Teclis & His Aelves Return In A Flash Of Light For Age Of Sigmar

As well as the news for Warhammer 40,000 we also had the reveals for Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar too by Games Workshop. Teclis has made his way back into the Mortal Realms in style at the head of the Lumineth Realm-lords.

A lot of the basics of the High Elf race have been covered and we'll look at that in a little bit but first off we have some of the characters coming your way. We begin with Teclis himself who is part of yet another absolutely massive model kit.
Have fun taking that from game-to-game. The model is pretty spectacular but by Sigmar, it is going to be a rather complicated model to actually use. It seems like Teclis and Alarielle share their fascination with large creatures joining them in battle and Teclis here is joined by Celennar, Spirit of Hysh. It will be very interesting to learn more about these sphinx-like creatures in future updates.
As well as Teclis we also have a bit more of a mild-mannered hero and yet still quite the feat of sculpting. Here is The Light Of Eltharion which we can only imagine is the grim warrior himself brought back to some semblance of life within the Mortal Realms.
As you'll have no doubt noticed whilst looking at the model, they have managed to make it so the armour looks hollow, a ghostly warrior whose spirit still fights on thanks to the light of his god. There are a few questions about Teclis as a model but this is pretty amazing.
A Legion Of Light
As well as the characters above we also got to see some of the rank and file that will make up the Lumineth Realm-lords army. First up we have the Vanari Auralan Wardens.
With plenty of callbacks to the original High Elf Spearmen in their design, these are some pretty awesome looking miniatures. I really like the little nudges towards Greek designs across their armour and as a whole, they seem to encapsulate that martial prowess that we know flows through the Aleven race.
As well as the Vanari Auralan Wardens we also have the Vanari Dawnriders who bring mounted combat options into the mix.
Again, there are nods and winks back to the original High Elf cavalry options here from the Old World but they have also been given a dose of dynamism to make sure they fit into the more cinematic world of Age Of Sigmar. I really like these, and I didn't think I'd be saying that about some filthy Elgi!
Seraphon Support
As well as the Lumineth Realm-lords we also got word that the Seraphon are going to be getting themselves a new Battletome.
That is not all though as these warriors of good, looking to restore order across the Mortal Realms in their own terrifying way, also got themselves a new terrain piece for you to check out. This temple crackles with magical energy and is going to be quite the reservoir for the Slann to draw from.
The new Battletome is meant to explore a lot more about the Seraphon as a race and how they came to have arrived in the Mortal Realms from the World-That-Was. It also will delve into how they are turning into the Coalesced. Whatever that means, I'm sure it will have consequences!
Rotbringers Return
As well as all of the news for these mighty armies we also got a peek at a new warband for Warhammer Underworlds. Here we have The Wurmspat, a band of three Rotbringers who are seeking out fame and glory against their foes.
Again, I think the models they have been working on here look really fun and Warhammer Underworlds has given the folks in their design department a chance to really stretch their wings and do something different with their designs. We are getting little windows into the wider world of the Mortal Realms and it might even become a way for you to be inspired to take these characters and turn them into a larger fighting force.
Sorcerer Fecula Flyblown leads two Putrid Blightkings and I'm sure they will wreak havoc across the Mortal Realms soon enough.

