It’s the Weekend!
And I’m awake at an absurd hour like a child on Christmas morning who’s too bleeding excited to get back to sleep…. just because I collect my new car in a few hours time. How ridiculous at my age!!
Anyway – how to distract myself for a couple of hours? I know…
Good on you mate, congratulations. 🙂
Thanks!
Red Dawn rules? Here’s a whacky suggestion… Write yourself some Infinity unit and weapon profiles! Love the d20 with AROs for skirmish!
Now for the thorny issue of late pledges on Kickstarters.
In principle I’m not against the idea (I’d be a hypocrite if I was) BUT,.. make sure that there’s a benefit to those that back the original project; whether that be discriminatory pricing or exclusive rewards/SGs for original backers only. How to handle add-ons when the PM comes out – I.e. the ability to boost a pledge – needs to be carefully considered also.
True backers are doing two things that deserve this different treatment:
1. They’re getting the project off the ground and smashing those SG targets.
2. More importantly, they’re taking the risk based on the early information.
A few months down the line when the rules are released and the additional sculpts are done what if at that point they think “Actually, I don’t like the look of this anymore and I’d rather spend that money elsewhere”, they’re committed. However if at that point a newcomer thinks ” actually I do like the look of this and want to get onboard with the same benefits” and now can… Where’s the fairness in that?
The danger is that the more projects allow late backers the more potential backers will hold off making the commitment and projects will fall short.
No objection to late backers – just give the original backers additional benefit!
Surely the fact the game is being made is reward enough. It certainly is for me.
Worth pointing out that most Kickstarters allow people to upgrade from $1 to a full pledge in the PM, so hard to say those people deserve something extra whilst late backers don’t. Also many allow refunds of some form, even all the way until the point of delivery, so again it is hard to see what the additional risk is for the original backers. However, there is the problem that if everyone waits to late pledge then SGs will not be hit and/or the project even fund. There is also the problem that if there are a large number of late pledgers it can delay production and delivery for everyone.
Personally I think if late backers are allowed shortly after the KS campaign is finished then they should get the same as everyone; the incentive to back during the campaign comes from hitting the SGs in the first place. I think the late backers option should have a limited time window though so it does not interfere with production.
And for me too, plus the fact more people will be getting the game giving me more potential opponents and the company more chance of success. There’s no evidence that allowing late pledges without penalty hurts future campaigns. CMON do it on all their campaigns, everyone knows they do it, and they raise massive totals anyway. Conversely, the worse you make the deal the more risk people not backing on a late pledge, which is just counter-productive for everyone. Speaking as a backer of MB:P, it in no way benefits me for late pledgers to get a worse deal than I did, and it risks hurting me as I have fewer potential opponents and MG/Monolith have fewer customers. All because I had the good fortune to either be aware of the campaign a couple of months sooner or know I could afford to back a little sooner than someone else. Do I really deserve a better deal just for that?
Indeed, I am a late backer upping a pound pledge on Moonstone. Simply because at time of original kickstarter I could not back more. Not ideal but toy soldiers get the money left over.
When the question was asked in the development facebook page about opening up the late pledge and ks only rewards the response was I believe unanimosely yes to both, on the basis that it meant more people playing the game.
Now obviously there is the question does this mean some campaigns are limited in what they achieve because of late backing I would say no, as the late backers either couldn’t or wouldn’t support with a full pledge at the time. So the additional just gives more funding and a wider player base.
I have mixed feelings on late pledges. I think that whilst obviously it’s great so many people want to get involved in the game, I feel those who pledge during the campaign should receive some benefit for their faith the in creators, hence why the KS exclusive minis often are so attractive to backers and I think those exclusives should remain that for the live campaign backers.
That said I have no problem with the idea that if you back the core game during the campaign you can then expand your pledge during the pledge manager to get the add ons that often bump the pledge value to double the core pledge level. In a time when there are so many very good projects out there and limited funds for most, being able to spread the love is a benefit to not only the consumer but also the creators.
I have a few comments about this.
Yes it is very important that you have the need of your initial backers or there would be no game extra SG/content aside. These people are the initial live blood to get things rolling.
I have no problem with late backers. They should be able to get the same deal as an initial backer because they will add extra funding for the project and future projects and give a better view to the company of the interest there is in the game. Secondly there will be more people playing and supporting the game from the start.
Now the only little thing I have with late backers is that the release date that was put up for the initial backers shouldn’t suffer under this.
I’d be more worried about the creators being able to fullfill all those additional late pledges and keep the original deadline.
There’s a very real risk of them running out of budget in order to produce all the content.
As such the only reason the late pledge shouldn’t get the ‘exclusive’ content is because there is a limited production capability and/or warehouse storage space.
It shouldn’t to be about ‘rewarding’ early backers, because kickstarting shouldn’t be about who got there first but about getting the game in production.
Why would late backers create a risk of running out of budget? They’re paying the same as they would have had they backed during the campaign, so how are the sums different if they back two months later?
Pushing fulfilment back is a potential risk, though it’s not a late backer thing unless the creator was going to rule the campaign off at a certain point. The one argument I am sympathetic to is if allowing late backers will mean pushing back fulfilment, then late backers should be fulfilled last.
I think the only real danger of late pledges is that the production schedule becomes bloated. Perhaps a company has to restructure their planning or look for other suppliers to meet the demand.
But that may just as well happen during the campaign as well. Just look at the succes of Kingdom Death: Monster. I’m eagerly waiting to see what happens with the already quite stretched out planning for delivery of that game and its supplements.
Surely this is no different to an unexpectedly successful kickstarter? Some limit them, most I’ve seen don’t. They’re happy to take our money. Late pledge away, I say!
Agreed to a point, but I think that the “additional benefit” is reasonably restricted to priority in receiving the goodies.
Not entirely sure that there is more risk anyway, since you can pull out of the kickstarter right until it finishes anyway. Further, I assume the companies make more money off the late pledges since kickstarter wouldn’t get their cut?
I’ve never felt cheated by late pledgers for a KS I backed.
Honestly, a lot of measures to make early backers feel special just feels like punishing late backers arbitrarily. Sometimes, it is more detrimental to the company to do this (homogenizing orders is a lot less work when shipping time comes around).
Also- late backers are a very small minority of backers (the vast majority of extra funds in a KS are due to current backers grabbing more add ons). I’ve several KS that tracked late backers- and it is never a large number.
If backing for projects was dropping off combined with huge surges in late pledges, then I’d concede that you have a point. But since we aren’t seeing that trend, I don’t think there’s much point in combating it.
When I back a kickstarter, I assess whether I want what they’re offering for the price- and whether I’m confident in their ability to deliver. I don’t care what sort of deal other people get.
Nice!
Happy weekend!
Gortisi and Teknes are best but Shael Han is growing on me. Nasier…I kind of use them for a demon cult in D&D.
I don’t have any Hadross.
Happy Weekend!
Happy Weekend and Happy Chinese New Year to all.
Happy weekend everyone!
The paint job on the mythic stuff LOVE IT!!!
@warzan here’s a couple of 28mm modern lines for you.

Enjoy!
Mythic can’t get here soon enough. Good show, looking forward to next week.
After seeing the minis in this weeks video and hearing about the ABS weapons… the wait for Mythic Battles is becoming even worse!
Gung hay fat choy! Love the textured roller, John and Justin. Great way to make one off base patterns.
These would be good for your table your looking for for Red Dawn.

That wrath of kings stuff looks amazing :O
After going through the whole thing I have to say I was pretty interested by the Eldar stuff they have been floating around the net for a little while the first shots were of them in a cabinet…
Anyway what I am most interested about is the background around them, the way they are advancing the story without letting it all go.
I also think it is a really interesting direction for the Eldar to go, rather than going here are the exodite models, and reinforcing them as space Elves they chose to do something different, a combination of the Dark Eldar and the Craftworld Eldar, very much early French high society, filled with mystery and manipulation or at leas that is the feel it give to me.
