Also faith rpg looks amazing. Remko has the best pose, bonus style points.
It was entertaining, but I’d still worry more about them chipping rather than them breaking.
Super show guys.
Hope to see you at Salute
Hey BoW, it’s always nice to See the werdender…
To Faith my favourite charakter is Skit. If available my first charakter in an rpg is a hacker, because ihm not good at computerstuff in the real world. So the corvo fits to my preferences very well and i like the modell.
Although I like the idea of a guild ball week, i will follow you.
Until next time
Weekender, write weekender, damn autocorrection…
Terrain Crate wish list as often being a DM. Some of these
may already be cooked but I don’t see a list anywhere.
Long list, I know, but most of these I have as card board and
would love to move to plastic as you showed in the video, something that is more durable. Not that I want to hit anything with a hammer.
Fantasy:
– Doors: Open and closed and even better if you can create one that can be open or closed. But, lets not just have plain old doors. How about spiked gates/bars that can be raised and lowered?
– Floor Traps: Many dungeon crawler board games have traps. Spike traps, a trap having a hand that comes up and pulls the character under. Fire traps with flames. You displayed a pentagram, what would be cool is a heavily cracked floor with lava flow.
– Maps: Yes, maps in plastic that I can paint the way I want that are not paper that get crushed. Large maps that can be placed on a 32mm table or one I can put up on a wall. People can print water slide stickers to put the details. Maps can be used in many games other than D&D
– Scrolls: I know I saw magic books in the video, let us also have scrolls. Rolled up, partially torn, partially open and if open large enough so I can use water slide decals for words or text.
– Coffins: Coffins that can have an open top where a DM or player can place items into such as a sword or gold or scrolls or other items
– Banners and/or Sigils: Popular in video games and as a universal marker for a objective. These should be large, wavy and even tattered with v and double V bottoms. Large enough so they can be painted easily with whatever mark, crest or symbol one would like to use.
– Items: I know I saw bunched up armor and a sword in a rock, but individual items are required as well. Meaning, sword, axe, bows, spears etc. For tables you want food, goblets, bowls of fruit etc. Many games use food for health. Bottles of wine or whiskey would work well and many of WWII movie had soldiers held up in a farm house with at least some French wine. Even individual books both open and closed.
– Sorcerer’s or witches labs and familiars: I have not seen caldrons with boiling whatever, beakers of potions and whatever I would find Merlin’s lab. Large glass jars or interesting stuff, like a head or interesting plants with heads. Of course you already have the book shelves. A Witch may have some shrunken heads on the wall or frogs ready to be boiled with herbs. With the wizards and witches I would like to see the Owl as you have as well as perhaps a cat in different poses. A wolf, raven, hawk or eagle. It would be cool if you could have beakers that of different color liquid. Extra robes and hats should be able to hung on a wall.
– Pillars: There should be Egyptian, Roman and Greek columns. Large and small as well as full and broken. There are many games like Mythic Battles: Pantheon that can easily use those pieces. Broken floors and stair cases also work well and can be used in many scenarios. What would be cool is something that looks like the temple of Athena that is crumbling.
– The Town Portal: I always wanted a portal like that in Stargate SG-1. It could be used as a town portal for D&D type games or to teleport in SciFi games. If you make it such it can be on its end like Stargate SG-1 or on the ground like Diablo III then it could be used in multiple scenarios.
– Treasure Chests: Yes, I know, but I want them to open and close so I can put my own items inside. Some can overflow with cold, some should be cursed and other just empty. I want my players in a RPG not to know what they are getting until they open it.
– Ghosts: Yes, ghosts. In many games you have the dead coming to talk to you or direct you. I have never seen either clear or translucent ghostly figures that need zero painting. They are there to help direct you to another objective. I know that you can do this with plastic as my wife has many candle bases that are clear or translucent that are fairly ornate and sculpted. Some like glass but they are not.
– Reflecting Pools and Power Shrines: In many, many video games and even older D&D it was popular to get your health from drinking from a reflecting pool of great beauty or glowing shrines that the hero must go and touch to restore his health. These could be a statue of an angle, a knight or a demon for those not so nice shrines. These also make great objective markers. For the pools, they should be deep enough so that you can use the great water making items available to make water in the pools or so that you can place an image inside the pool to show something the lady from the water in the water who gives your hero strength. It would be cool if the shrines could have a way to be used with an LED to allow it to be lighted. A glowing bulb perhaps on top. Not necessarily as part of the kit, but made such that someone who is craft can make it glow with simple tools.
