Star Wars: Legion Separatists by biggrim

We start this week's Community Spotlight by diving into some of the work by biggrim. They thought that they were going to be leaving the world of Star Wars: Legion but were dragged right back in with a large Separatist army from the Clone Wars period. It is looking snazzy.

Star Wars Separatists #1 by biggrim

This is quite the impressive collection of Sith, Jedi Hunters and Droids. Whilst I do like the Rebels when it comes to Star Wars, I am very much drawn to the Droids of The Clone Wars mainly because I think they are great fun to paint. As you can see, you can have a lot of fun with them!

Star Wars Separatists #2 by biggrim

There are some great-looking squads that came together really nicely in around six weeks it seems! More has been done in the last six weeks of this project than in the last couple of years and I love it when inspiration strikes and gets people interested in painting and gaming with a range.

Star Wars Separatists #3 by biggrim

This is really awesome to see and I think that biggrim has done a superb job on the range as a whole. I really like all of the additional squad colours on the Droids so that you can tell them apart when they are on the tabletop. You've also got that amazing red that pops on the Droideka and STAP at the back of the army. The chrome on the Super Battle Droids is also amazing.

A solid Star Wars army and one that I am happy to see pop up in the projects. It reminds me that when inspiration strikes, snatch it and run with it. You can get a lot done and have fun at the same time.

The Barons' War by panzerkaput

Next up, we're looking to the expansive The Barons' War project by panzerkaput. They have become somewhat besotted with this range and the project has grown and grown over the last while. There have been some fantastic additions to the collection recently including some miniatures with a bit of freehanding!

The Barons War #1 AUG by panzerkaput

We've already given a Golden Button to panzerkaput for their work on The Barons' War range but you can probably guess why we're returning to it. I absolutely love the different colours that you can explore for your knights and their followers on the tabletop. It also allows you to do some experiments and explore freehanding as you see in the image above!

The Barons War #2 AUG by panzerkaput

The awesome thing about the collection that panzerkaput has been working on is that the miniatures are always photographed very nicely and you get to see how the miniatures would look when placed on the battlefield. There is always a nice bit of descriptive text surrounding the miniatures as well, explaining how they fit into the collection as a whole.

The Barons War #3 AUG by panzerkaput

There are also some videos that have been recently added into the mix for this project as well. I really like this as it offers up another way for folks to get engaged with the project and explore how they might approach painting their own miniatures.

Interestingly, I think this might possibly be the most comprehensive The Barons' War collection (at least when photographed) on the internet. With that in mind, it's worth delving in if you've been tempted by this awesome Medieval skirmish wargame.

The Democracy by artemis5150

Last but not least, we're looking at some of the work by artemis5150 who has been exploring a range of miniatures from Traders Galaxy that aren't 10mm Bot War miniatures. Here we have some of the awesome 80s-styled 30mm miniatures for the Democracy.

Democracy #1 by artemis5150

They have been commissioned to paint the whole of the miniatures line-up so far and this is just one of the factions. They have started to document the progress on these miniatures over on their project and they have been coming together very nicely indeed.

Democracy #2 by artemis5150

What's nice about these miniatures is that they have a lot of real-world design elements to them so that you can dive in and put together interesting schemes. You then take things to the next level once you start to tinker with the Sci-Fi elements.

Democracy #3 by artemis5150

As you can see, the miniatures are looking pretty spectacular. I really like the fellow on the far left and the chap at the back with the fun motorcycle leathers. I think the black and the yellow look awesome and give things that proper retro feel.