I am going to be quietly optimistic about this.
Excellent, more Mythic Battles! Is the given picture the actual painted Atlas? If so I desire it greatly. 😀
Great show guys, as always. And thank you for your coveragr of Mythic Battles, it’s gonna be a great game. The Atlas is personally my favourite of all the titans! And Justin – you really rocks!:-)
Always been interested in Wrath of Kings, so this looks promising
Happy weekend!
That Titan from Mythic Battles… wow! Massive and captures the feel of a Titan on the tabletop. Will get the plastic one from the KS, but well, you can never have enough Titans 🙂
Looking forward to the WoK-week!.
@warzan – Bloody hell, you look so young when you shave and comb your hair! 😀
Chrome cast has paid for itself thanks to being able to watch the weekender on a big screen instead of squinting on my phone. Makes my Saturday mornings. Thanks guys.
I love the idea of the upcoming boot camp. @warzan I do wish you would give us a little more lead time between date announcement and ticket availability. I would love to attend but will not be able to see if I have the dates free until Monday when I am back at work. Fingers crossed there are tickets left and once I know what’s on the horizon.
Wasn’t the date announced on XLBS last week?
My bad, sorry guys seems I missed the first couple of minutes last week. Don’t I feel a di…….
Happy weekend lots of shiny stuff. Am all over hobby BOWW (beasts of war weekend)
The mythic battles figures are looking great, I’m glad I pledged on it. I really like the mix of plastics for the weapons to avoid spear droop!
I backed Mythic Battles: Pantheon, initially on the strength of the superb demo game you guys did with Leo all those months ago but even more so on the basis of Leo and Jake’s constant detailed communication, the glorious minis, the team’s willingness to think about feedback and explanations of what and how things were going to happen. The KS Live sessions with Leo were stupendous and I know some of us loonies out here still want them to consider releasing a few of the minis in the BIG POSEIDON scale as display pieces. I also backed Conan and again, Monolith have looked at feedback and continue to send communication via the KS and released the updated rules pdf recently – now that is what I call a dedicated bunch of guys.
For Red Dawn I have to suggest that you have a look at FiveCore from Nordic Weasel Games.
Happy weekend! Never got too much into the WoK world or game but always been awarded of the game so really interested in this week coming up
Always great to Leo, can’t wait for my Kickstarter pledge 😀
I also love how they keep this alive throughout the year, it’s so refreshing to see that and even better that they are doing through BoW too 🙂 🙂
Warren meets mat – now you’ve said I love the idea of a curved game mat. Even thought if you made 2 half pipes (haven’t skated in years I’m sure that’s what they were called :-D) so you have flat in the middle then curves up either side but then… if you were to put a magnetic mat (made of the stuff like fridge magenta) ontop of those boards before you laid the mat down then put something that would stick to the magnetic strip under the base of the mini then you could get quite a harsh angle and the mini could still play up the sides
If that makes sense 🙂
Happy Saturday
Mythic Battles is Awesome. I cannot wait to get this game. Gimme one of those Mini’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ATLAS PAINTED!!!! OMG! The Malamute wantssss it. My precioussss!
Good Morning! Really looking forward to Wrat Of Kings week. Been contemplating getting into either WoK or Hordes and this might help me make a decision.
Super pumped about Mythic Battles: Pantheon, thanks for doing more coverage on it!
Happy Weekend! Hi Leo!! It was great to see you on the Weekender. The mini’s for Mythic Battle look amazing! I am so glad I backed this project and can’t wait to have the game in hand.
@warzan – Myself and @darkiss think you should have a weekly deviation video with a panel of people as guests discussing the weird and wonderful stories of the day and how one could bring these stories into miniature & board games. Your discussions with Justin on the weird side of life make good viewing.
We just came up with a name “Beasts of War Twilight Zone” 🙂
Empress have some nice modern Russians and Chechnyans that would look great fighting over those mats.
I’m not concerned about late pledges because it’s the game that matters and as long as everything ships on time who cares?
I can’t quite put into words just how much I’m looking forward to mythic Battles.
I’m super stoked that John’s Tool was about the textured rollers from Greenstuffworld that I mentioned way back when Warren was asking about cobblestones. Still hoping to see him test out their blue stuff thermoplastic molding material. I have to know if it’s as awesome as it looks.
The Santorini (AKA Thera) volcano went off around 1600 BC and was estimated at around 40 atomic bombs. Legends of Atlantis come to Greece through Hesiod who learned of it (as a legend) from the Egyptians while writing his Theogeny in the 900s BC. Plato composed a pseudo history of it based very loosely on Hesiod’s (by then 600+ year old) description which he used allegorically to illustrate various principles of his ideal state and a war with Athens that caused the gods to abandon Atlantis and let it sink into the ocean.
BTW atomic bombs are notable because they release all that energy very rapidly in an instant. A hurricane though can, over its existence of weeks, put out around 10,000 times the energy of an atomic bomb. Around 2500 nuclear devices of varying strength have been set off on the Earth since 1945 mostly in tests though some of them failed to go off or had incomplete very low yield events. A lot of those tests were underground or underwater. Nukes are powerful but nature is way more powerful. Generally though nature doesn’t release that power in an instant with a sudden impulse.
@palaeomerus
Where are you getting that information on Hesiod? The date is too early, I’m not aware of any Egyptian influence, nor of any mention of Atlantis.
Are you getting it from Bernal?
I reckon Plato made the Egyptian link up himself
Well you have 900 Hesiod and 650ish Hesiod who is contemporary with Homer and there are arguments about where to stick Hesiod. He definitely got written down around 650 but the argument goes the oral tradition written down is older. And a lot of people put him at 750BC since that is when Delphi was widely known and he mentions Delphi in his work.750 is a big deal because that date is given for foundation of Greek colonies and 753 marks the death of the last king of Athens and the shift to rulers with a set limited term of authority. It’s kind of when Greeks started caring about their neighbors and surroundings in a possessive way of ‘this is us and that is them’. It is presumed that if Hesiod was earlier than this he’d not have so much mention of locations considered important to the Greek world since it was not regarded as a Greek world yet by various the tribes of Greeks. Some consider Hesiod the likely cause of this new sense of commonality. I was taught in school that he was sort of a mix between mythical and historical that predated Homer by a few centuries and served as a bridge from Orpheus to Homer. Early Greeks seem to have shared this idea but after 400 BC they seem to have decided Homer and Hesiod were contemporary roughly and some put Hesiod after Homer slightly. I dunno.
Hesiod did not specifically call Atlantis Atlantis but the concept comes from his works since Plato built most of his Atlantis from elements in Hesiod’s Theogeny and themes from The Works and Days (people becoming awful and everything eventually going to hell). The war of the titans and the gods parallels Plato’s war of Atlantis and Athens. The walls of bronze surround the and the walls of Tartarus build by Poseidon are probably the source of the oricalcum walls around Atlantis. Plato built his Atlantis from Hesiod’s legos so to speak.
While he probably never traveled to Egypt he likened some of the gods in Theogeny to Egyptian gods suggesting they had some role in the genealogy of heaven and that one could learn about the one set of gods by examining the other.
Later Solon, and later still Herodotus would travel to Sais and their poems and histories provide yet more bits for Plato to plunder and stuff into his Atlantis including oddly specific canal and harbor measurement. I supposed one could reasonably speculate that Plato’s allegorical story of Atlantis works a bit like H. P. Lovecraft’s fiction in that it borrows a little real information & structure from historians or mythology while pretending to borrow much more, thus granting a sense of verisimilitude to his own inventions to a careless or easily impressed reader. (Like me lol).