– The Dungeon: The Dungeon was often the jail. Primitive jails with iron bars, floors that are hay and wood. Shackles and torture devices used to extract information from prisoners would set a scene. Having skeletons of the poor souls left to die in the cells would be a nice touch.
– The Blacksmith: Key to many dungeon crawling games is to have your character get new armor or repair items you have or to have that character get unique items crafted with exotic gems. Yet, I have never ever seen a blacksmith set. One with a forge, anvil, hammer and other blacksmith tools including items spewed about the place that are either ready to be sold or levels disrepair – junk pile.
– The Merchant with all the cool stuff: Every dungeon crawler and fantasy has some element to have the character level up his cool toys (weapons). I have never seen the traveling merchants cart or cottage or whatever trope where the hero can go to level up his weapons or armor. This should include pieces of individual boots, helmets, armor, shields, swords, axes, etc. that one can put out for display. These do not even need to be to scale. The person can simply hold the item as part of his character to show he has leveled up an item. Since we do not have the stash bag in the physical world and it is mostly paper and pen, it would be nice to at least have the stash. Even better if you have a treasure chest your character has to store his items. One that opens and you can put your items inside, again, scale may not be necessary. Many games have dragon armor, or the Red Boots of Valor or whatever, I want to paint and pick those items up as actual pieces. I know there is a limit of unique items you can make but there is no limit on the color of paint I can use.
Science Fiction:
– Laser Turrets: This year is the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars. If you search under “X-Wing Star War Trench Run” you will see all many of home brewed laser turrets. What is needed is some affordable multi piece turrets where the turret can rotate and the guns go up and down. Given the number of X-Wing players in the world with their many tournaments and given this is year is the 40th anniversary, it seems this would be an instant hit provided they are affordable. 12 are required for the Trench Run. If they can be manufactured for $30 this would work great. Molded in gray but with exterior details that can be washed or dry brushed. Even for non-Star Wars fans, all the SciFi miniature games can use laser turrets.
– Power Generator: Affordable power generator units. These are objectives in many games. Power seems to be a powerful commodity in SciFi
– Repair Bays: Fully modeled Mech or vehicle repair bays. Structures where you can see cranes and other set pieces used to repair a 40ft tall Mech. For example, in Pacific Rift, the mechs laid on table looking flatbed truck for repairs and then lifted when ready. BattleTech literature talks about these large mech bays where arms and legs can be replaced. Turrets on vehicles are put into place for repairs etc. Think of a repair garage for scifi. Make sure there large doors that can be opened and closed. If done correctly, that can also be a hanger for WWII
WWII Items
– Field Items and Objectives: While I have seen some of these things I will discuss, there are not always easy to find or you need to purchase a bunch of models to get enough for a set piece. These includes spent shells not just unspent shells. Good to put around Flak guns or howitzers. Have the ammo crates but also spent and unspent rounds. Aircraft and many armor units use 50cal belted ammo. I have never seen long belts and spent 50cal ammo for effect. While you are at it, ammo boxes of various sizes. When you are done with ammo, med kits and crates full of supplies used for supply drops including the parachutes that were dropped with the crates.
– M*A*S*H: As in Mobile Army Surgical Hospital — Seems like this is a missing set piece including beds, cots, ambulance, surgical equipment, tents, siren, water tower, etc. required for a field hospital. This was not just the Korean theater like in the TV show.
– Field junk: Pictures of WWII show us a lot or rubble and broken down parts. Tank tracks, modern metal drums, chains, rope, tank wheels or and tires. Large rubber tires filled with sand make just as good a bullet stop as sand bags and were often used in a pinch for camps when possible.
– Tents and netting: As in actual scale tents and camouflage netting I can use to cover tanks or artillery.
For terrain crate, i would love to see dead zone/warpath scatter terrain. Burnt out wrecks, weapons caches, exploded crates, infested walls and terminals. Jury rig welded barricades, reinforced doorways and barricades, etc.
