Samurai by miniaturebrushwork

We start off this week with a peek at what miniaturebrushwork has been up to. They have been clearing up the pile of potential and that means working on some 15mm Samurai that can be used in a variety of different games.

Samurai #1 by miniaturebrushwork

Plenty of awesome games have been focused on the Samurai recently and I think it's neat to see some of the 15mm offerings out there. I like that you've got a bunch of them looking martial and deadly and then someone looking utterly psychotic! There are a lot of heads on spikes and swords here.

I really like the red which is one of the colours that immediately comes to mind with the Samurai and I think it works really well with the basing material as well.

Samurai #2 by miniaturebrushwork

As well as working on the Samurai, there are also a lot of Ashigaru that are getting thrown into the painting pot as well. You have some here armed with Yari, getting ready to rank up and take down cavalry. You also have some armed with Teppou as you can see below.

Samurai #3 by miniaturebrushwork

Speedpaint has been the way forwards with these miniatures and they really do seem to do the trick. These smaller miniatures pop with the use of something more akin to a wash than normal paint. I think it works its way into the details a lot easier.

I can't wait to see where these miniatures go in the future and what additional details get thrown into the mix as this little force grows and develops

Elder Scrolls: Call To Arms Dragon by balthazaar

We move from the very small to the very big. Here we have the work of balthazaar who has been working on this mighty Mirmulnir from The Elder Scrolls: Call To Arms.

Mirmulnir #1 by balthazaar

I am a massive fan of dragons so I had to pick this one out from the projects to talk about. This miniature has been through the wringer a bit but has now been finished off using the Duncan Rhodes tutorial on the miniature.

Mirmulnir #2 by balthazaar

I think the miniature looks great and I like all of the detail that has gone into the scales and the skin. Bonus Dragon Face Incoming!

I think it pops really nicely and gets across that look of the dragon from the video game accurately. A little bit of work could be done to the wing membrane as balthazaar has said but I think this looks great.

Mirmulnir #3 by balthazaar

I am sort of hoping that balthazaar can get a proper photo of the head as I want to see those big scary teeth! An awesome dragon and one that would be impressive to fight on the tabletop.

BattleTech by lenthalas

Last but not least, we're turning our attention to another favourite of the OnTableTop crew. Here we have lenthalas and their work on some epic BattleTech miniatures.

BattleTech #1 by lenthalas

I'm sure John would love to see these on the tabletop. I think the schemes here look awesome and get across a much more deadly and dangerous vibe than I've normally seen. I think the photography also helps with that.

There is something to be said for the black/grey scheme on the Mechs but I think they also get that little bit of oomph from the addition of the red accents and the use of the bright blue cockpits.

BattleTech #2 by lenthalas

The miniatures work really nicely and all feel very "elite". There are a few more of these to check out over on the link above, giving you an idea of how this scheme works on different Mechs.

BattleTech #3 by lenthalas

It is always fun seeing BattleTech miniatures and I hope that we'll get more from lenthalas in the near future. Hey, maybe we'll even see a Battle Report!