@palaeomerus
I’m not aware of any argument for Hesiod being as early as 900, and given the biographical information he provides and the composition style of his poetry I’m not sure how there could be. Martin West is unusual in placing Hesiod before Homer, most place him slightly after, but as he was just about the world’s foremost expert on Hesiod before his untimely passing a couple of years ago, who am I to argue lol. West sees the tradition Hesiod draws from in the Theogony as coming from Mesopotamia via Crete, which seems likely, though it underplays Hesiod’s contribution. Haubold has a done a lot of good work on this aspect recently, though The East Face of Helicon is still a very important book for the transmission of culture to the Greeks from their neighbours (unlike Black Athena which at the very least should be taken with a large dose of salt). I don’t recall any likening of the gods to Egyptian gods in the Theogony and have had a quick re-read and didn’t notice it. Can you give the line reference (serious question 🙂 )? It’s something that Herodotos very definitely does do a few centuries later. In the interests of full disclosure, I research Archaic and Classical Greece in the context of the wider ancient world (specifically legal history) so this is a topic of professional interest. Which is not intended to say I am right and you are wrong, I am genuinely interested in the scholarship you’re drawing from to give that early a date for Hesiod, and an Egyptian rather than Mesopotamian influence :). You do get some scholars trying to hold to that early a date for Homer, but the overwhelming consensus is that he’s 8th or 7th century (or perhaps both lol). Likewise for Hesiod being Plato’s source for Atlantis, though that’s more because it seems a massive reach and I’m interested in seeing the argument for it rather than any professional interest.
Stoked to hear about the late pledge option for Mythic Battles 🙂
Looking forward to getting my pledge for mythic battles. Can’t wait to get the titan!
@dignity stop perving at @warzan beard lol
It is great that the Mythic Battle KS is on track, like Justin, i so want to hold the minis.
It is very difficult with re-opening KS. I know I will be increasing my pledge to get some more figures. But, there was loads of communication in many platforms about the KS and I do not see why they cannot purchase when the product goes to retail which will support our local stores.
Not everyone did hear of the campaign whilst it was live. There have been plenty of people who have discovered it since. Do they really deserve to miss out on the KS pledge just for an accident of a few weeks? None of the KSE product will go to stores so they can’t buy that, nor will the deal be anywhere near as good so lots of people do pass on campaigns like this at retail for this reason. The PM is open, there are people who can pledge now who for whatever reason could not pledge then, it benefits everyone for them to pledge, so why make it difficult or impossible for them to do so?
And I am always up for a tight one!
Walking Dead minis for resistance faction.
omfg @37 Minutes look at the Blue Gyrinx cat model so beautiful.
Isn’t team Yankee set around the same time as red dawn?
A new game to sink more of my money into? Working street corners for might be in my future to afford all this goodness.
I don’t often get jelly, but I am very very jelly of the main Relic Knights prize winner. Very. Jelly,
Happy Weekend all. The Mythic Patheon did look good, do hope with how big it got they have no problems delivering to all the backers, same thoughts for anyone who got in on 1.5 Kingdom death. I didn’t get in on either but I think I heard a rumour that Mythic were going to look at other arenas, if they do a Mythic Valhalla I’d have to get. Both Mythic and Kindom do show just how far that artists and tech that make the minis have come in a few decades.
i back Pantheon too but for minimum am sorely tempted to throw more money at it….
I went straight in with Mythic Battles in the kickstarter. I love the whole Greek mythos and now to have a game set around this awesome! I also love the prospect of a painted Titan – now that’s a mythic reward!!
I love that you switched out the old music from the “hubs ads” to a new tune! And the Warren and Mat segway is a lot of fun too! Small details but great for giving the format a refresh without butchering what this show is all about and manging to keep it BoW style. Great job!
I really wanted to pledge for Mythic battles but it collided with kingdom death
“What the f*ck is going on?” Sounds like a great name for a new regular segment to me!
Great to see the prototypes of the production minis for MB:P – they’re just what I hoped for.
Originally, I was planning on cheating and doing cell shading on the lot of them, but I think that I’m going to have to put the effort in to do them properly. Sure, it will take me five years to do it, but a guy’s got to have a hobby!
On the basis of this Weekender, I have looked into Wrath of Kings and I particularly love House Goritsi. The Blood Engine is one of the most characterful models I have ever seen.
There are two left arms(one with a huge sword) and boiler-backpacks for the blood engine so you can build I guess four versions of it. It also comes with a neat “keeper”: who is a mad scientist vampire w/ an apron of scary tools and syringes who is a pure bonus sculpt with no card or presence in the game.
the Fu-Lung Devourer (dragon) of Shael Han also comes with two tails, two riders(one with a sword and one with a pole arm) and two different whisker/mustache things so you can field two to four and have them all look a bit different.
The Nasier Greathorn has two different swords(for same hand), an axe and a hammer you can swap out to make variations. So you could do Hammer + Sword 1, Hammer + sword 2, Axe + sowrd 1 or Axe + sword 2. The Nasier Greathorn, Shael Han Fu Lung Devourer, and Goritsi Blood Engine are all Specialist Box # 2 for their respective faction.
The Hadross Spcialist Box #2 is the Orsund Cavalier which is a shark guy riding a kraken (squid). looks like it comes with some alternate tentacles and two different riders as well.
Awesome stuff, really happy to be here thanks to Mythic games, excellent website! Those shows are really cool! Didn’t quite get how to win those resin minis but still, very nice to see all this stuff so well presented!
Happy weekend all.
backed mythic battles
are you showing any other played games
You could very easily make set on pieces to put under a mat to make the concave play surface. You would just need some thickish mdf, 1/2″ or a little thicker, about 18″ or 2 foot long by 6″ wide, and some thin plywood, about 3mm should work. Cut the mdf into curved hypotenuse triangles and then staple and glue the plywood on top.
If you did a 4 foot wide, 2 foot long, 6″ high ramp then the plywood would need to nearer 3 foot by 4 foot to cover. Make 4 mdf spines for under, the thin ply should have the flex to fit. Make 2 then set under each side of the mat and you have a space station interior board.
Also to be playable on hills I’ve heard that a 3:1 incline is the golden so thats where I guessed measurements from.
As a Mythic battles pantheon KS backer i can’t wait for more content on BoW.
Somehow I feel like being at Beast of war towers for the 1st of april is a bad idea haha.
Also, I know they said the winners would get a random mini but…. Can I please have an Athena? =)
She is my favourite of Greek mythology. Just recently realised that Bath (where I live) has alot of architecture dedicated to Athena (well, Minerva as the Roman’s called her, this is a Roman city afterall), which is just awesome. She’s everywhere here! I knew there was a reason I loved this place!
Man… what a tangent. I’m worse than Warren
Happy Weekend all 🙂
this mat that Justin and Warren present in Warren meets mat is really nice and well detailed. Would be a nice addition to a collection of mats if someone has a few of them at home or for a club but I would argue that if you want a versatile mat better go for something simple like grassland or desert depending on your choice.
I love the John’s tool segment and the short clips in which he is destroyed by Warren’s news 😀
I am one of the guys that needed to decide between Mythic and KD. Unfortunately funds allowed to back only one..
But I sure as hell will get the retail version. I’d love to get my hands on the minis!!
@warzan
Concerning Red Dawn..
Most of the modern 28s aren’t 80s so maybe you can time warp the story into the 2000s??
Empress are great for Moderns, Eureka too but a little hard to get over here.
However, you have Project Z sitting on your shelves..the SpecOps dudes can be build as Russians or US and the survivors as well as the motorcycle gang would make excellent resistance fighters!!!!
Shame one can’t post pics here, otherwise I’d show you what I’ve done with them..
Create a forum topic for me mate, you could be onto something!
@warzan
Done!
Red Dawn 2017 – Canada Invades the US!
Politest invasion ever 🙂
@warzan for the sloped board you were talking about in Warren meets Mat. you could draw a slope you want and a straight line along it as an imaginery base to sit on the table on a sheet of ply and adjust till your happy. then use that as a template to cut timbers to shape every say 400mm along the straight line . Once your happy screw a thin sheet of ply to bend to shape for the top and another to the bottom to keep its shape. if you do it in two halves you could use one half as a gradual embankment for other games.