I am already backing the Faith game as I have the previous two releases, it really is an amazing game system, my favourite miniature is between Remko and Yi Lee as they really give a feel of fighting in 0g, I love the dynamism of Remko, and the graceful beauty of Yi Lee.
For Terrain Crate I would like to see a decent sized Bar room, Complete with walls, cubicles, furniture, bar fire place, wall decorations, a bar, a sprue of tankards, kegs plates of food etc and another clear sprue of bottles. Design it so it is modular and you can effectively x design your own bar room.
Whether this idea is a winner or not we definitely need clear plastic sprues of various bottles both alcoholic and alchemical.
Roadblock looks great. He is by far my favorite.
For the terrain crate, I’d like to see scatter terrain from several different periods: Fantasy, Sci-fi, and modern.
When I heard about the Terrain Crate I had envisioned a box which folded out into dungeon/battlefield terrain, something that would allow it to be stored as well as having the terrain.
I was going to go with a giblet but I was beaten to the punch by @dignity, so I am going to have to go with some rugs and bear skins for the floor. These would look good and also leave the players wondering if that was some sort of trap.
great show the terrain crate stuff looks fabulous.
For the Terrain crate I would like to see some sort of portals to jump, like Star Trek transporters, from one area to another. Useable in fantasy or sci-fi.
Liking the look of the corvo. As for terrain what about gargoyles? Or other decorations…suits of armour, mounted weapons or shields, banners and so on. A suit of armour for a large race or creature might make a cool center piece. “Oh that? Yeah that’s rover’s weekday armour. Rover’s my dragon. No big…whatevs…”
For the Mantic Terrain Crate, how about the infamous Dread Gazebo.
For the Faith RPG minis, I like both Remko and Yi Lee the best. The poses are just so dynamic and I haven’t seen poses like them before. Yi Lee is probably my top pick as I could see it being put into many different scenes/dioramas and looking awesome.
For the Mantic competition I think a smashed wagon or cart would look good. For sci do maybe a wrecked loading robot. Or maybe a really big mining machine. Some sort of open bed skimmer transport would be really cool.
Happy Easter.
For the crate, I just want to see some modern/sci fi weapons racks, control panels, safes, telescopes, mad scientist room items…I could keep going.
I want to see an Alchemical Table with lots of potion bottles and ingredients.Beakers and twisty tubes with a bunsen burner and such.
For Mantic terrain, I would like to see:
Campfire, wild fire, torture equipment…
Cheer guys 🙂
I LOVE the Faith setting and thing the male Human is my favorite of all the ones we have seen.
Both possible prizes are interresting for me, The Faith Sci-Fi will give me cool mini and the Terrain KS from Mantic will add fun element to my D&D & Pathfinder games.
My Sugestion for Terrain Crate will be somekind of Frankenstein Lab, i.e. the bed, a table of potions and brain jars, some telsa machines and somekind of antena to get hit by thunder.
Would love to see a wheel of pain, iron maiden, wrack, good ole fashion instruments of love and affection.
Alternatively for a battlefield dead horses, warriors with and with out birds picking at them could be really cool too.
Iron Maiden’s a good one….
terrain crate sounds interesting. always good to have more on the table
Terrain crate mantic, I would love to see a fountain centre piece. So far I have thought of two variants. The first could be a fountain of youth with little p***ing cherubs and Ronnie ceressing a mermaid as the centre piece. Or a fountain of ale with dwarves runes and little dwarves swishing to make the beer have bubbles. You could use the kings of war fallen dwarves from the iron guard sprue as dwarves that might have had too much fun at the fountain. A fountain would be a great centre piece and a great objective.
For terrain crate I’d like to see a criminal in a gibbet, with a little crow perched on top patiently waiting on his demise
It’s really nice to see Games Workshop re engaged with their user community. I hope to see them also engaging with BOW and other media channels.
Well what a ripper show ! Great news about GW, they are slowly winning over this jaded old Wargammer who honestly only played GW games in his former life and gave up gaming due to what they became. I have 2 Khorne warriors on my painting table and I am on the edge of plunging back into a pool of violence and blood with what I am seeing from the Nottingham giants of the industry.
