This weekend, pre-orders go live for new Codexes for both the Orks and Adeptus Custodes of Warhammer 40,000. Games Workshop will be introduced the new Codexes for both factions plus updated Combat Patrols and more.

Codex: Orks // Warhammer 40,000

Leading the way is the new Codex for the Orks which comes in two flavours. You can go for the Collector's Edition version or the standard version depending on how big of an Ork fan you are (or how much you're willing to pay). The Codex comes with fifty-one Datasheets alongside six full Detachments for you to choose from. There will also be new Crusade rules for rampaging around the galaxy with your Greenskins.

As well as the new Codex for your full games of Warhammer 40,000, there are also rules for a Beast Snagga Boyz themed Combat Patrol.

Combat Patrol: Orks // Warhammer 40,000

Called Morgrims Butchas, this is a rampaging set of Orks for you to use when hunting big game on various planets. You get a Beastboss as well as twenty Beast Snagga Boyz to finish off the bulk of your army. The elite element is then made up of four Squighob Boyz who might be able to smash your enemies to the ground so the other Ladz can get stuck in.

Another big box of miniatures is also available for someone wanted to collect a larger force.

Orks Battleforce: Stompa Boyz // Warhammer 40,000

This set comes with the new Ork Big Mek which is the new miniature for the Orks of this edition of Warhammer 40,000. You also get a full army consisting of ten Ork Boyz, ten Loota Boyz (who can also be built as Burna Boyz), a Trukk and then finally a massive Stompa. I love that this set is such a nice mix of regular units and then you get a HUGE Stompa. Have fun building that!

Last but not least, the avid Orks collector can also get themselves a set of Datasheet Cards and Dice.

The Datasheet Cards are going to be a good set of reference materials for your games but obviously, be aware that stuff changes quite a lot with Warhammer 40,000 so you might find these going out of date fairly quickly! If you're someone who doesn't care about that then go right ahead and snap them up! The dice pack contains sixteen green-coloured dice with a lovely Ork symbol on one side.

Begin Your Adeptus Custodes Army

If you'd prefer to step into the elite boots of the Adeptus Custodes, you can also pick up a new Codex for these golden boys. I'm sure Henry Cavill will be scooping this book up for a bit of light reading.

As with all of the new Codex releases you'll get the option to go for a Collector's Edition if you like. In this case, I think I actually prefer the Collector's Edition version. You'll get all of the same lore within about the Emperor's bodyguard as well as four thematically tweaked Detachments. You'll also get your Crusade rules so you can start diving into a bit of storytelling with your army.

You will also be able to get yourself a suitably elite Combat Patrol for the Adeptus Custodes.

Combat Patrol: Adeptus Custodes // Warhammer 40,000

This set comes with a Blade Champion to lead the way alongside five Custodian Guard. From there you'll have a choice. Do you want to go with the three Allarus Terminators or the three Wardens? All of the miniatures are available in the box so you've got nearly 1000 points worth of miniatures for any games where you step beyond the boundaries of Combat Patrol.

If you would like even more elite golden boys to conquer battlefields then you can also get the Adeptus Custodes Battleforce.

Adeptus Custodes Battleforce: Auric Champions // Warhammer 40,000

This set comes with the new miniature for the Shield Captain (as underwhelming as he looks) alongside five Wardens, six Allarus Terminators and six Vertus Praetors. This gives you a solid core of infantry as well as plenty of ways to storm around the flanks of an enemy force and land a devastating charge.

Capping things off, we also have some new accessories for the Adeptus Custodes. They too get a set of Datasheet Cards and Dice.

Adeptus Custodes Datasheet Cards & Dice // Warhammer 40,000

This set of dice comes with sixteen swirling gold dice for the Adeptus Custodes with appropriate symbology on them to show your fealty to The Emperor. The Datasheet Cards are again going to be useful for reference at the tabletop but are in danger of being out of date sooner than you think so keep that in mind before you buy.
