Happy Weekend!!
So if you go to the Hobby Weekend you will get a load of GUF, gourmet Ulster food.
There is an ample supply of GUF at Riverhorse every day 😉
We spread it via the Weekenders lol
And there is fruit 🙂
Musnt forget the bards bollocks
Buenos días from sunny Spain 🙂
What about ye! From the rainy northwest of Ulster 😉
Great show as always!! @warzan you should challenge Sam with a tabletop campaign so we can see how a video gamer adapts to the table top.
I have to say Ben’s face was priceless! Great job at holding laughter in lol
Have a great weekend!
That’s a cracking idea! I may just challenge him to runewars!
I would love to watch you both playing Runewars!
Both @darkiss and I play video games as well. We end up getting loads of great terrain ideas from video games. We end up with loads of screenshots to use as reference. We have a few pieces that we created from video game inspiration 🙂
It’s the Weekend!! Arewecsure about that?
Aaaargh – hurry up with that edit comments feature!
Happy weekender chaps
Just a suggestion for the ultra sonic cleaner I use a 50/50 mix of non ammonia window cleaner in OZ its windex but what ever is the cheapest is what I go for. Also if you leave paint in it for long enough I always go for the good rinse thru with the lacquer thinners to loosen it up then go with the ultra sonic cleaner. The best bet is to always disassemble your airbrush at the end of the day / painting session and put it in the cleaner. Then it is always clean for your next go at painting. As Warren says with Justin when he’s right he’s right.
Sorry to hear the reaction you got on the scale modelling forums
The hobby weekend is sounding more and more epic! Airbrushes! 3d printing! I can’t wait 🙂
Happy Weekend , Made me chuckle about the drinking game Warren. You think your paranoid now just wait until after the FoW Boot Camp.
I think one of the White ScarS must have heard your idea for the mat and decided that the Eldar can keep the artefact, as was heading back home.
The cleaning conversation was only missing some purple paint on the tip and poor Bens head may have exploded hehe.
Exactly what I was going to say about the White Scar. What a coward!
He forgot to turn the stove off is all 🙂
8 month year old daughter strangely fascinated by Warren meets mat.
Good show guys.
How Warren kept a straight face talking about lubes and points I don’t know
I also have a small ultrasonic cleaner, which was originally purchased for the purpose of speeding up the paint stripping process. Even with dettol I would usually need to do 20-30 5 minute cycles over a couple of days to loosen the paint (and I still had to attack it with an old toothbrush) but the final results were satisfactory. Of couse, it is possible I would have gotten the same result if I soaked it in dettol without the ultrasonic cleaner…
..never the less, I have heard that IPA is the best solution to put into the ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning an airbrush, and perhaps stripping minis too.
My Missus says this is a waste of beer !!!
DOH
Jeebus a Weekender drinking game? Every time Warren makes a thinly-veiled innuendo, take a shot! We’d die!
Good job it’s morning. I’ll have a gulp of tea instead.
That mat is epic
I know what you mean about video games. I used to play shooters but with not having a lot of time playing you see the other players just kicking your ass. Now I almost only play strategy games or shooters in campaign mode.
I agree Total War: Warhammer is harder than the others but I find it better because every race plays and feels different.
Thanks guys for the sonic cleaner info, great tips.
+1 on the Sonic cleaner info!
@Warren — In regards to video games, there are slower tactical games like XCOM which are turn based versus real-time. You can still be a tabletop general via turn based games and there are tons of turn based games. I would recommend XCOM and Battletech which will be released in May 2017
What happen to the freshwater challange? did i miss it and what the next ?
We’re working on it, don’t worry we haven’t forgotten.
This is my favorite time of the week…well, honestly XLBS weekender is…okay then, this is my second favorite time of the week. So much entertainment and good stuff. And I always walk away having learned something new, I really didn’t know I needed to know :p
Great show again – i can`t wait for tomorrow
If you really want to get into Total War Warhammer – this month at the humble bundle monthly its only 12 Dollars for it. You allways can cancel your subscription after getting the key for steam.