COMPETITION – On to the company that brought me back into gaming – Mantic superb KoW – Given that I have enough Undead to fill a preverbial graveyard – I am going to have to suggest – Cemetery items such as – Gravestones, Digging equipmment (Mound with shovels and barrows), Statues (Gargoyles), Gates and Fences, Columbarium walls, Crypts and tombs, Maybe a gravedigger and priest miniature (always like civilians), don’t forget the dwarven and elven adventurers who may be burried there and potentially some themed Egyptian / Arabian style burial areas for those who lean towards to tomb kings, also I might suggest a prayer area(s) or small temple, some open graves (my escapees), and some unfinished graves (pits – or at least the dirt mound that would be surrounding it), robbed graves, etc … (Maybe a couple of historical themed graves like the ship shaped viking rock circles.
Cheers !!
For the Mantic terrain I would like an Egyptian themed sarcophagi. It can be with the lid completely on, or slightly broken, or with the lid off onto the side. It should be in smooth stone, with hieroglyphs on top. If the lid is removed (or broken) one could see another, smaller cask inside which could then be the gilded, more detailed one, holding the ancient king and the treasures…
I’ve got some bases like that (they are hero bases essentially from the tomb range)
http://www.darkartminiatures.com/40mm_Tomb_Hero_base/p1768314_13270454.aspx
For terrain i would prefer a throne made of 200 swords.
Mantic terrain idea – a slain fantastical beast of some sort, lying on its side, with its guts hanging out.
Ideas for narratives this could be part of – maybe your party needs to recover the teeth of the beast to fashion magical arrowheads, or the heart of the monster to power a mighty spell. Or maybe you’re caught in the icy wastes and need to shelter in the monster’s entrails for warmth (ahem, empire strikes back). Or maybe an unknown beast has been terrorising the town, so a party has caught this creature and opened its stomach to see if it’s the one that’s been eating the locals (ahem, Jaws).
Terrain Create what about a nice stone circle like Stonehenge and possibly a small scale set can imagine them carved with runes tec
i’ll echo the statements of others, well done to GW for accepting a hand shake with a smile and even better from BOW for offering the hand shake in the first place.
amazing jam packed show but my favourite bit was undoubtedly the shrooms.
mantic were a giggle and I loved the dad joke.
Faith is now my third favourite thing in sci fi after STAR WARS rpg and infinity. stunning work from gameplay to visuals with real philosophical depth. best miniature Gen’Gala, I prefer lithe and sleek archetypes for my character and aliens when done right pull this off beautifully. special mention for Roadblock and remko for their dynamism and awesome execution of a fine alien concept in Roadblocks case.
Love the Faith Remko mini. Dynamic and no basing needed!
For the Mantic Terrain contest how about:
*A wizard’s telescope for studying the stars.
*An artist’s canvas and stand, also with the artist’s painting gear.
*A fruit stand with various fruits for the heroes to knock over in a chase scene.
*An orcish dartboard with a goblin tied to it.
*A wizard’s clothes rack with arcane robes, wizard hat and magical underpants.
*A steam powered coffee machine mounted on a cart. (Even heroes need their caffeine.)
*A musical organ, either for a church or a street festival.
*A fortune teller’s wagon.
*And this might be kind of big one, but what about hard plastic castle walls that can be combined to make buildings or dungeons? Like a fantasy version of the Battlezones terrain.
Great show. I’d like to see a few broken statues or heroic posed statues of other races (orcs, goblins etc) in those terrain crates… maybe an engineers work table.
For Faith the male raagg ; I love the cloak on the miniature. For Mantic; town fountains or town generic statues (knight, Dragon, mayor, etc.).
For Mantic… How about a blacksmithing stand, have a circular stone walled forge with bellow on the side, an anvil with hammer and pliers on it, then a pile of coal, wood, and scrap metal.
Happy Easter Weekend.
sorry lads, resin thunderhawk confirmed
another great episode. Love mantic’s idea on the terraincrate.
for salute – I want to see any and all terrain suppliers, particularly the little guys who dont always get noticed or any thing that would be appropriate for necromunda / shadow war armageddon
Guild Ball week? Great news, been itching to find out more about it… our gaming group interest in Dreadball and Xtreme has been going down…
Terrain Crate: i’ll be checking it out for sure and here’s my idea: a monstrous skeleton (dragon or other)! Like maybe as a floor “tile” with bones jutting out or as a cliff side view or maybe a giant ribcage coming out from the ground, classic looks!
Male raag all the way.