The bottom ply would have to be thicker than the top board to stop warping but you could also run 2×1 batons along to also keep its shape. And as long as you don’t glue any of it you could unscrew it all for long time storage.
When you have the painting bootcamp I hope you not only video every tutorial, but you also do a written version with photos. I know I would potentially find both useful. I couldn’t attend as I have to paint at my painting station, where I have my light perfect, all my paints and tools to hand, a steady flat work surface, all my paitning guides available, and the internet for pics to follow, and the weekender to watch.
Super episode gents, thank you. Really enjoying the hobby tips. Mythic battles does indeed look inspiring. I will be following the week.
great show again I backed mystic pantheon so looking forward to getting my kickstarter pledge .,and maybe building some features for the game
Another brilliant show guys and great tinder the Mythic Battles guys with you. Can’t wait to see the games you have played this week
As a a backer from quite early on to MBP I don’t mind late backers but think they should either pay slightly more than those on board before the KS ended, or they get a few bits less than others for their money
Would love to win kind of today’s prizes and have everything crossed
Entertaining as always, really excited to see the WoK coverage start.
Great show! Mythic Battles = best game of 2016! Yay!
I’m so glad that they’re doing a late pledge for Mythic battles. At the time of the kickstarter i just didn’t have the cash for it … now i’ll get it for sure!
And happy weekend guys, thanks for another great show! my weekends wouldn’t be the same without you 😉
Fantastic weekender again guys.
Loved the look of those two mats together, problem is it makes me want more 4ground stuff too. The red dawn idea is awesome, that film must have been one of my all time favorites growing up.
Theres loads of really interesting bits coming from 40k at the moment, im quite excited to see whats going to happen over the coming months.
To have a resin version of a Mythic Battles Pantheon is sweet, if it would be Atlas that would be awesome. Nice of Mythic Battles to give these prices.
Am all in for Mythic Battles and have WoK, both great games.
Ah, December can’t come soon enough for Mythic Battles. I’m equally excited for the art book, too. Whole game looks great.
About the battle map. It is nice that you don’t need river terrain. You can use the river as protection on the flank of your army.
Nice basing with the tool. I would like to see the complete rolled out pattern.
Can’t wait for the MB:P content.
Not at all surprised to see that the cog-smith has an amazing gun.
Can’t wait for the hobby weekend 🙂
April’s fool 😀
Can’t wait for Mythic Battles Pantheon to arrive on my doorstep… still more than 10 months waiting….
I’ve seen the minis up close and they are as beautiful as you can see on the video, even more when they are painted by talented guys like Martin Grandbarbe and Vlad!
since this WARREN meets mat thing my wife watch too ……..
Happy Saturday … Simply great weekender. Really exciting to see all the videos during the Wrath of Kings week.
Happy Saturday!
@ Warzan – I’ve messaged you twice and not a response – c’mon man- what’s happening? 🙂
GW never cease to amaze me. I’m going to avoid rules discussions – but talk about the models. Over the last few years, the level of detail within their sculpts has improved massively (even by the high standards they already had), but despite this they somehow managed to make the models less interesting to me. And then, every so often, they produce something like the Ynnead sculpt! Oh. My. God. What a stunning model. So much detail, and such a wonderful pose. It’s just so nice. I have no interest in 40K now, but that is a model I would love to paint!
please please please bring back re roll.
It is nice to hear more about Mythic Battles
Another great show! Setting my alarm for 6 a.m. UK time! Hope to see you all in person.
I think Leo might be the most likeable guest, he’s always seems tso giddy when talking about mythic, its great. And man, I wish I knew enough enough people that had enough time to play Mediovo, it looks brilliant
really looking forward for the wraith of king week and for the curve board I surgest using the folding mdf board with curve bracing
Great episode. Those mini’s look lush
I love Red Dawn (Original not silly modern one). A game would be fabulous and now I want to play 28mm Red Dawn. There’s a few decent 28mm modern skirmish rules out there, but writing your own would make it more fun. Additional stress tests as these kids are watching their homes burn as they fight back. @warzan, someone has already suggested http://eurekaminusa.com/, which are very good. I’ve also bought from Empress minis for my modern British army. The most appropriate for Red Dawn is http://www.theassaultgroup-shop.co.uk/russians as they have the paratrooper uniforms and equipment. I’ve been pining over these models for a while as they have awesome swat teams, but they do have a wide range of modern units including 1980’s infantry. I want to see this RD game come to life, its a brilliant idea.
Why does the end of the weekender always mean I have to go to work 🙁
I’m soooo jealous I want to win them cool games 🙁
I won! YAY!!!. Looking very much forward to trying Shadow Games. Thanks so much for the chance to win these fabulous prizes.
If I could, I would sign up for the hobby weekend the very minute it went online. Huge fan of Army Painter. But unfortunately I have rent and food to pay 🙁 But I think it’s such a great idea, and hope it becomes a huge success, so I’ll have a chance to join in at a later time 🙂
Awesome weekender as always. I’ll be up bright and early tomorrow to watch the XLBS as well 🙂
Congratulations 🙂 Always nice to see a winner who needs it
Happy weekend!!
@warzan — thanks to and BoW for introducing me to Mythic Battles — I would have missed this awesome game and the amazing team behind it. My only problem is that I measure every other Kickstarter against them. Also, thanks for putting out the PSA that Kickstarter is not a pre-order system. There are so many people who do not understand. There was a designer on Reddit the other days saying there was a 16% cancellation rate because so many people did not understand how KS worked.
However, the worst part of Mythic Battles is this — you know come the beginning of December you start to get that anticipation for Xmas and you can hardly stand that 3 weeks to the day. Well, for MB:P — we have to wait a whole darn year! I may need some insanity from KDM to save me before the game arrives!
I backed several kickstarters last year.Mythic battles is one of the ones I am looking forward to receiving the most. Those minis look fantastic and the rules looked very tight during the lets play video.
Wrath of Kings looks interesting, I may have to keep an eye on those videos, happy weekend.
Ace show 🙂
Hail for the Fire Rooster,
WOW another weekend of Crazy prize giveaways. Would like to come to the hobby boot camp but don’t think I can afford another one so soon. Will there be a pop up shop at the flames of war boot Camp?
That 6′ by 8′ mat would also be great for some retro skirmish gaming. What about a multiplayer game of Mordheim? Those can be awesome. And with weirdstone (objectives) scattered around the board you could have action happening in all corners.
I agree that checking for matching colors is important. I just received the 1’x 1′ Infinity mats from Micro Art Studios and unfortunately there is a noticeable color difference between a fair few of them. It’s not that bad when the mats are fully covered with terrain. But if a color mismatch can be prevented so much the better.
Great show as usual and some great prizes
just order 2 of those mats been looking for ones for our new game for these year Ukraine gone hot those will be perfect for it.
Wrath of Kings and Mythic Battles… I’m a happy camper… 🙂
Those production minis for mythic battles are really sweet. Super excited for this, i’m already £250 in to this, looks like i will have to raid my piggy bank and get some more stuff.
give aways are great but the money can’t buy prizes last week and this are amazing . congratulations to the big winner of the relic knights prize.
kind of wish the biggest prizes were backstage only.
Looking forward to learning more about Wrath of Kings. Mythic looks amazing. If I wasn’t fighting for my disability and had a good job still, I would have jumped all over that one.
I backed Mythic Battles, but I’d love to win a painted Atlas.
Delve looks to be a fun little game. I got to find out more about it.
Hi all happy saturday.
Just a quick point of view re MBP as a backer i am happy to open the pledge manager to fresh pledgers….with one concern that origional backers should not suffer any delay to the time of delivery caused by additional product being produced, new backers could be added to a second wave of releases to allow origional backer the products produced within the origional planned timescales and product runs commited to in the first instance.
Happy weekend! The Mythic Battles miniatures do look good, I especially like that they made the weapons straight…
I think that this week John’s tool would work great for the Shattered sword Paladins from Relic Knight. Or for the Basilean from Kings of war, doing the whole diorama thing.