Happy Weekend!
The hobby bootcamp sounds great, my mates and I used to do similar in our misguided youth. Usually with an anime on in the background, working together on individual projects.
an other cracking show. see you tomorrow at the XL BS
Please, PLEASE. Where did you guys get that four legged shark miniature?!?!
For ultrasonic cleaner, water and som window cleaner
DON´T use bathroom cleaner, it will gummy the paint
Ben’s reactions had me dying. Lol.
Yet another mind blowing show, we have Warren getting it on with another rubber mat. Then it`s John getting to play with Justin`s tool. Then both of them playing with Warren`s tool, next it`ll be all three of them wanting to play with Ben`s tool or it may even be Lance`s tool.
Loving the latest mat, but then again all the mat`s to date have been brilliant. One thing about some of the mat`s i`ve often wondered about is this……………..the structures on them look very nice, but what would they look like if the structures where 3D. Now IMHO i think they would make for a great looking board, and if i had one i`d go for it, but alas i don`t.
Liking the Judgement KS, the figure`s are awesome. Will look in to this before it ends.
Another great show, I like what you are doing with the tool segment.
Im only ten minutes in and have to pause to comment, and from previous videos its been said but I only noticed at the oddest of times.
In a previous video @warzan was on about losing weight from power walking in the neighborhood and listening to some good tunes and really getting into it.
As an avid weekender viewer, I’ve noticed moreso the weight loss from him gyrating around the imaginary stripper poll at 10:18 – 10:23 (or possibly a rolled up mat) than from sitting at the table… so, kudos sir!
@warzan Xcom is an amazing game! I’ve spent years dreaming of playing it on the tabletop, it is that suitable for transferring. Xcom 2 is the same in that respect, but has playability problems.
I have to add that the original Rainbow 6 games, and expansions, were a lot better than the Vegas ones for strategic play. The previous Rainbows had a strategic section where you could plan out what your individual teams did during the combat section, while Vegas just focused on the FPS combat section with a single team. Vegas was basically console-ised.
Poor Ben! It’s near impossible to tell if those two are doing it on purpose or not anymore they’ve gotten so good at it.
In regards to video games and tabletop games I’d say it’s not so much a Venn diagram Warren as it is peanut butter and chocolate or perhaps peanut butter and jelly (or whatever peanut butter based metaphor floats your boat). If you have a decent PC you can just wait for a sale on Steam or GOG and get a bunch of different kinds of games for dead cheap to see if any genre or series does it for you. And I will third the recommendation of the XCOM series, that one seems ready made for war gamers plus you can snag the old originals for next to nothing…so that you can realize how much of a necessity being able to rotate the camera is once you don’t have it.
Happy weekend!
OMG, @brennon thoughts appeared again on screen LoL! This weeks tool was not for me but always usefull to know.
See you tomorow
Well I’ve definitely found that if I twist the back end the tension does increase dramatically…
Well, with this game mat, you can have Mustafar battles for Star Wars X-Wing or Imperial Assualt! Add in Vader’s castle from Rogue One, or an Imperial base and go to town.
It seems Ben had a bit of a hard time in the end.
Haha! Poor Ben! Remove the headphone plug Ben, remove the headphone plug!
Aw @warzan, I looking forward even more to tomorrow’s episode to hear that story! Great stuff! 🙂
*I’m… lol
you will probably need the mat for 40K @warzan as the chaos forces move from Cadian system more planets will be corrupted/fusion bombed to hell so will be the condition many worlds.
Good to see the return of the Breaking Ben segment. 🙂
personally I think the cleaner looks a waste would be better of with a old ice clean tub with gun cleaner to bath the gun in.
? ice clean tub was ment to be ice cream tub.
Happy weekend guys
a great show guys.
Brill show lads..see ya tomorrow…
Do it Live @warzan !! @dygnity nice to see your beard growing back !
Great show gents.
I have warhammer total war and love it.
