New Daemons, World Eaters & More Revealed For Warhammer 40K

November 21, 2022 by brennon

Games Workshop dropped some hefty reveals over the weekend for Warhammer 40,000. There was a distinct focus on the forces of Chaos which seems apt since we've been thinking Astra Militarum for the last while. We got a good look at some more elite units for the World Eaters of the Chaos Space Marines.

The Eightbound #1 - Warhammer 40000

The first of the new miniatures that we had a look at were for The Eightbound. These are the most brutal and bloodthirsty of the World Eaters (if such a thing could exist). They are Space Marines that are locked within a casket while eight daemons are forced into their bodies. If they can master these daemons then they turn into The Eightbound, mighty warriors harnessing the power of their new "partners". If they fail, they are warped and twisted into Spawn and simply unleashed on the battlefield to die in a flurry of blood and bones.

The Eightbound #2 - Warhammer 40000

The Eightbound // Warhammer 40,000

The Eightbound certainly drive home the idea of how absolutely berserk the World Eaters are as a faction. I really like the idea and I think its neat to see more unique units coming out for the World Eaters and followers of Khorne in general rather than just the Khorne Berserkers.

If an Eightbound is able to come to a "happy" equilibrium with their seven new friends then they can even become one of the Exalted.

Exalted Eightbound - Warhammer 40000

Exalted Eightbound // Warhammer 40,000

Much like a standard Possessed, the Exalted Eightbound is able to draw on more of the daemonic power of their companions and use that to great effect on the battlefield. As you can see, they have all sorts of additional claws and teeth to rend, rip and tear alongside the regular blades.

Bloodthirsty Cultists

The Cultits of the World Eaters are also getting a big update. You are going to be able to pick up the Jakhals who are blood-crazed followers of the Blood God that throw themselves in the way of oncoming fire when the World Eaters hit the battlefield. Every skull is a win for Khorne.

World Eaters Jakhals #1 - Warhammer 40000

The Jakhals obviously don't worry with the idea of ranged weapons and carry an array of melee weapons into the midst of the fighting. On their backs, you'll notice tubes that are packed full of chemicals that psych them up and get them ready to fight. There is also a single drop of World Eater Space Marine blood mixed in with each concoction, offering them a small amount of the powet their overlords have.

World Eaters Jakhals #2 - Warhammer 40000

World Eaters Jakhals // Warhammer 40,000

As Games Workshop themselves said about these miniatures, they are probably just going to stand in the way and eat ranged firepower from your enemies until your World Eaters can get into combat. BUT, I wouldn't underestimate them. If they get into the fighting, they could swamp an enemy unit and cut it to pieces before they can come up with an escape plan.

It's also just nice to have more Cultists in different styles so that they match up to the different Legions. Cultists are awesome and it's about time that they got more of a look in when it come to building big Chaos armies.

Codex: World Eaters // Warhammer 40,000

I was talking with some friends over the weekend and I was so taken by the look of the World Eaters here that it would be great to make an army of them. I'd love to do them in a black and white paint scheme (so proper Sin City/Noir) and then splatter them with blood and give them glowing red eyes!

The Codex and the rest of the miniatures for the World Eaters will be coming to a tabletop near you soon for Warhammer 40,000.

The Arks Of Omen

The coming of the World Eaters also means that the Arks Of Omen campaign/storyling is going to be kicking off soon for Warhammer 40,000.

Arks Of Omen Campaign - Warhammer 40000

Arks Of Omen Campaign // Warhammer 40,000

Four books are planned to be released over the Winter and Spring of 2022 and 2023 and will focus on telling the big new story for Warhammer 40,000. One would assume this is going to be herald some BIG changes in the grimdark future and the potential of that 10th Edition drop in the summer of 2023.

Arks Of Omen focuses on Abaddon and his plans to utterly destroy The Imperium. He has been working with Vashtorr (see below) to retrofit a host of Space Hulks with as many planet killing weapons as possible and is very eager to see the galaxu burn.

Vashtorr The Arkifane #1 - Warhammer 40000

Vashtorr, The Arkifane // Warhammer 40000

Vashtorr, The Arkifane is a daemonic entity from the grimdark future that has always been there but is now ready to make their move. A maker, crafting, forger, smith and all round lover of anything technological, Vashtorr is the arms dealer of the Chaos Legions. Want weapons and daemon engines? Vashtorr can help you. Now just make them sound like Nicholas Cage and you're away.

Vashtorr The Arkifane #2 - Warhammer 40000

Vashtorr, The Arkifane //Warhammer 40,000

Vashtorr, when they manifest in reality, is made of all sorts of technological bits and bobs as well as the flesh of those that were used in his summoning. It's a very cool look and one that properly nails those grimdark vibes in my opinion.

Vashtorr The Arkifane #3 - Warhammer 40000

Vashtorr, The Arkifane // Warhammer 40,000

Vashtorr also owes no allegiance to any particular Chaos God and whilst not a Daemon Prince, is a powerful entity in its own right. So, there's no telling what plans Vashtorr has hidden away. I would warrant that some of them involved some nice Dark Mechanicum miniatures!

Some genuinely awesome stuff seems to be in the pipeline for the forces of Chaos in Warhammer 40,000. I am intrigued to see how it all plays out!

What do you make of the new previews?