Mythic Battles is looking better all the time. I’m glad I backed for everything.
Crazy prize draws this time around guys!
Looking forward mythic battles so many lovely minis.
Great show chaps! This year is going to be the longest ever waiting for Mythic battles to arrive on my door step. I’m on a painting binge trying to clear my current projects so I’m clear by the time it arrives.
Great show,
Warren meets mat, how about A Bridge To Far and some BA with some British Paras holding out for reinforcements. Otherwise just do a paradrop using BA.
Mythic Battles is looking very good can’t wait for that one. The chance of a Titan is just nuts! sign me up 🙂
Happy weekend!
Really looking forward to Mythic Battles: Pantheon!
The Wrath of Kings models are fantastic.. the PVC material is awesome to work with.. they go together so well! The starters sets are such a great option!!! Really interested in the renewed push in this game… I got into it right after the KS shipped and then the lack of support was tough!
Everytime that intro to “Warren meets Mat” plays, my girlfriend looks over my shoulder and asks “What are you watching?”…
Hello everybody,
I am waiting for MBP. I am looking forward to see more of the played games wit the Beast of War Team. Thank you!
Good morning guys, John get to work .
Wrath of kings looks really cool, I recently won a drawing on twitch and got a paint set and some hadross minis…. So I’m going to be painting them soon. I really look forward to the rest of the week and seeing what the other factions look like.
Also excited with the whole fall of Cadia… I haven’t been involved with 40k in a long time but I’m really hoping for a massive change up to the universe.
The blue flame on the new Eldar avatar looks a lot like the blue flame in the new burning chariot of Tzeentch….
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Start-Collecting-Daemons-of-Tzeentch
I’m really looking forward to Mythic Battles – it has mainly been BoW’s coverage that convinced me to back the Kickstarter.
a painted atlas will be great
The Mythic Battles miniatures look amazing can’t wait to start painting and playing.
Great to see wrath of kings getting some coverage, it’s a great game. Love the models.
Mythic battles looks very cool. Love the Ancient Greek setting.
Atlas FTW 🙂
Hmmm late backers on KS. It’s a good idea if people are genuinely discovering a product during a release cycle but the problems start when backers actively start holding off pledging as they know they will get a second risk free bite further down the line. Obviously this would lead to less upfront funding which in turn means less stretch goals unlocked or even incomplete funding. I guess the simplest way would be to offer a either a KS exclusive product or bundle that’s only available in the initial run. Can’t see that causing to many problems and has been done before. In the end it all depends on the numbers, if late backers only account for say 5% of a projects total then its not really an issue, if it was more like 40% then that could spell trouble. On the flip side I guess a company doesn’t have to give a percentage to KS if bids come in after the KS ends so it could be a much needed boost in funds. I suppose Without knowing all the numbers involved it’s hard to really give an informed opinion!
I went all-in on the MBP kickstarter but man, getting a painted Atlas would be amazing!
ooh wrath of kings week… locks wallet in a time lock safe. ready
Happy weekend!
Thanks for your tool John! This is going to be usefull…
Wow, so glad i backed Mythic Battles with my friend, those samples look amazing! They are going to be a joy to paint and i will aim to paint my entire starter box 😉
For a few minutes, i thought i missed a day there, when @warzan put his Moses beard on!
See you on XLBS
Great show guys, thanks. I’m a backer on Mythic Battles and I’ve been really impressed with how they are doing things so far. Glad to see them in person and get another update though.
I love the Santorini/Atlantis theory. It all seems to fit together to me put maybe I’m more credulous than Justin 🙂
great weekender lots of fun just what the doctor ordered
Great show again guys …..
I’m not sure about the blog. I think it needs something different I’m just not sure what….
Perhaps use some of the weekender and mthen add some blog only content.
Happy Weekend!
I think you broke John.
A section of a Stanford TorusTorus station like Elysium or Halo would be interesting although the curvature of the station would be more noticeable at larger scales, so maybe 15 or 10mm like DZC, the changes in line of sight would make for some interesting tactical situations, Hmm, many interesting possibilities.
The Red Dawn game looks like it would be awesome.
The Fracture Of Biel-Tan looks awesome! 😀 as I have already said at length.
The Mythic Battles Minis look magnificent I shall patiently await my pledge 🙂
Argh! Kickstarter temptation again, NO NO NO, must maintain self-control.
Great Show Guys! 😀
Glad Beasts of War will be working with the team at Mythic to create some entertaining content for Mythic Battles Pantheon whilst we wait for delivery of what should be a great game. Thanks to both Mythic and BoW sixteen lucky few will win one of fifteen unique resin figures or a resin version of Atlas with the option to have him studio painted. Here’s to hoping that fortune smiles upon me and I am lucky enough to be one of the sixteen blessed by the last few remaining gods of Olympus.
@warzan try flexible wood sheets to form the curve of the space station.
Great show! Looking forward to the Wrath of Kings week!
That Mythic battle is really awesome ! Can’t wait !
There has never been a more exciting prize on Weekender than the painted Atlas. Wow!
Loving the podcast. I’ve been meaning to suggest this myself actually – as a postie, a podcast is perfect for me to listen to as I work 🙂
I beleive those foxy tricksters are based on Kitsune, the fox/man spirit folk that exist in Japanese folklore, like all foxes in lore, they are wily and trickstery.
@warren, get some big pipe or a barrel / oil drum that can be sawed and bent outwards to make a wide halfpipe. .A support on either side and you have your ringworld space station inside of the Babylon 5 whatsit..
And you get to say with a straight face “In the pipe, five by five” when playing!
I could only afford a single mini from the wrath of kings KS, the Hadross Orsund Cavalier, But that is a fantastically detailed monstrous octopus! Love it.
Newly registered just to say that I’m pumped for MB:P, and I love all the new content you guys are working on together!
a great weekender guys liking the new stuff coming out.
Shave and a Haircut, 2 quid?
Where’s the link to John’s Tool?
For Red Dawn, why wait ’til the 80’s when you just do the 50’s and use Bolt Action minis and rules.
I just Love the Mythic Battle stuff it looks so great i have a pledge on kikstarter and i just hope i am goin to have the time to get enough money for the all in pledge cause i am dying to get them all right now the timing is not good for me but i hope ill have enough game sold just to geth tis one
Backed Mythic Battles! Cannot wait for it. Winning this would be amazing.
Thanks Lads, Just to comment on something earlier . I really like what Mantic is continuing to do with Kings of War. They are supporting it with rules , tournaments and new releases outside of kickstarters. If (and I have no doubt that it will) Warpath receives the same support, it will be a cracking fast play tournament sci fi game …(with space dwarfs …. glares at GW …dwarf hating %^^%s)
It was also great to see the gents from Mythic Battles over they have done a terrific job with their minis and they look superb…. and they are nice blokes with it.
Happy Hobbying and all the best
Damn , and I wanted to say , it was nice to finally see John’s tool, it’s a nice piece of kit, and I really want to get my hands on it and try it out …………….*snort* …..*giggles like naughty school boy* ……. tee hee… 😉
You could curve it with sheet metal, put magnets on the base of all your models so they stick. Could be very awesome!
@warzan, when you are wearing your beard, the pull of the strap makes your ear look slightly elvish 😉
I backed Mythic Battles from day 1. (No choice after watching your play through.) Bring on the MB:P week I just can’t wait.
Warren, dude you look like that “not drinking” diet is paying off! (either that or you shaved), ‘mon yersel big man! (in Scottish that means “good for you, sir”)
Also Wrath of Kings is great and more people should play it.
Great show as always lads
@warzan. Don’t worry about your Cadians, there were definitely survivors, and Cadia had forces across countless Imperial sectors.
I’m stoked for Gathering Storm and the path it might take the lore over the next 18 months. So two books already means that there will be a lot to this. And they have promised not to blow up the universe, just a few planets maybe….
