Sneak Peek! More For Modiphius’ DOOM | Arena Board Game

Modiphius has been previewing more of their Kickstarter project, which will bring both retro DOOM and modern DOOM to the tabletop with a brand-new board game.

DOOM | Arena Board Game is a PvP miniatures board game for two to four players, where one person takes on the role of the Doom Slayer, who then has to battle three opponents who command the hordes of Hell. The team at Modiphius has likened it to heavy metal chess, where strategic movement is just as important as bloodthirsty violence.

DOOM | Arena Board Game will come in two flavours. You can either go Classic or with a version that matches the latest The Dark Ages instalment in the series. Both feature miniatures and a design that fits the aesthetic of DOOM from that era.

The version above has been styled to match the classic DOOM from 1913. Everything is lavishly adorned with pixel art and the mighty DOOM Guy will have to face down endless hordes of demons, Imps, Lost Souls, Barons of Hell and even the Spider Mastermind.

You could also go with the DOOM: The Dark Ages variant of the game, which matches the newest chapter for the Doom Slayer. See him battle a new version of the Imps but also Manucubi, Hell Knights, and even the gargantuan Titans.

As much as I like the idea of the figures for DOOM: The Dark Ages, I think I prefer the retro style of the 1993 version! Classic Doom Guy with some classic music playing in the background sounds like a hoot.
