Germans In East Africa by blipvertus

We start off this week's Community Spotlight by diving into a hit of Historical wargaming and exploring a theatre of war that doesn't often get looked at. blipvertus has been building up armies and terrain covering the Germans in East Africa during World War I.

The miniatures that have been picked for this particular venture have come from all over the place. There are some neat Pulp Figures additions in this collection alongside metal miniatures from Askari Miniatures and Brigade Games to name but a few.

What's fascinating about this project is that it is also a history lesson as well as battle reports, painting showcases and also terrain building. They have dived into quite a lot of depths about why they have chosen particular miniatures and why they have painted them. This is all being focused around Blood & Valor and drawing us deeper into the obscure.

The battle reports have all been put together really nicely and I like that there is a good selection of different images from various stages. They give you a good idea of the type of battles being fought, where they are being fought and why.

A bonus has also been that blipvertus has also been showing off how to build some of the jungle terrain that has been used in their games.

A lot of rather awesome planets have been snapped up and mixed with a bit of hobby paraphernalia in order to create some neat terrain. It's simple but it does the job really well and works nicely as area terrain as well as full cover. It also bulks out the tabletop and gives it a bit of character which is always important.

SAGA Late Romans by warhammergrimace

Next up, we're moving to the Age Of Invasion and some SAGA. warhammergrimace's awesome Late Romans have been coming together over the last little while and I was really struck by the nice painting on these.

Late Romans #1 by warhammergrimace

The chainmail that feels linked intrinsically to the Dark Age is mixed with some great blues, reds and whites which help to make these miniatures pop. I have always liked the way Romans look and I think that's certainly the case here with these Late Roman warriors.

Things also get cool with more of the miniatures that got painted up recently including the rubble-style bases that they have gone for here. When darkened down and with a bit of flock here and there, they look fantastic.

warhammergrimace is also taking a bit of a holistic approach to this collection and also working on some neat terrain to go alongside it. This shrine for example is a neat little bonus piece that adds some more of that character to the tabletop.

I actually really like the skeleton in the foreground even if that doesn't really need to be there! I think this would be a brilliant place to fight over, perhaps as an objective in your games. Maybe an offering has been made but some dirty Saxons are looking to pilfer from it!

Warconsole Wizardry by nakchak

Last but not least, we have something a bit different. nakchak works behind the scenes and keeps the code running on OnTableTop and beyond. He is also responsible for getting the Warconsole up and running alongside Lloyd and Tom. So, we wanted to give him a Golden Button for all of the work he does to keep things on an even keel!

Durgama Takeover Main Page by nakchak

I think you'll agree at the Warconsole looks pretty snazzy and it's good to have someone like nakchak on hand for when the OnTableTop site starts to fall over as well! A lot of that wizardry comes from him and so it's worth a little acknowledgement we reckon!

Durgama Takeover News by nakchak

What would be nice is if you wanted to get involved and try out the campaign! A lot of hard work went into this and so if you're an Infinity player, it might be worth diving in and giving it a go, tinkering with all of the widgets and things in the background.

So, nakchak comes in with a Golden Button for this week and gets our thanks for all of the stuff he does in the background to help the community!