I usually play as dwarves. It really is tough. You feel like all is going well and then a green horde appears with none of your main forces near them. I can’t see how any one completes all their objectives on the highest difficulty settings. Hours of fun to be had though and you don’t need lightening reflexes to win battles.
I never played warhammer fantasy so I’m not sure how it translates. I have almost all the previous Total War games and know that Warhammer Total War is probably my favourite.
I started a RuneWars first impressions thread under the fantasy forum pages. Would love to hear people’s first impressions and I’ll give a thorough update after getting to grips with RuneWars at the hobby weekend.
So glad I got a ticket and really looking forward to it.
Finally getting a day off work soon so want to get some painting done. Need to get myself back into saddle and share some WIP on the WAYPN page again.
Is it just me, or are some people posting “WIP” pieces that look finished to me because they are finished. They put WIP because they’re worried about “Withering Insults Pending”?
This is a really forgiving and supportive community for painters, especially the WAYPN page. People post whatever they want, at any stage of the project and I have not seen anyone ridiculed yet. If you haven’t shared anything yet please do so, because I found it helped get motivated to paint more and I hope it does the same for you.
See you all Sunday.
Tears are rolling down my face after the Johns tool segment.
Great show guys.
I have been using the Alclad 2 paints for the last few weeks.
This is an enamel range rather than acrylic, however the airbrush cleaner from that range removed all the acrylic residue that had built up over the last year that the Vallejo airbrush cleaner wasn’t shifting. This was cleaned up just (more or less) by just running it through as did a colour change.
You’ll need a decent spray mask (think mine was £16, from 3m)for this as it gives off fumes that you don’t want to breath in, I’m also using a portable spray booth ( think this was £60) that vents out of the window. I’ve been using it over the kitchen draining board(that is the both is placed on the kitchen draining board), with it venting out the kitchen window.
Paint drying and clogging the airbrush isn’t a huge issue when working with the alclad enamels as it doesn’t dry as you are painting in the same way that acrylics do.
Wargamers tending to use acrylics vs scale modellers probably using a lot more enamels is probably the reason for the difference in the advice you saw on the forums.
That Wrath of Kings starter set looks sweet!
You had me interested in the hobby weekend with the realisation I could go to NI and not see the in laws… shame I’m busy that weekend.
Good one! Hope you guys give historicals a bit more attention in the future on the regular weekender! 🙂
another great show mates, a pity Im in aus because those bootcamps sound like such great fun!
You guys cost me so much money, I am always inspired by the things you talk about.
Thanks for all the work you do.
Warhammer total war is the best of the series, empire close second. slitherine games and matrix games do some really good turn based strategy games. order of battle:ww2 and battle academy are good challageing games and panzer corps is a update of the old commadore/amiga wargames titles. Just bought warhammer 40k sanctus reach of steam not sure how differant it is to the minature game but really enjoying it.
Happy Weekend 🙂
Superlube? Omg Amateurs 😀 lol
Well, you guys managed to get me to break out my ultrasonic.
Tried your liquid recipe and ran it a fair few times, including an overnight soak.
I guess it’s cleaner… probably… I definitely did have muck floating around in the water, so presumably, that’s stuff that is no longer stuck to my airbrush!
I might see if I can be disciplined enough to incorporate an ultrasonic clean into my normal routine and see if it helps.
I wish I was in the UK so that I could go to this. I really look forward to see what you build on the 3d printer. Hopefully you will post the files of what you make so the rest of us can print it at home.
@dignity
Ditch the ultrasonic cleaner 🙂
Pot of Vallejo airbrush cleaner and a set of these and job done
http://www.snmstuff.co.uk/product/5-cleaning-brush-set/
fun weekender as always. Every time warren meets mat comes on and I dont have headphones it sounds like i’m watching some old school you know what
Disappointed by John’s tool. Especially as you had to hold it up for so long!
Hey Warren! Please try Hearts of Iron 4 or Stellaris! Those two are sandbox-y but I bet you’d have lots of fun tinkering with them!
Stellaris probably is the more accessible!
I wish I had a Windows computer, they are taking forever on porting Total War Warhammer to Mac 🙁