The Yncarne does look Slaaneshi, but I’m not surprised. Slaanesh was born of the decadence and excess of Eldar culture, so an ancient Eldar death god powered by souls should have that similarity in my book
The content on their twitch channel has been first rate and really entertaining, and if I had any complaint is that there is so much good stuff coming out it is hard to keep up with. And I spend a lot on my GW hobby as it is.
Good show. I liked the mats.
oh wow the weapons are so nice
Justin, just for the record, volcanic explosions can be incredibly powerful. The one at Krakatoa in 1883, for example, was about 10,000 times stronger than the Hiroshima bomb.
Found you through Mythic Battles Pantheon. You are an awesome channel keep the good work up 🙂
Yeah, I looked into how much it would cost for me and the wife to fly to Belfast, and…. I’ll be watching the live blog.
Wow, some major prize giveaways. You guys are amazing!!!!
I really love the green stuff rollers! The variety of rollers available is quite good too!
Have no issue with the late backers personally. IMO the game should reach as many people as possible and grow the community. Mythic Battles Pantheon is going to be amazing and can’t wait for it!
Milliput works fine with stuff like that rolling pin as long as you dip the pin in water or keep the milliput wet. Another use for it is to use the blanks that Happy Seppuku sells in order to make your own base inserts.
The wrath of kings stuff looks so good.
I own a couple of pieces that thought looked cool. But now I get to see how to play. This could get expensive !
The mythic stuff looks amazing. I’m glad that kick starter has tuned out so good.
Woah the mythic guys really are doing a great job of keeping up the momentum on this one. Can’t wait to get a hold of it!
I would fancy to win that titan and paint in myself.
We need a kickstarter for Red Dawn the war game.
I’d back it but Warren has to keep wearing the fake beard.
i like the battle mat, i think i have to buy it for myself
Could you use Team Yankee to make a Red Dawn game?
Also where are you getting the 40k info is there a website with it on?
@dignity and @johnlyons The Green Stuff World rollers work well with Milliput too, if you use a bit of vaseline with it. I’ve found the normal (red) Milliput to be great with the cobblestone roller as it gives that slightly grainy finish. Then the milling lines from the rollers are less obvious too.
@john thanks for showing your tool again. Im definitely going use it for my next Army project. The mythic battles mini’s look amazing.
Really looking forward to MB:P. The plastic production models look lovely. Leo remains as gleeful as ever!
Love to c a lets play for mythic battle when the rules are finalised
Great minis, great guys, Mythic Batlles : Pantheon is going to be a great game !
I have just purchased Goritsi Zeti box, at this moment for my Dragon Rampant Vampire Army, however I am looking forward to know more about the Wrath of King rules, as models looks great.
Can’t wait to see more Mythic Battles: Pantheon content here on Beasts of War. I’ve watched the playthrough twice already, and something tells me I’ll need to watch it a couple more times to make the waiting more bearable
Guys, you are insane with those prices 🙂
I have heard of Wrath of Kings, but haven’t looked into it. So I’ll follow this week for more info.
Loving the show guys. But need to see loads more historical content.
Looking forward to wrath of kings. I have tried but it was with the kick starter rulebook and too say work was needed was an understatement largely in proof reading and clarification. However, still held enough to show potential.
@johnlyons the rollers are great I am trying them on sculpey to sheet sheets of modelled material to then break for basing and modelling. Its worth a looking at James Wappels blog for a guide of one way to do this.
I’m really looking forward to the Wrath of Kings week. I’ve been admiring the models for some time – especially Houses Goritisi and Nasier – but I haven’t a clue about the gameplay or the setting. It’ll be great to see the game explored in more depth, so I can decide if I want to invest in it.
Wrath of kings looks interesting, not played in my gaming area so interested to watch. As a backer for Mythic battles, all I can say is “bring it on I can’t wait for it!!!”
80’s soviets, Eureka minatures from Australia do a really nice range. Used them for 3rd world regulars for modern games, vehicles look at HLBS from Brum think they do nice range in 1/48th. Americans not sure when Fritz helet came in, if too late consider Vietnam era Yanks.
I’m glad mythic battles pledge manager is out Tuesday, so I can increase my pledge, to get all those lovely minis sometime later in the year.
I love them rolling pins. Ive had to cut one side off to use it to get cobbles onto the edges of terrain. Yellow stuff works just fine, just need to clean it after use.
Good to have the sudden plot jump summed up and explained.
I can’t wait to receive my Pantheon kickstarter went a bit mad but you get loads and loads and loads of minis. I would encourage everyone to have look at the pledge manager as the entry game is about $89 plus postage. So what would be nice (for me) would be an expertly painted Titan. Anywho any prize would be nice!
Ive never played Wrath of Kings before. How does it compare to many of the other games out there?
I am blown away at the amount of prizes you are giving away again, now if I can just be the lucky winner of one of these that will be fantastic. LOL the studio painted Atlas will be mind blowing, and the fact that you guys get these epic prizes is absolutely brilliant, well done to the BOW team.
I have back Mythic battles, quite heavily, and now seeing some of the finished test models I am so glad I backed this project. My only concern is that I have to remain patient for another year….. you lucky lot have just spent a week playing this game. I think this game is going to be epic and I totally agree with Justin, I am going to enjoy painting every last bit of each mini.
Happy weekend!
Holy Mother I would Love a painted Atlas!!!
This game looks pretty great :). Excited to try it 🙂
@warzan I had a great idea for the curved table set-up but I got confused about which video it was mentioned in. Anyway, I remembered/guessed wrong and posted the idea in the VLOG video 🙁
Really Looking forward to Mythic Battles 🙂
I’ve looked at the Mythic battles game since I found it on Kickstarter and would love to have backed it but I cannot justify getting the money together. Would love to get my hands on some of these models to try and do a good paint job on.
I am on the fence about adding to my initial pledge for Mythic Battles. The gamer side of me says “go for it” so I may have to give in…
Mythic Battles looks epic. Cant wait til Dec 2017
Mythic Battles looks great and the miniatures are quite impressive. The mats that @warzan showcased look absolutely great.
Good show gents.
@warzan – It would be great if you guys would discuss the different materials the mats come in. What advantages of choosing one over another. Thanks!
Looking forward to the WoK play through.
Yesss!!! Been waiting for this week! Mythic Battles and Wrath of Kings in one glorious week! The only problem is, living in Australia, when I wake up all excited on Monday, you guys haven’t started your day yet!
Great mythic battles update – backed the game and cannot wait!
Hey guys! Great show. I’m gutted I’m not gonna be able to make the hobby boot camp, I think it’s an awesome idea and really hope you’re able to do it again some time. I’m also really looking forward to Mythic Battles immensely, I can’t wait to get my hands on the beautiful models to paint. Here’s a thought Mythic Battles/Hobby boot camp, now I would give up work to make it to that!
Funny a selfie stick war stick.
Hooray for late pledge thingy!! Also… The Minoan civilisation were on Santorini (I think?) and I’ve been told that you can find shards of Minoan pottery on the coast of Crete deposited by the shockwave/tidal waves? It would be nice to be there to find out! …..or I’m talking shite again (that happens lots!)
glad I backed Mythic Battles!
Got to play catch up today, sickly weekends are not the one, no worries though.
BOW evenings with a Wrath of Kings weekly special!
Seen the minis, love the style, don’t know much about the game,
Perfect excuse to dive in, Happy me this week
Not sure if this helps find mini’s for a Red Dawn game, but have you considered the army and civilian figures in Mars Attacks from Mantic? I don’t how to help with the Russians.
Awesome weekender guys! 🙂 Wrath has been on my radar for ages. Looks interesting with an interesting esthetic. Just a shame so few people are aware of it.
Another great show and a great end to my weekend! I missed the Mythic Battles Kickstarter by a week but great news it will be open for additional pledges and I won’t have to wait for the viking game! Sculpts look killer and the paint job on the models is superv
Woo-hoo mythic battles. Love those minis.
