Colin Patten has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for Ragnarok Miniatures with a range of casualties and markers for Dark Age gaming.

Colin apparently got distracted by what he would use for fatigue markers in SAGA, and the result was this delightful little campaign. Containing sixteen casualties and a set of helmets and crows.

The casualties are made up of eight dead and eight wounded Vikings that come with separate shields and a set of random weapons to dress the bases. For massed battle games that use multi basing these are particularly useful for slipping into your shield wall units, to add that extra bit of realism.

A set of 12 Dark age helmets including, Vendel, Coppergate, Gjermundbu, Olmutz, and Wenceslas types.  While you can use these as dressing on bases or terrain as you can see below popping them onto a base works very well if you plan on using them as fatigue markers in SAGA.

Next up is a set of 16 raven/crow fatigue markers/scenic scatter.  These look great when based with a few static grass tufts added, or if you want a more macabre look to your casualties a murder of crows pecking at the dead.

Colin has mentioned that his next body of work is going to be a large Viking force, so if you're interested in picking these up as headstart on a larger force or just grabbing them for markers in game then the Kickstarter is live now.

Personally, I love the look of these to use not only in SAGA but also as tokens in other games, like Shieldwall or the Feast of Crows. They're more interesting than just having flat tokens behind your units and I enjoy the spectacle.

Colin has done a fantastic job as always and the vikings look amazing, the group shot he has made showing them arrayed in disarray looks incredibly thematic and could be the very end of a party of raiders about to be finished off or the last stand of Harald the last Viking. What do you think?
