Empire Of Dust by phoenixman

We start off this week's Community Spotlight with phoenixman who has been working on building up an Empire Of Dust army for use in Mantic Games' Kings Of War. Some of the miniatures have come from the Mantic range but the vast majority have been 3D Printed and they look great.

Empire Of Dust #1 by phoenixman

One of the things that I really liked about this particular army was the addition of the Anubis-style warriors. It puts me in mind of the armies that you might have seen in the likes of The Scorpion King and The Mummy. I think the black works exceptionally well as a contrast to the gold and red.

Empire Of Dust #3 by phoenixman

This works really well across the larger miniatures and the smaller ones. I think it also works well that the miniatures are based on those sandy, rocky bases. Going with the bigger miniatures also works well to make sure your army is dominating when it lands on the tabletop, looming over the other troops that you're arrayed against.

Empire Of Dust #2 by phoenixman

As you can see, the army has been done and dusted in short order. You can get some better shots of the army as a whole over on the project and it's neat to see a Kings Of War army making use of the advent of 3D Printing. It should also stand out nicely from the other Empire Of Dust armies that appear on tabletops for Kings Of War.

Bot War COILS by artemis5150

We then move on to some epic Bot War goodness. artemis5150 has been working away on some of the COILS for use in this 10mm Sci-Fi wargame. These have been painted up in the same way as they were for Traders Galaxy but these are going to be making a name for themselves on artemis5150's own battlefields.

COILS #1 by artemis5150

The black looks superb here and all of that very patient highlighting that has then gone into the panels. You've also got some neat, poppy colours that have been used to draw the eye. The red and the purple looks lovely.

COILS #2 by artemis5150

It seems like the COILS have done really well in their recent games and so that's probably why they have ended up putting so much love and attention into them. I jest of course but it's nice when your well painted toys do well on the tabletop.

COILS #3 by artemis5150

When all of the miniatures are together, they are simply lovely. I really like the poppy colours on the smaller miniatures as well with those pinks, purples and greens. It means that an evil force, whilst mostly black, looks really tempting. I also like the nice 3D-printed cacti that have been thrown into the mix as well. An amazing set of miniatures that are getting me eager to dive into Bot War.

Judge Dredd by hutch

Last but not least, we've had a look at the work of hutch who is ticking all of the boxes when it comes to Judge Dredd. They have been enjoying the 2000AD world for a while and so have started bringing together their stories into a series of project entries. The first one is very inspiring.

Judge Dredd #1 by hutch

The first thing that struck me about this is just how in-depth the tabletops are for telling these Judge Dredd stories. Miniatures and terrain have come from everywhere and they work nicely when it comes to bringing Mega-City One to life. It certainly suits the world of Judge Dredd where anything is really possible.

Judge Dredd #2 by hutch

This then breaks down into a much larger project where we see how the fortunes of the Judges of Mega-City One turn on a dime during a regular day in the city. Strange Cabal members have been playing around with strange, demonic forces, whilst a Skysurfer zooms through the streets.

Judge Dredd #3 by hutch

There are loads of fun ideas for you to dive into when it comes to Judge Dredd and if the setup for all of your games is anything like this, I think you're in for a great treat. It's great to see these poppy and very colourful miniatures for this grim world coming together in such fine form!