I hope to see moment that GW will sow up In river side Studio, this would be great direction to get me back to GW products,
Would love to see a clockwork convayour belt system. That could be used in a magic factory. Or a steam punk setting. You could put them together to make a whole belt sections
Faith; I like the Male Corvo best as he has some sort of mind reader or force using vibe going on,
Terrain Crate suggestions:
*scatter terrain: Wagons and carts, some upturned and used as barricades, some wrecked, including dead draft horses and -oxen.
*The Breeding Pits, where the urukhai or whatever pod people are hatched
*Traps! every and all kinds of physical dungeon traps from rolling rocks to spiky pits to mimics
*Giant spider’s lair with wrapped up victims and massive webs
I was wondering if I was going to get my Weekender fix this weekend and then this popped into my youtube feed. The Faith models look great. Is there news on when the battle analysis show is gonna be launched they announced last week? Can’t wait for the hobby time Vlog
Great show this weekend, packed full of awesome!
I’m keen to see the Guildball week. I always enjoyed Blood Bowl back in the day, but haven’t got back into it at all this time round.
The D&D minis look ok, good detail but damn – those mold lines!!
From FAITH I’d have to say that the male Raag “Roadblock” looks my favourite: he’s solid and tough looking but still has a sense of action/movement. I could easily find multiple uses for him.
For the terrain crate ideas: what about a large bonfire that could also be used as a pyre. As a bonfire we could have a group of monsters dancing around it, or the centre of a town celebration right before “the action” happens. As a pyre you could put an insert with a victim – a warlock or witch about to be burned at the stake or a heretic about to pay for their sins. As an aside, the “victim tied to stake” piece could then be used separately as “prisoner tied to post” or lay it horizontally across a couple of short upright posts and they are “person to be roasted over cooking fire for monster dinner”!
Terrain Crate Idea – A model planetarium that can either be placed on a table, plinth or other center piece. Would be great for a dungeon or inside of Wizards tower in a town.
Omg so many exciting things in this episode that made my wallet tremble in fear haha. Terrain crate looks like it’s gonna be awesome to add incidentals and other terrain elements to games like Kings of War, Wrath of Kings, Runewars, etc.
And as far as Faith is concerned, it’s a toss up between Yi Lee and Akraam. Both are dynamic in their own way. From what I read on the KS page, a fair bit of game play can take place in zero-g where Corvo excel, so her pose is supposed to indicate that I think. Plus, she’s firing her weapon, but still able to bring her foot up in a position for a melee strike as well…if if only I were that flexible lol. And Akraam just looks bad@$$. Like an alien high plains drifter on a space station overrun with trouble and he’s there to clean up….man I can’t wait for this KS to close and ship.
Happy Easter!
For Terrain Crate I would love to see a Golem Work Table or a Covered Wagon.
I love Anuka for the Faith Minis
Re te Mantic Terrain Crate Kickstarter, I’d just like to point out that gaming scenery pieces are now becoming a lot more accessible – I’ve personally backed a few on KS and seen many others go through that I didn’t jump in on. I’d strongly suggest to the team at Mantic to have stuff in your KS that is just a little bit different to what everyone else is doing and try to get people in through that point of differentiation. I’m not suggesting rolling out steampunk versions of everything or making the whole release ‘furniture for goblins!’ or anything but if you have a few standout key pieces that stand out and draw people in then people will be more likely to jump on board. For example, maybe a gnome tinkerers workshop, grindstone or a loom might be interesting, something a bit different from the standard issue anvil, wizards book and witches cauldron.
As far as slightly bigger pieces are concerned, I haven’t seen anyone produce rowboats yet, and there are more than enough game systems out there that could utilise. Best of luck with the KS!
For the terrain crate I’d love to be able have destroyed catapults and trebuchet.
Terrain Crate idea: Dungeon Kennels for dogs, caged monsters, prisoners etc. perhaps with a release hatch that could be opened with a lever to release the creature on unsuspecting heroes
really like the sculpts for the Faith minis, can think of quite a few games I can drop them into, as to the terrain crate don’t really game dark age/fantasy so i’d be more interested in modern terrain such as skips and other street furniture such as window and door shutters that can be added to buildings – both open & closed
I wonder if GW will ever resurrect Chainsaw Warrior in some form? The game wasn’t great, and hasn’t aged at all well, but the concept could make a great sci-fi ‘dungeon’ crawl.