I’ll be interested in the spearmen and horse though not for AoS. They’ll be perfect for WFB!
The spears and cavalry look nice. Pretty much just classic helfs. Eltharion is a very clever bit of sculpting but I’d be tempted to sculpt his arms and legs back on and use him as a normal elf hero. Teclis is a bit crap. Why is he flying when he has a wierd, winged, griffon/sphinx abomination thingy? And could his pose be any less dynamic?
Because he can?
The jumping pose for Teclis in the video is better than the actual mini plus with him not riding the beast it gives the model two points of focus, leaving me cross eyed.
Overall the new elves look good, though more like someone trying to make non-GW High Elves. Not a fan of all the spearmen having the fan crests…I’d much prefer a classical High Elf pointy helm…maybe they will have head swops. Not a fan of the big glyphs either.
BACK SCABBARD ALERT!! No they would not work, the swords are too long to be drawn from their back.
Given the aesthetic of most elf/eldar stuff, practicality doesn’t seem to be particularly high on the list for them. It seems for most elves the mindset is, “we’re the most technologically-advanced race there is and our stuff always functions better than everyone else’s, so who cares if it looks practical?”
Or GW doesn’t care for practicality of any of their designs. Seeing how marine bolters would have 5-6 rounds per magazine, and yet they can blast full auto…
According to the official bolter tech-specs, a sickle mag for a bolter holds between 20-30 rounds, so it makes sense in the fluff, but not so much in terms of the models. The whole thing when it comes to GW is that they’re not concerned with real-world practicality, it’s all about what’s cool. You have to suspend a lot of disbelief in either AoS or 40K because if you try to apply real-world rules to them, they’ll just fall flat.
I don’t like elves, but Teclis (on his own)looks good. The giant griffon thing with him seems a bit out of place, and would fit better with Kingdom Death than Age of Sigmar. The rest of the elves do look like classic High Elves, but with an updated AoS look, which is appreciated. I know some people think the back-scabbards are kind of impractical, but they could be merely ceremonial or used as an absolute last resort. Though of them all, that solo character is fantastic, especially with the cool hollow armor effect.
The basic troops look great, but Teclis has a face of a man that desperately needs some prune juice, and his pose is…questionable. I honesly would love if the whole army was like the spirit-armor thing instead.
Teclis is just weird, and not in a good way. I can’t make sense of that pose. A shame as the rest of the elves are superb, the empty armour guy in particular. I love the lizardy pyramid too.
I love all of this. Teclis, his sphinx, and both of their smug faces. Although I would have reworked his armor a bit, its underwhelming for someone like that IMO. The rank and file look really good, although for being “the sliver host” they aren’t very silver and look VERY Eldar in that color. I’m so glad the lizard men are getting a book and hopefully some new sculpts that aren’t 30 years old. A pleasant surprise of a release, to me.
Teclis looks as if a child glued two random minis together. 9/10 for dumb.
The rest of the Elves will line up nicely on square bases in ranks and files.
The Nurgle stuff is just perfect. Lots of sweet planes to paint, not killed by detail, cool posing.
Heheh, I was thinking the same for the Elf rank-and-file, though I’m not so sure that the infantry will rank up onto 20mm square bases – seems like their legs may be splayed a little too far apart?
The new Elves look fantastic, but I’m really not liking Teclis’ beasty… very odd design choice for the head.

The spearmen and cavalry are fantastic but I wonder if they’re smart enough to allow you a choice of plumes / no plumes.
Eltharion is silly. Just retcon AoS away. You’re literally just producing Warhammer Fantasy stuff. We all know it. Should have just done a Primaris Eltharion instead of this.
They are making wfb things…better. In a way that the small-minded potato-sacks could’ve never imagined!
I really like the new Teclis and the Sphynx-like creature. I was surprised to see so many people moaning about him and went and had a close up look. I was expecting his face to be serene or impassive and it’s not, so perhaps i can see why some people don’t like it. But it looks like it belongs to a general from the Eurasian steppes who’s been campaigning for decades and is very hard-bitten. Amazing looking elves… teclis looks great as a collection piece for someone who paints like a God with an airbrush. As a miniature for games not so much.
Pointy elves in silver armor. I cannot complain every thing looks gorgeous and done right. I might be tempted to pick a model or two to paint.
I like the sphinx, less Teclis, mostly because of the odd pose. Love the elf cavalry. Big improvement over those weird shark riding things. I wonder if the old high elf models will be making a comeback?
Glad to read the new update from teclis Elvis and I think this work for playing. I have basketball shoes under 50 dollars which is specially designed for baseball players.