Loving the show (normal Monday morning catchup for me).
Want John’s tool @dignity where is the promised information link??
Am a backer of Mythic Battles and I (like many here and many more on the KS comments are not entirely pleased with the perceived “switch and bait” that has been pulled, I’ll live with it as I have no choice, but I’ve lost a bit of faith in the team (after all this isn’t their first KS). I think the issue is that orignial backers feel a little sidelined, we helped get the project off the ground and the KS exclusives and the price below rrp is our reward. That has now been eroded as every backer, late, original or $1 “watcher” will get the same rewards at the same time.
Quirkworthy (Jake) has said he actually said from an eithical point of view he would like to see a two tier reward structure…..but he’s been told that it will not happen.
If the project was not going to hit retail I’d still be a little miffed, but maybe a little more understanding.
Really looking forward to getting started on the WoK content this week, it is a game I own and wished I played more of……right on to watching XLBS
Great show again guys. Bit worried about John and his tool but it’s always entertaining watching him try to ignore Justin. Looking forward to Mythic Battles so much – it’s Justin’s fault I backed it so probably owe him a pint!
Thanks for the show guys,
I’am so impatient to receive my Mythic Battles Pantheron pledge…
Missed the Kickstarter 1st time around, the late pledge just made my day!
Props to my mate Dave Thomas from GW on that awesome eldar mini. 🙂
Another ‘Spotlight Week’ – fantastic!! Love getting more detail on projects that might interst me 🙂
Models look amazing, glad they are doing a late pledge
Loved Conan, and really looking forward to MB:P!
Cant wait to get the minis for Mythic battles, been playing with printed tokens for a few week but love the game
I bought 2 of these kickstarters!!!!! One for myself and another for a buddy.
If they are going to open up late pledges, are they going to also open new stretch goals? I mean, it IS part of the total pledges are they not? It would be AWESOME if they do!!! MORE MINIS FANS!!!!
When it comes to late pledges I don’t have an issue as long as the total amount can still go towards opening further stretch goals.
Loved the mat today in Warren meets Mat, I can instantly think of plenty of games it will slot in perfectly for.
If you’re looking at more green stuff moulding for John’s tool have you considered the Basius pads from wargames bakery? I picked up around 15 from the 2.0 and 2.5 kickstarters and I’ve found them to be incredibly useful.
Glad to hear I’ll have a month to sort out the Mythic Battles PM, I’m intending to get everything and I was trying to work out how to juggle it and Medioevo Universalis so that month should make it a bit easier. Using the second plastic for the weapons is an absolute masterstroke, the bendy weapons have always been the one issue I have with the softer plastic that is so predominate in boardgames.
So many great things that are coming out in the near future. So sad that I missed out on the Relic Knights stuff however really looking into that game now along with Wrath of Kings as next ones to play.
Great show. But I have a concern. With the huge number of prizes to win in this episode, will a future Weekender just be an hour of reading out winners?
great as always
I don’t know how I’m going to paint all those mini’s but looking forward to receiving my Mythic Battles pledge!
I missed the oportunity to get Mythic Battles in the KS, but the projecy looks Amazing!!
Already went full in on the Mythic Battles kickstarter. Can’t wait for it to arrive, and ofc would love a Titan painted a lot better than what I can myself
Its Leo!! Can not wait to get my hands on Mythic Battles!!!! Looking forward to Christmas 2017!!!
The .mythic battles looks so great I backed it on kickstarter and want to get all that God . I would love to see other gods in the future like the Roman gods and the Norse holds and Egyptian gods.
Mythic battles minis look fantastic can’t wait for the end of the year
So glad Mythic Battles will have a late pledge- I’ll be backing this now! 🙂
comments win prizes!!!
Loving Mythic Battles pantheon and I am so looking forward to the pledge manager opening later on today!
Winning some resin? Sign me up!
Hapy Weekend – ok now half a week away and finally getting to watch.. Spent the weekend camping in sun, wind and rain storm (yep flattened tents), then more wind – and they say it is summer here in NZ… Might have been more fun spending the time painting models – na – was a timeout time… Right now it is time to get back to making and painting a Dwarf Steel Behemoth for Kings of War using a Deadzone Strider and adding steam power… (yep a Steampunked Strider)..
It’s nice to see 40k moving ahead with the story. Built in stagnation isn’t usually a winning business strategy.
An alternative to Johns pins. They are between web shops right now though. I bought the Imperial, Forest, and Mountain pads during the kickstarter, but I’d love more.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2023606288/basius-25-the-tabletop-wargames-base-stamp-system/description
probably the most interesting thing about the new Warhammer Quest is that a new team will be working on it.
Mythic Pantheon looks like a lot of good figures and a good game system. I seem to recall the next version will be Norse. I’m hoping they continue into the Egyptian mythology.
Love the focused week themes. Hadross for life!
The texture roller from green StuffIt aré amazing, i had 2, one coblestone and one greek.
40k background is getting hot Also, thanks for enlight us!
Awsome sauce, as always i get here later than expected.
Amazing model. I backed the kickstarter and love the models!
I can’t wait to receive MB Pantheon! Now that the PM has started I know I will run broke. I want all the minis
There is a whole set of those rollers. The alchemic ones are gorgeous too!
hat’s Atlas model is off the hook. I only wish that WoK would pick up a little in this area. There seemed to be some players when it first started, but it’s died off.
Bagsy poseidon
Can’t wait it see more content on Mythic Battles! Hope I win that painted Atlas!
Man, those weekenders look amazing. too bad its so far.
The way they use two plastics sets my friends at MB leaps and bounds beyond the competition I’ve been playing with to this point. Can’t wait to see more from these guys!
Mythic Battles kickstarter backer and absolutely no regrets.. great stuff! Cant wait!
A wonderful show again guys
Great episode. Thank you guys.
I’ve been playing the P&P version of Mythic Battles as much as I can, and god damn, Leo and the crew have done a Greta job. It’s so great and so strategic. Moves and counter moves, it’s so addictive. Love it and I’ll be waiting eagerly for the end of the year when my copy arrives.
I backed the kickstarter. Is it too early to get hyped?
I am really looking forward to seeing the game play videos for Pantheon. Hopefully the BoW guys can give Leo and Benoit a run for their money. It was nice to see a few more of the production figures. I am an all-in backer of the KS and honestly believe Mythic Battles is the KS that I am most looking forward to receiving.
I have always been a bit interested in Wrath of Kings.
What battles to do, historical ones, well where to start @warzan. Chosen Men is a start start of rules and only needs a few figures to have a great game and for ideas, just watch Sharpe or read Sharpe but getting the raising the flag on top of the church in Sharpe’s Rifles won be a great scenario to play. But idea for more historical games:
Last Stand of the 44th (Essex) Regt at Gandamak in the First Afghan War. Where a surviving group of men consisting of 20 officers and 45 European soldiers, mostly infantry from the 44th Regiment of Foot, tried to press on but found themselves surrounded on a snowy hillock near the village of Gandamak. With only 20 working muskets and two shots per weapon, the troops refused to surrender. A British sergeant is said to have cried “not bloody likely!” when the Afghans tried to persuade the soldiers they would spare their lives. Sniping then began, followed by a series of rushes; soon the hillock was overrun by tribesmen. An officer named Captain Souter was mistaken by the Afghans as a high-ranking officer because they thought he was wearing a general’s yellow waistcoat. In fact the officer had wrapped the regimental colours of the 44th Foot around his body. He was dragged into captivity along with a sergeant named Fair and seven privates. The remaining troops were killed.
If you want something more modern then there is Battle of Mirbat. The Battle of Mirbat took place on 19 July 1972 during the Dhofar Rebellion in Oman, which was supported by Communist guerrillas from South Yemen. Britain assisted the Omani government by sending elements of its Special Air Service both to train soldiers and compete against the Popular Front for the Liberation of the Occupied Arabian Gulf (PFLOAG) guerrillas for the “hearts and minds” of the Omani people.