The Faith miniature that’s looks most interesting to me is Vash’uh.
Those Mantic pieces will eke interesting objective markers. Think I’ll check it out when it launches (Must remember NOT to let the wife know!)
As for other models, broken down carts, street stalls, traps, e.g. acid, spikes, maybe a “pit and pendulum” swinging axe?
Interesting possibilities
For terrain, I would love to see wall structures, higher than barricades, containing openings that block line-of-sight in various ways. Imagine a modular stone wall set with missing stones in strategic places that act as a window, or maybe a wooden wall with openings that have partial wooden slats nailed or broken in various ways. The openings could vary in size, too. For a large enough opening, you could move figures through it and possibly place door structures in front of them to act as a hidden backdoor.
This would allow models to see each other through those openings, but only in specific angles and dimensions providing a unique gameplay experience you can design different for each game session. Honestly, you could do a lot with this idea.
For Mantic – I’m thinking a table holding assortment of cups, chalices etc. like the holy grail in Indiana Jones.
For Faith – Reemko, the male human figure is awesome. The pose with the custom base base is just cool.
For Mantic – I’m thinking several versions of the pillars you would see in a dungeon, very similar to the ones you see in LOTR in the great hall of the mines of moria. They don’t have to be full pillars they could be broken ones too. Make 3-4 of different height. Definitely make one or two of them relatively flat on top so you could perch a goblin on one. Heights could be from 6cm to 10cm to 13 cm and 15 cm. Square base for them about 5cms ea side. These could be used for both inside a dungeon and on the battlefield as an old ruined temple. I think you could sell these alone and they would go quickly in plastic. Ive seen some of these being done in plaster/resin by some guys but they are heavy, breakable and expensive. I can tell you I’d buy 50 to 60 of them to cover a dungeon or build a giant ruined temple!!!!
I would love to see a town that has its central fountain barricaded as a strongpoint for archers and spearmen, with sets of dead warriors, knight, archer and whatever else pieces that can be used to put around to either show a destroyed unit or if its an RPG can show the aftermath of an attacked town.
for Faith I liked the male human, he looks gruff but badass and exactly what you would expect of a surviver of the dieing human race.

Rock, Scissors, Wizards (I dont know if it the right name) was a interesting card game but with the miniatures. The loved/hated GW returns to contact with the community. I like it but is a shame they kill Warhammer.
Terrain crate idea – a huge gothic style Cathedral Organ with ornate pipework. It would really complete a gothic dungeon/church/cathedral/abbey. Love one for my D&D Curse of Strahd sets.
Mantic – I’d love to see room set pieces , so turning a room into a blacksmiths, seeing a forge, horseshoes to hang up, pile of swords and armour being made ready to be bought or looted.
It’s hard to find little things that add up to a bigger piece.
Faith – that male human pose is amazing, gives a proper sense of the dynamic rpg element that the game is going to bring into each encounter, love his wall running and shooting feel he gives off.
For Terrain Crate: A big town water fountain with trap door/secret entrance. Spike wall trap that closes like the trash compactor in Star Wars.
those faith minis look awesome. would love a chance to paint them up.
Looking forward to Salute. Even though I’ll be there, it would be nice if you can sneak some details out of Warlord’s plans for 2017.
Rock Paper Wizard has potential for all sorts of shenanigans. Imagine the offence that could be taken by a confused deaf onlooker? “Why was Justin proposing to Lloyd in round 1 whilst telling him to get knotted in round 2?” 🙂
FAITH – Card mechanics over dice always intrigues me even though it isn’t unheard of anymore. Roadblock the Raag looks really cool. The race look like underfed Krogans from Mass Effect and I think he would fit in with various games. (Rogue Stars, Star Saga?)
Terrain Crate – Mantic’s scenery pieces have always been cool and seem to compete with the games and miniatures for what is the coolest part of their latest venture.
I like the idea of a spawn point for zombies or skeletons. Perhaps a 3″ across circle with about 5 or 6 head stones on. There can either be skeletal or Zombie arms and heads coming out of the ground already, or spaces for you to use a Kings of War sprue to make your own bespoke spawn point.