At 6 am on 19 July 1972 the PFLOAG attacked the British Army Training Team (BATT) house, which housed the nine SAS soldiers, based just outside the Port of Mirbat. The PFLOAG (locally known as the Adoo) attacked the SAS BATT house knowing that to be able to reach the Port of Mirbat they would first have to defeat the SAS guarding the approach to the town in Jebel Ali, a series of small desert slopes leading to the Port.
The Officer in Command, Captain Mike Kealy observed the waves advancing on the fort, but at first did not order his men to open fire because he thought it was the “Night Picket” coming back from night shift. The Night Picket were a loyal group of the Omani Army positioned on the slopes to warn the BATT house of Adoo troop movements. Realising that the Night Picket must have been killed, due to them not warning the SAS of the assault, Mike Kealy ordered his men to open fire. Mike Kealy along with other members of the team took up positions behind the sand-bag parapet on the roof of the BATT house, firing at the Adoo with L1A1 SLR battle rifles, with one man firing the Browning M2HB heavy machine gun, with a further two men on ground level operating and firing an infantry mortar surrounded by sand-bags. The Adoo were armed with AK-47 assault rifles, and were mortar bombing the area around the BATT house. Kealy ordered the signaller to establish communications with SAS Headquarters at Um al Quarif, to request reinforcements.
There were also a small number of Omani Intelligence Service personnel in the BATT House, a small contingent of Pakistani soldiers and a member of British Military Intelligence seconded to the OIS. They joined the team on the roof and fired on the Adoo with SLRs and other small arms. Initially some of the Pakistani soldiers were reluctant to join the defence of the fort because their roles with the BATT were largely administrative, but they obeyed orders from Mike Kealy and the British Military Intelligence Corporal.
Knowing that the SLRs would not be of full use until the Adoo were closer than the weapon’s range of 800 metres, and lacking heavier firepower, Sergeant Talaiasi Labalaba made a run for the 25 Pounder Artillery Piece, which was positioned next to a smaller fort manned by nine Omani Army Special Forces soldiers, who had not played a part in the battle. The Omani policeman who was guarding the weapon had been seriously wounded. Talaiasi Labalaba managed to operate the weapon, which is a six-man job, by himself and fire a round a minute at the approaching Adoo, directing their attention away from the BATT house. Kealy received a radio message from Talaiasi reporting that a bullet had skimmed his face, he was badly injured, and was struggling to operate the gun on his own. At the BATT house Kealy asked for a volunteer to run to Talaiasi’s aid. Trooper Sekonaia Takavesi volunteered to go.
Sekonaia Takavesi ran from the BATT house, with the remaining men providing covering fire, in an attempt to distract the Adoo. Sekonaia ran the 800 metres through heavy gunfire, and reached the gun emplacement. Sekonaia tried to give aid to his injured friend, while firing at the approaching Adoo with his personal weapon. Realising that they needed help, Sekonaia tried to raise the small number of Omani soldiers inside the smaller fort and Walid Khamis emerged. The remaining Omani soldiers in the fort engaged the enemy with small arms fire from firing positions on the roof and through the windows of the fort. As the two men made it back to the emplacement, the Omani soldier fell wounded after being shot in the stomach with a 7.62 mm bullet. Adoo continued to advance upon both the BATT house and the artillery emplacement. At one point, the Adoo were so close that Sekonaia and Talaiasi fired the weapon at point blank range, aiming down the barrel. Talaiasi crawled across a small space to reach a 60 mm Infantry Mortar, but fell dead after being shot in the neck. Sekonaia, also shot through the shoulder and grazed by a bullet to the back of his head, continued to fire at the approaching Adoo with his personal weapon. The squad signaller sent messages through to the main Forward Operating Base, to request air support and medical evacuation for the men in the gun emplacement.
Captain Kealy and Trooper Tobin made a run to the artillery piece. Upon reaching it, they dived in to avoid increasingly intense gunfire from the Adoo. Sekonaia continued to fire on the attackers, propped up against sand bags after being shot through the stomach (the bullet narrowly missing his spine). The Adoo threw several hand grenades, but only one detonated, exploding behind the emplacement with no one injured. During the battle, Trooper Tobin attempted to reach over the body of Talaiasi. In so doing, Tobin was mortally wounded when a bullet struck his face. By this time, BAC Strikemaster light-attack jets of the Sultan of Oman’s Air Force had arrived and began strafing the Adoo in the Jebel Ali. With a low cloud base making for low-altitude attack runs, only machine-guns and light rockets were used. Reinforcements arrived from G Squadron and, defeated, the PFLOAG withdrew at about 12:30. All wounded SAS soldiers were evacuated, and given medical treatment. Trooper Tobin eventually died in hospital, not due to the multiple gunshot wounds but to an infection in his lung caused by a splintered tooth, which he had inhaled when his bottom jaw was blown off by an AK-47 round.
Operation Biting, also known as the Bruneval Raid, in the Second World War. the code name given to a British Combined Operations raid on a German coastal radar installation at Bruneval in northern France, which took place on the night of 27–28 February 1942
Can’t wait to get my copy of MBP. Very happy with the production quality shown!
Atlaaaaaaaas!
I hope BoW does a Mythic Battles week once the game is released.
It’s taken me a week to watch this in bits, but it was another good one. Am excited by MB: Pantheon. I pledged without having seen much of it but getting caught up in the hype and the feeling that the miniatures were good enough and plentiful enough to make is a reasonable bet, but it’s looking very good!
I’m sorry, I just have to say this… That intro to Warren meets Mat is one of the most disturbing few seconds of video that I have ever witnessed. I thought it couldn’t possibly be as disturbing as I remembered it from last week, but yup. 🙂 Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to clean my eyeballs…
Probably not as much as we had to clean the mat 😉
The quality of this weekender is damn good, great to see more coverage of the superb mythic battles pantheon
Love the Warren meet Mat section of the Show. Good work. And What a good work with the WoK week. Hope I won something. Greetings from Perú.
Hope there is a Mythic Battles Boot Camp, would love to go tho that…… 🙂
i am so in love with those Mythic figures the detail wow
Wrath of kings week was awesome.
Just saw the Warren meets Mat video and thought it was hilarious. And the figures for Mythic Battle look amazing! Can’t wait for it’s release later this year!
So excited about Mythic Battles. I backed the KS and can’t wait to finally see the game.
ha ha watching this program is worse than sneaking around watching porn i have to get up early on the weekend so i can watch the guys talking about our hobbie so my partner does not know or the odd looks start and the annoying questions begin lol
@warzan, I`m loving your Red Dawn idea. If you do manage to get the 80`s figures and vehicles, and get rules for a game you know you`ll have to do a Vlog and battle report.
Mythic Battles: Pantheon, is gonna be one hell of a game. I for one can`t wait to start playing, with all the different combinations for force`s no two games will ever be the same. Lovely figures, great game play. The only thing left is for people to start making 3D gaming boards, which will make for some interesting game`s.
Thinking on the curved surface for gaming, I think that you would want to use a thin sheet of magnetic metal for your surface. That would be cheaper than lining a wooden surface with magnetic material. You would still need to build a bit of a frame. You would also want to use some really strong magnets for your buildings as they will be a bit top heavy when placed on the curve.
Waiting for MBP to arrive like a kid asking if we are there yet every 5mins. Come on December!
I love my green stuff roller, it has my vote for hobby product of the year. I see they now have end pieces to keep the height off the desk constant.
Can’t wait for Mythic Battles: Pantheon. Thanks guys for that game. Will a resin mini join our PnP ? I hope of course 🙂
keep on trucking my friends
wow that ATLAS… WOW…
and the Wrath of Kings game won me over.. i think i will buy that starter and try it out
How do we find out who won the Atlas?!
Iam happy to be a back of this wonderfull project , I just want to have my pledge already at home to make the mini’s shine with my painting !