I also like the idea of an objective marker that has optional 25mm round inserts. I think a broken down cart would be a cool feature, but with space in the cart for a pile of goods to collect and take away from the cart. I like the idea of options like a pile of arrow quivers, a pile of potion bottles or a pile of weapons and helmets on top of a shield.
Great show. Hopefully see some of you at Salute.
Terrain crate = Great Idea, and something I can see myself getting behind to fill out the dungeons, battlefields etc. Now onto the ideas :
– Prisoners/Captives – Knights, Maidens, Damsels, the stereotype of many fantasy adventures, somebody needs rescuing
– A Slave market – Could be any number of slaves, from any race Orc, Human or Elf to name but a few
– Sleeping Creatures – Goblins, Orcs or Ogres asleep. Could make things interesting if entering a room full of sleeping monsters and you have to get through without waking them.
– What I would also like to see, and related to already mentioned is maybe smaller packs that contain pieces to personalize the room to the race. For example we are getting a Wizard study/room, but this would be different for the race a Human wizard would have different things to an Orc Shaman or an Elf Wizard.
The male Raag is the best of the bunch of the Faith miniatures. Fantastic motion captured with that sculpt.
Water set for the Terrain Crate (which I will definitely be getting): Clear resin pools and streams with stone edges…maybe drains or emptying pools at the end. Some worked by hand, other, natural. Cast in such a way that the stone ledges can be painted, and the bottom of the resin can be tinted or silvered or otherwise painted. And of course, a set of tentacles lashing out with splashes of water forming a sturdy base so they can be set on the pools and blend in perfectly. And some crocodile/frog eyes…or something…peeking out of the depths.
Soooo tempted by Rune Wars!
Terrain Crate Terrain piece –
Steps leading up to a circular platform from 4 directions with runes embedded in the floor. As a town piece you could use it as a gallows (hangmans noose) or central town-cryer post (little tower). In the dungeon it could have an altar and be used in the final room.
The terrain piece that I would like to see is a large war table. The kind you see with the generals gathered around moving pieces and planning their attack. I think that it would lend itself to some interesting customization as you could print or paint your own map on it.
For the terrain, a half built Viking longship with tools and planks strewn about.
Hey guys, Good show and nice to see Rob on the show.
Suggestion for a terrain piece for a town: big fountain!
Often the centre piece of a town centre, there was one in my home town of Chesterfield when I was growing up, great local landmark.
Think it would look really great on a city board, would be flexible enough to work in different game systems from fantasy to WWII to modern. Resin would be a great material to bring out some nice stonework detail too.
How about a firebrigade bucket stand as terrain piece.
For the FAITH mini’s I agree with Justin that Remko(the human male) is the coolest figure.
Also for the somewhat weird poses they treid to convey low to 0 gravity envirements as spaceships and station don’t have artificial gravity.
Terrain Crate Ideas:
1) Ornate Sarcophagus with removeable lid big enough o fit a skeleton mini inside
2) Alter of Sacrifice!
For terrain pieces I’d like to see a torture chamber with shackles along the wall and all the devices you see in fantasy movies, torture rack, iron maiden, The one that crushes feet, etc have some starved figures as optional pieces for the dungeon to have stretched out on the tables or hanging from the shackles.
For Faith character Remko is my favourite simply because the sculpt is gorgeous has a dynamic pose and is very detailed
It would be cool to see some sci fi cryogenic and med lab scenery pieces from mantic
I would love to see some battlefield terrain such as commanders tents with tables with maps and counters like that awesome one in game of thrones with the big wooden pieces. Also the tent should have furnishings that a general would have like weapons and treasure. It would be a good objective piece. Also a medics tent with an operating table with medieval doctors tools and piles of limbs.
Great show as usual. Really liking the more community focused approached to GW
Mantic Games – great idea even if I am still painting the dungeon Saga items… Definitely more for a KoW tables like the already mentioned stone walls, timber fences etc, if a fire what about a wood pile with chopping block and axe.
Trees of different types – yes I know thes are available – but ones that will withstand a hammer blow – would be very useful!!
If we are in the woods what about a charcoal burners Hut with charcoal pile and smoking charcoal heap
Hovels, small. Lots of buildings are available but usually large and not the sort you might find on a battlefield..
giant rats, spiders, bats etc in hard plastic (the current resin ones look great, but – especially the bats – are fragile.
cobblestone roads, tracks through forest, road sign posts, and waystones
large outdoor bakers oven
There is no weekender this weekend so watching last weekends 🙂
I agree with Justin, the human male for Faith is the best. The pose along with the base does it.
They should add a full-size mirror that could be painted as a gateway to the terrain crate.
Mantic terrain: pieces to make up a dragon’s den, worth lots of gold, treasures, dead bodies of failed raiders amongst the dungeon walls and stalagmites. Multiple pieces that cam be arranged any way the players want to fit their dungeon space and needs.
Faith favorites are Remko and Yi Lee. I like them because they are such dynamic poses!
I’m sure i’m not the only one, but for Terrain Crate: a sweet Fountain with clear plastic ‘water’ spouting from the top of the fountain.. or from a creepy face or two or three… would be very cool…
For dungeon style terrain what about
a) jail cells / cages perhaps with working doors. Open at the top for moving minis etc.
b) a treasure vault. based on a modern day bank safety deposit box vault but fantasy style. Chests, racks of secure coffers. magical and non-magical locks. Obviously include the magical vault style door.
c) bunks and foot lockers for the barrack room set up
d) wall hangings and tapestries (free standing obviously)
I hope the terrain crate has a ton of stuff worth using in Conan.
Like the idea of Terrain Crate, want to see more sci-fi though
I dont know if has been requested, but I’d love to see a room for ritual sacrifices. An altar in the middle, fire basins around it. Maybe blood goblets, knifes and skulls laying around.
Great show guys
Another idea for terrain would be a treehouse! Inspired by Warrens dungeon crawling family, that party needs a place to sleep! A huge oaktree, a treehouse at the top, ladder to get up etc. Maybe even a removable roof, so you can put models inside!
Would also be awesome with stuff for a village, so you can create for example a blacksmith, woodworker, tavern etc.
thought of another terrain item large walk up blood alter with blow and stones apartly around it like a viking blood offering stone
With regards to the terrain rate – how about a pool that can form basis for a number of Dungeon adventures. Monsters or treasure!
theres a few things that ide like to see/use for a fantasy setting that could be cool in the terrain crate
– wizards summoning circle/pit with enchanting tables, crystal holders
– a surgeons table, that maybe has shackles to hold the patient down, and you could also include the trolley containing the surgeons tools
– a wagon or cart that could have a variety of cargos, maybe some dead bodies, supplies such as food and water, or maybe even weapons stacked in the back. It could include options to be standalone or could also have a horse in front of it with a driver
– a large dining table (kind of thing that would be a nobles house for parties) complete with plates, serving dishes
– sets of stairs, straight, spiral, curved, cornered, that could be used to link dungeon saga maps together (so would need the tops of stairs as well resembling steps that go down) these could also be placed in buildings.
– animal/prisoner cages
wish i could think of more, but i think im done 😛 looking forward to hearing more about Terrain Crate
Yi Kee is my fav Faith mini. For Terrain Crate I’d love some levitating / flying platforms.
For Terrain Crate: dockyard equipment for my pirates
For Faith: Gen’gala
Akram looks interesting in the FAITH set. I’d also like some companion animals for the Terrain Crate, I know they are not items, but there are already animals in it.
For TerrainCrate I’d like street stuff, like lamps, doors.
From the Faith set, I prefer Remko.
Skid is my fav mini. Would be cool to get some portable equipment in TerrainCrate like flags and torches.
I find Remko the best.
TerrainCrate could include more chairs and furniture.
Mt idea for the terrain crate is a Market Traders selling there wares complete with barrows, market stalls with swapable goods. The stalls can be of different sizes and shapes, with covers and without. Goods can be, loaves, food, fish, vegetable, sides of meat, dead animals from rabbits and birds right up to cows, pigs and even bigger. Also you can add side stalls sell cooked food, roasted meats, chestnuts, meat of a stick. To add more favour rats, cats, dogs and other animals can be added too
For Faith I like Yi Lee’s sculpt the best.
Roadblock looks great!
TerrainCrate: treasure chests, that can be opened, with additional tresure / traps add-ins. Like the barrels in Dreadball Xtreme
Gen’gal rox, it’s a nice figure. Terraincrate could use more crate. More kinds, with different goods.
